oh it's no big deal at all....really...I mean it's only a 5 day/ 4 night trip with air fare. Worst of all they force you to sleep one of the nights in the Cinderella Castle suite....the horror!!:scared1:

:rotfl2: How dare they force you to do that....goodness who do they think they are..:rotfl:

Thanks for the heads up!

Now I just have to wait for March 12, so my hubby and I will be the same age again. Until then I will have to put up with his teasing about me being "an older woman" and that I "robbed the cradle".

 My DH does that to me too. My birthday is in a few weeks, his isn't until July.

I did a little short post but put all of it in my PTR- I'll go back and look up which page but it may not have pics left. A Big Thank You to photobucket for that one. :headache: I'll try and post some if you missed it. The surprise went well but they didn't really get it at first. They were more excited about the balloons than anything :lmao:

I don't know how I totally missed your PTR. I have some catching up to do! :surfweb: I just read all of Kim/NDG's PTR yesterday!

I know, there should be some kind of laws against cruelity like that. To keep everyone else from dealing with that kind of horror, I will take it on myself.:lmao:

It is so annoying when he does it. I finally got sick of it and would offer to buy him diapers and baby food since he was such a widdle baby. I am only 2 months and 2 days older than him.

The lady that has done our taxes several times for H&R Block called today to see if I wanted to make an appointment with her to do our taxes. She actually remembered a lot about us. She said, "we'll try to get you enough back this year for another trip to Disney World." I must be addicted if a woman I only see once a year remembers I love Disney World.

Okay..here we go again with vacation-other-than-Disney-questions...we are looking into a few possible places for a small trip for our family. One being Colorado, my question for those of you who have been/live there...is Feb or March a better time to go(of course, omitting the week of spring break-that's out).....we were thinking mid-Feb due to some awesome airline deals,....then thinking of a long weekend in NYC in May---now we might change our minds again!!! But, we have been wanting to visit Co for a long time...also, where do you recommend? Breckenridge, Winter Park, Estes Park? I am sure the kids will want to ski...but I just want to see real snow and we want to do the snowmobile and sledding or whatever. Thanks my friends!!

I love Estes Park!!! We vacationed there every summer for 2 weeks from the age of 11-18.

We went to a small ski resort near Winter Park when I was in high school. When I get home I can look up the name of it if you like. The slopes were good, and didn't have long lift lines. For some reason I'm thinking Cripple Creek? They had condos you could rent where you could "ski" out of the back door right to the lifts.

I just received the email for our free tickets for volunteering for the Give a Day Get a Day.... YEAH!!! Now what to do with them???????????

Oh, THAT measly ol' trip? Why bother with only 4 nights really? It's kind of like the lottery...I only play when it's up to 100 bazillion dollars! Because who really needs a few million dollars lying around! :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for the info...I just sent Keaton to go get my cell to enter!:yay:

Thank you both. Now I just have to wait for March 12, so my hubby and I will be the same age again. Until then I will have to put up with his teasing about me being "an older woman" and that I "robbed the cradle".

There's 3.5 years between my DH and myself (I'm younger). I'm closer in age to my BIL, who is younger than me, than my DH. My BIL used to give my DH suuuuuuuuuuch a hard time about robbing the cradle. Then my BIL married a woman older than me.

He stopped giving DH a hard time, once we pointed that out. ;)

hey! I have friends that go to Estes Park in the summers too and they love it!!! I don't know anything really about Co....except that every one who goes says the town they went to was the BEST!! So, I don't even know what to look for! I have heard the places with ski-in/ski-out are what we would need...I don't even know what that means!

Well I hope everyone had a less crazy weekend. After I got out of school, we went to my sister's house for a belated birthday lunch for John and myself. My sister made chicken cheese spaghettit. YUMMY!! My dad didn't want me to have to share a b-day cake with a child, so he bought me a red velvet cake. I don't know why it was an issue now since I've shared on with him for the last 11 years. At one point John said, "Well if someone is going to get me a cake, I would really like a Sponge Bob cake." My sister got him a chocolate cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing.

He was so excited, but he never actually ate any of it. We watched Star Trek and the the Wizard of Oz. While we watched those, I helped him put together the Lego Darth Vader Tie Fighter my sister and bil gave him. He started complaining that his head hurt so he laid down on the couch and snuggled up with a blanket and their dog Ziggy.

Well the poor kid has had this cough for like a month, and I've tried several different things. Well on the way home, we stopped and got some different meds and something for his headache. I gave him the Tylenol for the headache. Not long after we got home he had a really bad coughing fit, where he grabbed his head and cried that it hurt really bad. That is where I put my foot down. I knew if he was crying b/c the pain was bad, it was bad. This is my little boys that the cat bit his little boyhood (long story) and he never cried or complained about pain. We took him to the ER and the doctor did x-rays b/c he heard weezing in both lungs, but especially the left one. He said that he jsut had a viral infection and that he could give him something for it. However, it wouldn't work any better than anything over the counter so he didn't write us a script.

My mom and dad still go to Estes Park every year if they can. They would say the best time of the year to go though is October (I think). It's when the Elks are coming down out of the mountain and they have "Elk Fest". My parents actually stay in the same place every year.

Also, the Stanley is in Estes Park. Stephen King was staying at the Stanley when he wrote "The Shinning". The t.v. version of "The Shinning" was filmed at the Stanley. Since I knew there was a grocery store and a Taco Bell not far from the hotel, it was hard for me to buy the desolation feeling they want you to think the family has, so I didn't watch it.

YAY FOR ESTES PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a little biased on that, my dad grew up there, my grandfather still lives in the same house and my aunts live in Longmont and Dever. So basically for 20 some odd years all "vacations" were spent in cabins in Estes Park!! It's amazing! I can honestly say I've only been there twice during the winter months (and one of them was for my grandmothers funeral so needless to say, there was no "sightseeing" stuff).

One of my favorites is Horseback riding. There is one just outside of the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, and you ride into the park.

Trail Ridge Road - highest continuous highway in the US will be closed. This is located in Rocky Mountain National Park. You can still drive into the park, but will NOT be able to get to Alpine Visitors Center at the highest point.

A great thing about Estes Park is the wildlife that just roams around the town. Litterally the Elk will bed down in the middle of Main Street, and you just move around them.

Estes is located about an hour and a half north of Denver, and there are a ton of things to do in Denver like the Aquarium and the zoo.

Sorry if I totally bombarded you with too much information. I just get so excited talking about CO!! Please let me know if you have any quesitons...if I don't have the answer, I know people who do!!

Right before you go through the gate at Trail Ridge Road (where they close the road off in winter) off to the left there is a pinic area. We would just spend days and days just sitting watching the little animals. There is a boulder near a stream that goes through one part of it, and I loved to sit on the boulder and listen to music. It is my favorite boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Also, (I can't remember the right name for it) there is a hiking area where there are 3 lakes that, each lake a little high up that the last. It was another favorite spot of ours.

I know right where you are! Bear Lake is the first then you head up to I believe Sprague Lake and I for the life of me can't remember the third...ugh, this is going to bother me :rolleyes1!

Crud I can't remember the names of the Lakes! I've only hiked around Bear Lake....I'll have to look in the morning at some of our stuff and figure out what they are.

Edit: I lied...Sprague Lake is somewhere else in the Park.....grrr why can't I remember this...I'll figure it out!

Yes, Bear Lake. That's it. Was the top one Crystal, Dream, or Emerald Lake?

Also, It wasn't Tail Ridge Road that the picnic area was near, it was Old Fall River Road.

Hi Snowbirds! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:

Hmm, I have nothing to add about Colorado! :) I have been there a few times and enjoyed it very much. :thumbsup2

I'm a bit bummed today, realizing that one year ago today we were on our way to WDW! :sad1: Oh well, I know we'll get back there eventually. I should get working on my DLP plans. There just doesn't seem to be the abundance of information about it like there is for WDW. At least not that I can find in English!

Hope you all have a happy Disney day! :goodvibes

ooohhhhh...info!!! I love it!! Yeah..we are definitely wanting to go in the next couple of months...we want to do the snow-thing! I know ya'll from way north think we are nuts since you have to live in it all the time!!! We never have seen a reeeeeallly good snow...or been skiing or anything. So, yep...whatever info you want to pass along i will take it greedily!! My dh is going to Houston to see a Dr about a possible torn something-or-other in his knee this week---he already had the MRI..they are just gonna look at it and see what they think...I am sure he will have to have some type of surgery-smallish they are saying---then we will know for sure WHEN we can go to Colorado...I have seen some really good airline deals for Feb..so hopefully he can go then. I just don't think it would be right to send him into Snowland on crutches....Sarbah77 will agree with me on that!!! Ha!! Okie dokie! Ya'll have a great day...gotta get my kids moving. We didn't schedule a day off today, so I am letting them be super lazy--but I think this is quite late enough! Of course, I can Dis longer if they are not needing this for school:laughing:
