~Snowbird Chat 2~

hey

it might be a while before i get to my TR if ever. My world was just completely shattered last weekend. My husband announced that he no longer loves me and wants out of our marriage. I am devastated. Please keep me in your prayers during this very sad time. :sad2:

Kim. :grouphug:

You are in my thoughts!

Kim- I'm so very sorry. I wish I had something to say that would make it all better. You, Ken and the girls are in my prayers today and always.

Kim - I apparently missed that you are going in Dec. What dates will you be there?
I didn't notice your ticker either! Our tickers are a week apart! We'll be there Dec. 10-17th. What are your dates and where are you staying?

Congrats on the new car!!! Have you thought about renting a stroller... not from Disney of courses.. they are crazy expensive. When we were there last Nov my friend rented one off site and she LOVED it... it was from Magic strollers... http://www.magicstrollers.com/?aCode=mousesavers $25 for the first day and $9 a day after that for a double stroller and its $15 for the first day and $8 a day after that for the single..... they delivered it to the hotel and she left it there for pickup ... very easy..
We're really trying to keep this trip on a tight budget. I really don't think I want to spend money renting one. Last time Andrew barely used it and that was 2 years ago. I even think Em will be able to go a while without one. I measured the trunk last night and we should be able to squeeze at least the single one I have and possibly even the double. I'd love to go stroller free but I don't think Em will last the whole week. We may be able to do certain things stroller-less but not the entire trip.

This past weekend we went to visit DS at school and to watch his golf tournament... the visit and the tournament were nice but the hotel visit reminded me of the great customer service we get at Disney hotels... I was sitting in the lobby with my mom just chatting and the gentleman who was working the desk kept interrupting our conversation... butting in.. then he would go off on tangents talking about police officers carrying machine guns in Europe and ways that we could sue the government so as to not have to work... thinking that I might be able to get rid of him I ask if the hotel offered suites...thinking I would upgrade to a larger room and then we could go visit in there... no one likes to sit on beds and chat.. any way... the hotel does put out a dessert tray in the evening... he got up all pissy and said the desserts were still frozen and everyone wants something for free... I told him I was talking about a room... not pastries!!! He was such a jerk...
You should just stick to Disney! :thumbsup2 No other hotel ends a conversation with "Have a magical day!"

I'll be there Dec 2-10. Staying at AKL Kidani. We are renting DVC points and this is an absolute dream for us!!

Meghan - how did Madison do at the Feis?

She got a 4th and a 5th. It's not what she needs, but at least it was confidence boost. At the last two competitions, she didn't get anything. :sad2: Right now, she needs to get 1st place in all 4 of her soft shoe dances and she needs a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in her 2 hard shoe dances. Talk about pressure!

That is about 15 minutes from my house..... maybe I will be able to get away to come watch... that is Maggie's birthday so don't know what we have planned... but shouldn't take up the whole weekend!!!!

Cool! There is no cost to get into the feis which is awesome. I'm hoping that she'll do well there! The feis is on Nov 5th.

Last night we traded in our gas guzzling 16 mpg Ford Explorer that needed about $2000 worth of work for a shiny new Nissan Versa that gets 32 mpg highway. :woohoo: It will save us tons on gas just with DH going back and forth to work. While we were driving it home DH got all quiet and I could tell he was in deep thought. Turns out he was doing the math in his head for how much we will save when we drive it to Disney in Dec! :goodvibes It's such a happy moment for me when DH talks Disney without me bringing it up first!

We will spend less on gas but it means I really have to be careful with the amount of stuff I pack. It's a hatchback and it doesn't have nearly as much storage room as the Explorer. The stroller is my main concern. I have a double Maclaren that we always take but this time we may just end up buying a cheap umbrella for Em and letting the two of them take turns in it. Andrew is really too big but his legs tire out easily and I know he's not going to make it the entire week. It's nice having the double if we need it for both of them to sit or even just to carry our stuff while the kids walk. I might have to do a dry run with our stuff soon to see what to do.

Congrats on the new car!!! :thumbsup2 I too was going to mention renting a stroller, but Wendy beat me to it. I've heard wonderful things about Orlando Stroller Rentals. I might use them on Cole's first trip (which will hopefully be next summer).

morning girls!Ok...pressure has been on to find a better priced room since no code, pin, or offer has been given for our dates for Room Only. As you know, FD just doesn't save us as much as the RO discount. BUT,..that vs. no savings and cutting waaay back makes the FD look much better!! LOL
So, buy changing our dates to coming in on the Sat instead of the Friday, we got FD...but we lost the CR theme park view-which is okay, not a deal breaker, but got a garden view at the .....Poly!! My kids will be so happy! They love it over there the most. We saved a total of $2243 by downgrading our view a little bit, and taking free dining. our main reason for doing the Fri-Sat instead of the Sat-Sun we usually do is the Thanksgiving day crowds. By the time Sun rolled around last year, it was a great diff in crowds everywhere we went...so we may end up changing this ressie to leave late on Sat night--my older son has a job doing the media stuff at church on Sun mornings and he might not be able to miss two Sun mornings...we'll see how it pans out, but either way I am muuuuch happier. Another thing we had to consider was ticket cost-if we split our stay to All Star suites the first half and the CR the 2nd half, our tix would be 4 days each, instead of 8 days total and the price wouldn't have dropped like it does usually. so...I think we did the right thing!!
I can at least relax and not keep checking for discounts a million times a day!!! I know we are at Garden View at the Poly...so, I am not sure if I should just see what we get, or make some kind of a request....any ideas? I don't remember what Category we had last time ,but I know we were in the Tokelau building...We had Auteroa (sp?) back when we were there in 03--the mono went right past our room! I loved it!! but, I think it was quite a walk to the monorail...can't remember.

May you be written in the Book of Life for a good year!

Hi Snowbirds!

I had a rough day and am SOOOOO ready for my Disney trip to get here!

I got a certified letter from my homeowners company this afternoon letting me know they are going to drop us! :scared1: Apparently the underwriter is upset that I have a home daycare that I didn't disclose. WHAT???? I've had a $300,000 rider on my regular insurance policy for the past 4 years with them so how can they not know I run a daycare out of my home???? I've even had to send them a copy of my license in the past so how can they say they are unaware that I have a daycare when they've covered me for 4 years!!! UGH it's ridiculousness. And to top it off, I call my insurance rep and he was more interested in selling me car insurance to save me money by bundling everything than in helping me with the problem at hand. :headache:

Only 70 more days til I leave for Disney... :cloud9: We told the kids about the trip over the weekend! They think we are leaving Sat 12/10 so it will be a shock when we wake them to leave at 4am on Friday 12/9 :woohoo: It's our sneaky way of making sure they go to bed normal on Thursday and get enough rest. If they know we are leaving Friday morning then they will be too excited to sleep Thursday night.
