Hi ladies...I'm home! We came home yesterday afternoon and it feels wonderful. Now that I'm at a real computer and not on my phone, let me tell you how everything happened.
As you know, I was supposed to be induced on Thursday evening. Well, little Cole didn't want to wait. I started having contractions at 1:30am on Thursday morning and I think my water broke, but just a little bit. I called my doctor's office around 2am (it goes to an answering service) and they said they would page the doctor on call. After 30 minutes, I still hadn't heard from a doctor, so I called back. Within minutes, one of the doctor's called me back. She told me to go to the hospital and they would call her once I was there.
After talking to the doctor, I called my mom to have her come over to be with Maddie. I finished packing my bag and we were on our way to the hospital around 3am. After they checked me out in an exam room, I was taken to one of the labor & delivery rooms. Around 8am or so (I can't quite remember anymore), they started me on some pitocin. This was after 3 attempts at starting my iv...yuck! Once my contractions got worse, I asked for my epidural. Well, that took forever! I guess there were a lot of ladies asking for one at that moment and I was so happy when my time had finally come. After getting my epidural, I went from 5 to 7cm in mere minutes! The nurses all thought I would have a baby by lunch time.
I so wish that were true. This little guy did not want to come out! I guess his head was just not lining up how it should be and I started to panic. I did NOT want a c-section! So, I would push for awhile and then they would have me lay on my side. This pattern continued for awhile and it was agony. I had 2 epidural top offs!!! Anyways...they finally had to assist this little guy out (I don't want to get into too much detail). So now, my poor little guy has quite the big red spot on his head with some scabs.

It just breaks my heart! However, it doesn't seem to bother him and we just have to apply some ointment every 6 hours. Anyways.....once my sweet baby boy arrived, all of my pain just vanished. When they announced how big he was, I nearly passed out!!! 8lbs 13oz!!!! They didn't measure him until he was in the nursery and he is 20 1/4 inches long.
My poor mom had been at the hospital since 11:30am. She came once Tony texted her that I was 7cm and moving quickly. My dad arrived in the afternoon and then my little sister brought Madison once Cole arrived. I got to tell my parents his name and they loved it. My dad was brought to tears. His middle name is Joseph and that was his dad's name too (my grandfather passed away in May 2009). My parents started calling and texting the rest of our family that lives out of town. When Madison met her little brother, she was just beaming.

She loves holding him and telling all of her friends about him.
At the hospital, they did a little photo shoot and it's just precious. If you want to see the pics they took, you can email me and I'll forward you the link. Just send me a PM and I'll give you my email address or you can give me yours.
Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. You ladies are amazing!
