~Snowbird Chat 2~

Winter has returned here to WI. GRRRR.

Snowing...no idea really how much we are going to get, amounts keep changing. Right now we have 4-5" and it's suppose to snow all night....score.

Everyone has to learn how to drive again in this...I love watching people slide through interestions as they talk on the cell phone.

Oh wow!! I wouldn't talk on the phone and drive in that! But, then again, I have never driven in it,so I would be scared anyway! LOL!!
I hope it's all beautiful when you get up in the morning!! I know all of y'all are getting some freezing weather tonight...it's gonna be 28 here,...pretty dang cold for us, I can't imagine what y'all get!

In other news -- We decided to take advantage of the spring room only offer and booked the BC for May!!:cool1:

Awesome Shelly! I have clients that will be there almost those exact same dates. I'm hoping that Tony can give me some at least tentative dates for our next trip. I'm dying to start planning!

OK, it's not Disney. But we're going to ALASKA!
In August for our 30th anniversary! (How could it be 30 years already??? :scared1:)

I'm SO excited, I can't stand it! I like cruises, and I've wanted to see the glaciers forever. And we booked a balcony cabin; we're usually interior, but since the whole point of the cruise is the view . . .

Of course, it doesn't help that winter has arrived in New England, too - but I still love looking at pictures of the ice! And by August, the ice'll look inviting, too! :rotfl:

Ohhhhh....how exciting! That is on my bucket list of cruises (Alaska and Hawaii!!). You'll love the balcony. We've alwasy been interior / oceanview people. We decided on a balcony on our last cruise and fell in love! Don't know that I could go back to an interior room after that. You'll have a great time! Can't wait to see those pictures!

Agreed - me too! Alaska and Hawaii are two things that DH mentioned for his 50th. I doubt he'll get both!

Hey ladies!
I thought I'd drop by and check in.
Maybe I'll feel differently once I have older kids, but I LOVE Disney without kids. I imagine we'll take plenty of trips there just us. It's our favorite place to go. Though I'm sure we'll take our kids more than we go alone. I am warming to the idea of taking a Grandparent with us to pull kid duty during a day or so out.

I would love to go to Alaska. I actually found a 19 day cruise from Shanghai to Vancouver with stops in Japan, Russia, and Alaska. I would LOVE to do something like that on our way home from here, but I don't want to forgo the military paying for our ride home, and I seriously doubt I'd be able to convince them to reimburse us for even part of it. Maybe they don't even have them in November, because it is too cold for the ships to pass? Also, there's the issue of Logan having never been on a ship before. Nineteen days would be a long time to deal with sea sickness, even with Dramamine.

I'm still trying to plan a trip to Japan, but it's so difficult to anticipate Logan's schedule, and he's so wishy washy about making plans for anything. Sometimes he wants to take leave to go visit the States, sometimes he doesn't. Then there's the possibility that we could all return early due to Logan's medical issues. There's no cardiologist here who can treat him, and it's less expensive for the military to move us early than it would be for them to send us to Hawaii while they figure everything out. Also, by the time we did a few months in Hawaii and came back, it would pretty much be time for them to send us home anyways.
You all know how much I like to plan. The uncertainty definitely has me in a tizzy.

At the moment, Logan is in the field for 6 weeks. He's already been gone for a little over 1 week, so it's a little less than 5 to go.

Becca! Andrea! So nice to see you both! :yay:

Becca, we have friends who are planning to cruise back to the States from Europe when they PCS in summer of 2013. I think the gov't will pay the amount that it would cost them to fly you, and you would have to cover the difference. But I wouldn't want to take a chance on 19 days for a very first cruise. That would be quite a commitment to cruising.

snykymom...that cruise sounds awesome! We're definitely going to take an Alaska cruise one of these days. We've only had outside cabins, but I would definitely splurge on a balcony for Alaska. :thumbsup2 Especially for a special anniversary! :goodvibes

We have a Baltic cruise scheduled for June. :cheer2: I am super excited about two days in St. Petersburg! Sarah, any tips for me?

snykymom...I also have to add...

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:6000 posts!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
