~Snowbird Chat 2~

All my poor freezing friends!!! Bless your hearts! YIKES!!! Sarah...hang on for just 14 days!!!!!

Two weeks, Sarah! You can make it!!

Down to 11 days!! I thought about packing this weekend... and found our swim suits! ;) And our travel alarm clock, only to find out Disney cruise ships provide them. WHO KNEW! (I found my baseball cap, bought sunblock, and dug out my shorts and capris! Now I just need to make sure the weather is appropriate for that!)

Okay, it was 15 when we left the house today with a windchill around 0. Temps are supposed to get in the 20s today, so it's downright balmy. And snowing. Rats.

I have a grant application for a faculty due to the sponsor NEXT MONDAY and my boss has had it on her desk since THURSDAY. I'm really irritated with her. Yes, the faculty ran slow but it's not her place to delay things an extra 3 days. Hmph. Happy Monday!

I get to pick up my new washer and dryer tomorrow night!!!! :laundy: I'm so excited to do laundry!

I am in a serious Disney Funk today! :upsidedow On this day last year we were in Minneapolis at the Mall of America the day before flying to Disney! :cloud9: The fact that I am not going to disney for 7 more months plus this nasty cold weather has me in quite a funk! :headache: I don't even feel like planning for our upcoming trip right now! Hope everybody is having a lovely Sunday wherever you are! :goodvibes
I'll be funky right there with you. I think because this time last year we were there. :sad2:
Good morning everyone! We have a 2 hour delay here today due to the weather. It's currently -7 degrees without the windchill. BRR!!! I really hate delays and wish that they would just close, but at least we got a delay. A bunch of other schools in the area didn't delay or close. What are they thinking?! It's freezing out there!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The Buffalo Bandits won in overtime Saturday night and it was a fantastic game. It was kind of fun to be a spectator, but I sure missed dancing. Yesterday, we went to my parents house to watch the first football game (Go Pack!) and eat sloppy joes. Yummy! My mom was SUPER tan since they just got back from the Dominican Republic Saturday night. My dad stays in the shade. Last night, I bought my first items for the baby....a crib set and wall decals!!! We need to get going on picking paint colors, so we had to pick a theme. It was a great deal though. If your order was over $100 you got free shipping and $25 off if you paid with PayPal!!! If you're interested in seeing what I picked out, go to Babies R Us and search for CoCaLo Monkey Time....so adorable!!!

It's freezing! I'm done with winter!!!!!

I googled the crib bedding and it is absolutely too cute!!!! :goodvibes

11 days Woo Hoo!!!!! Get packing! Don't let work stress you...you're leaving it behind in 11 days!

That crib bedding is so cute!! We had the same brand for Chase. Different pattern. It was precious!

I have Pirate League question. Has anyone done this? How would I go about making reservations? Ry really wants to do it in June.

Try to take it easy in that "heat", Meghan!

Rylan is doing a snow dance. He really wants a delay/cancellation tomorrow. I don't mind a little snow but I don't want a ton.

Hahaha....I'll try! I actually just got a call from David's Bridal; my bridesmaid dress is in! I'm in my friend's wedding at the end of August. I actually tried the dress on at the end of December....I can't believe I fit into the size above what I usually wear even with my little belly! So, that's the size I ordered. You can always take it in!!

I'm sure your dress will fit fine since you've got a few months before having to wear it. What's it look like?
I was just looking on David's Bridal. Our 10th anniversary is this summer and I'd love to renew our vows on the beach so I was looking at some dresses. Didn't find much though.

We're wearing style #83259 in Lilac. We're also wearing the peek a boo slip (style #83000) in Regency and a ruched sash (style #83688) also in Regency. The Regency color looks very blue online, but in person it's a dark purple. The 2 colors look so pretty together! The best part was that the dress was $20 off!!!

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!!

In 9 days, we fly down to Disney!!

:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2:

I keep thinking of the things I need to do... over the weekend. Maybe I should write them all down?! It's a short enough trip that I think if I charge my TWO camera batteries for my one camera, I won't need the charger. But that means I need to be sure they're charged! The other camera has an easy USB cable, so I'll charge it and pack the cable anyway! I've already packed my passports in my travel backpack, my cruise docs, and the luggage tags for both ME and the cruise. Let's go!!

Back to the knee doc today. Did something to my surguried knee, probably just overuse, but it hurts so we all think I should get it looked at.

Have a WONDERFUL day, ladies! :flower3:

Sarah..hopefully he will tell you Ibuprofen and rest till you leave...like, maybe no work!! I know you could fill that time prepping and dreaming of Disney!! And yes girl..write a list!!! I love lists!! in fact, I just made one:rotfl: it's a daily thing for me! But after 3 kids, you just somehow can't think anymore!!
A friend came over last night and we purged my closet! It's so much more fun with a friend!! That way the stuff you should get rid of and not sure why you keep it gets tossed--as it very well should! So, we are off this weekend to do a little shopping!!!! Just basic stuff like a few cute cardigans, maybe a shirtdress, or something that I can wear when I need a cute outfit for a dinner, or something for an 'occasion'...I have managed to lose all those kinds of outfits!! I just wear jeans/pants to church in the winter.... anyway...hope you all have a great week,...it's 1/2 way over!!
Kim...I think renewing your vows at 10 is a great idea Very sweet!!!!

It's been awfully quiet around here lately. I hope all of the Northern Snowbirds are staying nice and warm. I'm officially done working at ON and it's just a bit sad. It's very nice having more time on my hands though. There is lots to be done!!! Now that I have some time, I decided to start a blog (at the urging of a dear friend we all know who will remain nameless)!!!

Filled With Joy

It's not too interested quite yet, but I just started this morning. I'd love it if you checked it out sometime! I'll definately be posting pics of our nursery progress.

Sarah-I think we need Disco Dale to celebrate your single digits!! Too bad I'm on my phone. I hope your knee is feeling better soon!

Meghan-congrats on your retirement!! I remember when I retired LOL. The beat feeling ever. Got your blog bookmarked. Looking forward to reading more :)

It's snowing like crazy here in PA. Rylan asked me why we couldn't just leave for Disney tomorrow LOL. I'm with him!

Thanks, ladies! It ended up being a HUGE ordeal! :headache: I got there at 8:30 for my 9am appointment (had to drop off the hubs so I ran early). I got seen early, talked to a physician's assistant, got sent for x-rays to make sure there was no stress fracture... then 20 minutes later, the PA said "oops, the surgeon is taking over." Another half an hour, and I go for more x-rays... and at 10:30, I finally see my surgeon. Turns out, he was quite concerned that my 2009 surgery had failed. I know he thinks I'm stoic with pain, but, uh, if my tibia had fallen apart, I think I'd be more than a little hysterical.

It turns out I have tendinitis. Rest, ice, stretch, strengthen, and don't it if it hurts. Pretty much as I thought was likely, so I can't believe how much time I wasted! I even told EVERYONE (nurse on the phone, surgeon via email/on the phone, the PA) that it was probably from overuse.

Oh well. Guess it doesn't hurt if I don't walk. Looks like someone's not going to meetings for a few weeks more, eh? :rolleyes1

Meghan..you will be so glad you retired!:rotfl: More time for Disney work!! And baby boy too!!! I am about to go to your blog....
Sarah...sorry you spent so much time there...but glad it wasn't anything terrible!! Now you can look forward to your trip w/out worry!!!!

I worked at a grocery store from my junior year in HS until Madison was 2 years old (a span of only 5 1/2 years). It felt so good to finally be able to stay home with her all of the time. Those first 2 years of her life were tricky. Tony & I had to figure out our work and his school schedule so someone would always be home with her. Plus, we lived with my parents and they were a HUGE help! I stayed home with Madison until she started kindergarden in 2007. That's when I started at Old Navy.

Meghan..you will be so glad you retired!:rotfl: More time for Disney work!! And baby boy too!!! I am about to go to your blog....

I'm very happy. :goodvibes We have so much to do and I'm glad I no longer have to ask people if they want to open a credit card. I have a doctor's appointment today, so I hope to update my blog (and trip report) later on.

I did the same thing, Meghan. I was teaching full time until Rylan was 2. We decided to make some changes so that I could be home with him full time. I actually retired from the teaching and am getting a pension LOL. Retired at 31. I actually get AARP stuff in the ma all of the time. Guess they don't check my actual birthdate. I love being home, though. I tried working 3 days a week shortly after Chase was born but was miserable. Now I'm just working 1 day. I'm so much happier.

Lots of luck at your appointment!
