We don't have regular cable, so we don't see Hannah M..we only see it when we are at Disney!!!!!! But, i know people that are giving little bitty girls H.M. bday parties...I too think that's too young for my kid anyway!!! She is 6 also and I think she's tooooo little to see all that. I don't let any of them really watch much mushy stuff!!! the boys don't like it anyway!!!!We are really big on old black and white movies, classic movie stars, old comedies!! that kinda stuff. Of course, disney movies (mostly old!!!).

WOO HOO!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

WE"RE GOING!!!!! :yay: :cool1: :dance3:  :cheer2:

DH gave the okay so we are headed to Disney! :cool1: January 26 - Feb 2 at POFQ!!! Hoping for a really great deal to come our way! :worship: Please Disney Please! :worship:

YAY!! I'm so excited for you Kim!!!! I know you guys are going to have a great time!!! I'm sad we'll miss each other by a week, but you know I will be thinking of you!! I can't wait to read your PTR (hint hint LOL) and your TR!!!!

Hi Snowbirds.... Have had a busy busy summer with the kids, work, etc.... .. Daniel has been competiting in NY State Junior golf this summer and made it to the state championships which was last week.... he did well... his first year and he finished 41st in the state.... his goal was to finish in the top 50 so he was pleased.... then he competed in the Central NY PGA also and finished 11th out of 182... so he was happy with that.... Maggie is getting ready to go back to college next week... hardly saw her this summer... I guess thats what being a teeneager is all about... can't believe she is almost 20....

I booked a trip for Daniel, Tim and I for February.... we are staying at Shades of Green... now I just need to find some decent airfare... becasue so far I have only seen flights around $500... each.... hope everyone is having a great summer... off to the mall with Maggie.... have a great day!!!

Wendy!!!!! It's so good to hear from you!!! I know you have had a busy summer---and congrats to Daniel...that is amazing...
Hope you find some decent airfair pretty soon!

I am on V A C A T I O N! We leave for Disney in the morning! I am sitting here, waiting for the 24 hour mark to print my Southwest boarding passes!!!

I have lots of last minute stuff to do, errands to run, packing to finish. I still haven't completely decided if we will do all carry-ons or if we will need one checked bag. The girls definitely fit their stuff in carry-ons, but they are so much smaller!

So...We arrive in Orlando at 11 am and travel via FL Tours (have any of you used them?) to the Dolphin. We are there one night, then take a taxi to Pop Century the next morning, where we stay for 5 nights. Free Dining, and we have all of our ADR's made and confirmed. Woo Hoo!

I am praying for safe travels and for wellness in the heat (ACCU weather has a "real feel" temp of 109 one day!). I'll check in with all when I get home!

Stay cool and have a blast!!!!

I think that kids grow up WAY too fast and do not need to watch shows/movies about teenagers when they are 6. We'll be sticking with the animated shows/movies for quite some time. Some people might call me overprotective, but I really don't care what other people think. Sorry for my rant!!!

No apology necessary! :goodvibes I completely agree with you! We own a T.V. but don't have cable/digital or anything. We just rent movies and borrow DVDs from the library. We too have held off on exposing our kids to things that are "too old" for them.

Miss E (8) was recently invited to a Hannah Montana birthday Party and told me that she would like to watch a couple of the shows WITH me just so she could know what the other girls were talking about. I agreed and we watched 2 episodes of the show TOGETHER!

During the show if I thought anything was questionable, I paused it to talk with her. I asked her what she thought about certain words and attitudes and what she thought about the show in general. She said that it was "just okay" and that she had seen enough and probably wouldn't need to watch it again! :thumbsup2 What a good kid! princess:

I have no personal beef with what other people allow or disallow their kids to do but personally I would just like my little girls to BE little girls as long as possible! You are VERY RIGHT Meghan, today's kids do have to grow up too fast! Let's let them enjoy theor innocence a bit longer! :)

Good Morning everyone. Hope you had a good weekend. I had off all weekend...it was fantastic. Saturday was a friends wedding, the ceremony was an hour and ten minutes in an unairconditioned church. (Yeah that was fun :rolleyes1) Then as of Sunday I have officially been on this earth for a quarter of a century...:rotfl2:. I really don't know why I'm freaking out about being 25 but I am. Oh well...I'm sure I'll make it through.

When does everyone's kids start school? Are you ready for them to start again? My mom was always excited for school to start...I think my siblings and I drove her nuts during the summer.

Have a great Monday everyone!

I'm with all of you on the whole kids are growing up too fast. Our DS who is 6 still loves watching all the animated stuff. Our friends have a 7 year old - for her 6th birthday it was High School Musical. Of course, we hear "girls are just more mature than boys are." That may be the case, but I'm content to keep my little guy a little guy for as long as I can!!! She refuses to wear anything princess anymore, because a few of the boys made fun of her at school - in 1st grade (which I think will happen anywhere - kids can be so cruel!)! I think Disney is marketing all this stuff to the younger generation, as that's money for them. To each their own, I guess.:confused3

I did okay with 25....30 was rough on me! I was quite happy to see 31! :lmao:

Our school started last Monday (10th). I think it's WAY too early - he barely had any summer!!

Maddie starts school on Tuesday, Sept 8th. I sort of looking forward to it, but I enjoy having her home. When school starts, that means that things really start to get busy for me. I start teaching ballet again, my dance team starts up in late Sept/early Oct, I get more hours at work....it's gets hectic! Next Monday, my DH starts grad school again. I do like being busy because it makes time go by more quickly, but I like the lazy days of summer too!

My brother and sister went back on Thursday and Friday respectively. School here starts this Wednesday though. DH started training on Friday, and has been going to various back to school seminar type things.
He's very excited about his new job. He gets to assistant teach a gardening class at the high school for part of the day, then assist with special education students for the rest of the day.

My little guy starts K on the 31st- wish me luck! I think it's going to be a tearful morning for me. We received his bus info and his teacher's name yesterday...he's sooooo excited! :yay:

Both the U and grad schools here start the Tuesday after Labor Day. It seems SO late compared to the rest of you. On the plus side, we get to eke out another week or so of summer. And we don't have to deal with students, faculty or college football games for just a bit longer!

i'm at the 30 day mark until my Disney trip!!:yay::dance3::cool1: Still trying to figure out how to Mickey-up my knee brace and if my friend will be seen in public with me, if I do it!

I haven't gotten a solid night sleep since I decided on my surgery. My boss said I probably wouldn't until I end up loaded with narcotics and the night in the hospital. Thats not encouraging - I've still got nearly 2 months to go!

The first night was a "what have I done?" type of obsession. Other early a.m. worries have included "how will I shower?" and "will I be able to wear pants?" What kept me up last night was "I don't want to spend $200 on cross-stitch supplies to keep me busy during my recovery. How can I cut down the cost? Do I need the Magnifica beads? Will that make things affordable?" As you can see, some of my worries are more important than others but I'm afraid I'll be a zombie if I keep this up.

Oh... and my coworker, the one in the next office space over, the one who has more health issues than even me....? She's out for the forseeable future, until the fever breaks and she's recovered from the swine flu. :headache: The rest of our coworkers are totally flipped out, so I'm spending a LOT of time reminding them that they're healthy as horses, they'll probably be fine, and to wash their hands. Just call me Mother Hen! ;)

Wow I can't believe everyone is going back to school already. Three more weeks here!!

Madison starts exactly 3 weeks from today. We still don't know who her teacher is though. It's so frustrating! When I was little, we got our teacher for the following year on the last day of school with our report card! It was great because you could find out which friends were going to be in your class again next year. If I hadn't gone onto the schools webside, I never would have known which school supplies to buy her. That list always comes with the teacher. At least I have all of her supplies ready to go!

We start 3 weeks from today too. Our teacher assignments will come in the mail this Friday. I was like you when I went to school we got our teacher for the following year on the last day of school. Guess things are different now. :confused3 After we get our teacher assignments they will get a letter from their teacher, and so will I - telling me what supplies they need and so on. Our supply list is usually pretty minimal, so no big deal. Each school (the boys are in different buildings) will have an Open House the week before school starts so the kids can meet their teachers and see their new rooms. Plus DS7's building will have a parent-teacher orientation.

I'm not really ready for school to start. But I do think the boys are starting to get a little bored, even though they won't admit it. So I think they are just about ready to head back. Plus fall soccer starts the same week as school starts. And a week after soccer season ends - it's time to go to DISNEY!!! :woohoo:

I'm starting to believe that the New England area is the only place where school still starts after Labor Day LOL!!! We (teachers) reported back on Monday and the students will be here this coming Monday!!!

Jen, you are right...the New Englanders are totally diff for school than we are!! Our teachers started last Monday also. Our kids start Monday. Some private and christian schools start on diff days this week.

Shelly...love your new avatar!!!! When we were kids, they posted the teachers on the door of the buildings about a month before school started and the supply list per grade. We didn't have to buy much. The lists now are just ridiculous!! Plus, they "like" you to buy extra for kids who cant afford it. We live in an area with the highest school taxes around and i think we have the biggest school supply list too!! Of course, as homeschoolers, I don't have to do that!! Ha@@ We started school a few weeks back...we actually have a break scheduled this week....if Dad can get off we will take a 4 day weekend!!!!!! If not, I will just have to go solo with the kids!!!

I do not know why Disney doesn't just go ahead and do the 180 days for the parks!!!! I neeeeeed that so I can do my ADRs!!!!! I mean, if they already decided to do it, why don't they at least do December!!!! I am sure they know what it's gonna be!!! I like to have my days scheduled so I can figure on where I will be for ADRs!!! This is Madness.

Hello ladies. I swear it's going to take me the rest of the day to go back and get caught up. To say life around here has been crazy is an understatement. I'm either not sleeping at all, or getting a quick nap at odd hours (like 7 - 10 PM). I remember posting, but I must have closed it out before it posted. Then again not sleeping for 48 hours straight will do that to a person.:lmao:
Joey had band camp this last week, and he totatlly loved it. I missed his first concert.:sad1: My DH picked him up from band camp on Thursday, and when he came home he said that we missed their concert. Later he tried to console me by telling me that they only played 3 notes. However it was techinically his first concert even if they just played 3 notes and I still feel bad about it. John spent the week claiming he was going to sue us for child abuse. He said allowing Joey to practice was child abuse and since his Aunt Kassi is a lawyer, he was going to have her sue us for it.
We had a pretty good weekend. I had gotten maybe 4 hours of sleep in a 48 hour time period, then I went to my sister's house to make spaghetti for my entire family for a late birthday dinner for my mom. I made the sauce from scratch from a recipe I learned from a lady who I used to work with that was from Italy. It was really good, but we put the Itialian bread we were broiling to toast on high and it kinda burned. My sister bought a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Then my mom's best friend made her an Oreo cookie cake, some of which is still in my fridge.
I have to go out in a bit to see if I can find the boys school supply packages. I hope I can find them so I don't have to buy all the supplies individually. Last time I tried that I ended up having to leave Wal Mart b/c I was having a panic attack b/c the list is so specific. We already know who my youngest son will have for a teacher, so I think I will skip "Meet the Teacher" night for him. I'm not sure if we'll go to Joey's or not, but if we do they are both on the 20th. Then they both start school on the 24th. I'm ready for them to be in school and have a quiet house, but I'm not ready for the early mornings.

I can't believe they went back to 180 days for the ADR's. That makes my day May 17, which is a Monday. Looks like the boys will be late to school that day.:lmao:

Hi Kim!! Glad to see you back!!! do you ever take Benadryl or Tylenol pm for your insomnia> you gotta get some sleep girl!!!!! That is hilarious about your kid wantin to sue ya'll!!! Ha!!!!!
