~Snowbird Chat 2~

Red, we are in the heart of Steeler country here LOL The Steeler pride is actually a bit overwhelming. I'm doing my best, as an Eagles fan, to go with it. Ry LOVES the Steelers. His bedroom looks like someone puked up black and gold everywhere.

DH has taken on quite a few projects this weekend. New fridge prompted new cabinet hardware, faucets and trash cans. That turned into new hardware in the bathrooms, too. Don't know what he was thinking! Results look great, though.

Other good news! Chase decided, at 14 months, that he likes to use the potty like a big boy! He doesn't make it every time but he is going daily for me.

Happy Superbowl Sunday Snowbirds!

We are not football people by any means, but living 45 minutes outside of Pittsburgh we kind of have to watch the superbowl today!! It's so funny, people around her are so obsessed with it. Grocery stores and restaurants are closing early! :upsidedow

In other news. . . AT released rates for our dates -- $114 each way. :faint: Grand total - $997! :scared1: Way too much! We are used to paying $650-$700. I guess I'll wait them about. . .

Potty training at 14 months -- that's impressive Mindy! :cool1:

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

I work today til 5ish. I say "ish" because well it's Super Bowl Sunday(!) so my store will be dead from about 4pm on considering we are in the heart of Packer Country! I'll leave work early and head to the Super Bowl Party!

Got approved for time off...March 15-22 I'll be in Florida for sun, sand and Baseball :goodvibes

Also, 300 days from now I'll be in Disney!!
Hooray for your March getaway!

Way to go Chase!! I've got three 2 yr old boys in diapers right now that I'd love for him to come over and teach them to use the potty. :thumbsup2

Closing early for football...now that's dedication.

That airfare is steep. You could always drive (though I wouldn't recommend it) :rolleyes1

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Andrew is feeling better. We even ventured out yesterday to New Jersey to Camping World and bought a new little grill to take with us camping this spring. We made burgers and corn on the cob for dinner and pretended we were camping. Come on spring...any day now!

Hello Birdies!

Slow moving today....nursing a wonderful Super Bowl Hangover....:rolleyes1
And to top that off, my mother has started some liquid cleanse thingy, so there is no coffee here.....NOT GOOD!

Airfare went up today for the times of our trip...need to keep checking those now and just book when/if they drop...

Have a great Monday everyone

Morning, well, afternoon birdies! We were pretty much stacked for the Packers at our little SB party yesterday afternoon....so YAY US!! LOL...I didn't watch but just a few minutes of it really...but I did love the Half-Time show....much better than previous ones that's for sure...and I was thankful nobody came out pretty much naked!! The bikini on the Adam Sandler commercial had me freaking out!! we were trying to herd the little boys away from the tv at that point! You just never know what they are gonna show!
Anyhoo....we have warmed up quite a bit this weekend...just intime for Arctic blast # 2 this week...should be cold and freezing again in a day or so here.
We are doing school quite late today...we slept late after our late night. I have to get up and outta here before long...we have 1/2 doz eggs and about a quart of milk left. Which is a pretty good read on everything else here food wise. Can I just say again how much menu-planning and cooking is my downfall? UGH!!! I wish I was a woman with the gourmet flair and looked to cooking with relish and passion...but, alas.....it's more of a grudge for me!! LOL...But...it's a thing that must be done...so I am off to make that list!!! Hope ya'll are all thawing out before the next round of weather....Spring I can look forward to...Summer...Forget it!!! Have a good monday!!!

Hi Birdies! :cool1:

I'm still in my Disney funk, but...I was talking with my sister the other day about her family's summer travel plans. She said they haven't decided on anything yet, but her idea is a trip to WDW. They have been to Disneyland several times, but haven't been to WDW in many years. Her DH lived in southern CA when he was little and he likes Disneyland, but doesn't care for WDW. :confused3:sad2: So now I'm feeling inspired to give her some suggestions for a great trip so her DH will love it! :cheer2:

They have three kids: a daughter, 15; a son, 13; and a daughter, 8. The youngest has never been to WDW! I think the last time they went they stayed at one of the Downtown Disney hotels. I don't remember what time of year it was, but apparently DBIL thought it was too crowded, and it was too much hassle getting from place to place. My sister is thinking about going as soon as her kids get out of school in mid-May, and leaving right before Memorial Day weekend. That should be a good time crowd-wise and weather-wise, won't it? And they are definitely planning on a Disney resort, so that should reduce travel times some, as compared to staying at Downtown Disney. So what else should I suggest to her? I think I'm going to recommend they look into staying at a DVC villa. They usually get two hotel rooms when they travel--I don't think they would consider any of the single rooms that sleep five. I also want to tell her she should get busy making ADRs, but I don't want to scare her off already! Especially since she didn't actually ask for any advice... :upsidedow

Hey, we'll be there a few of those days too! I hope it's nice and sunny for us!!!

I've yet to try a grey goose!
YUMMY!!!!! Nuf said.
Send me some tagalongs! Love them!!!!! :goodvibes
I'd be happy to. Just send the money! No seriously, if you can't get them where you are, PM me and I can make it happen.

Yay Chase!!! My DH is a Steelers fan (lots of PA family) and for some reason, Sarah decided she'd root for the Packers. Now we are generally very ANTI-Packer. We're Vikings fans. Not sure why she decided that. I think it's something to do with some kids at school being packer-backers. Paige was very sad, b/c she wanted her Daddy's team to win and then Sarah kept gloating like she had some stake in the game. Heck, she barely knew what was going on!

Isn't it odd - we would be so happy with that airfare! We can't find anything less than about $350 RT lately for March. We had about $200 RT for last summer, and that was a bargain. I always thought that since we were a hub for Delta, we'd get better deals, but apparently that's just not so!!! Good luck - I hope they come down for you!

Well, I had to take a break from all the crazy work - I was missing DISing too much!!! It's getting cold again for a few days and then this weekend should warm up to the 30s!! I'll be heading off to scrapbook on Thursday night and can't wait!! I'm totally unorganized, and have spent lots of time digging through pictures. I might be okay by Thursday and be ready to go...

Kathy- I would just gently remind your sister that if they would like to have sit down meals, it's suggested that you make some ADRs sooner rather than later, as the popular places do book up. They are going at a good time - lots of places (like here) are still in school until mid-June. I imagine it won't be crowded until the holiday weekend. I agree the villa would be nice for them. Extra space with teens is always a good idea!!!

Okay, I suppose I should read my other subscribed threads, and maybe throw an update on my PTR soon!!! I'm such a slacker!!! I did get my Cruise documents and luggage tags in the mail - I'm so excited!!!!

I sure hope Sarah's having a blast! I can't wait to hear about it!! (she says selfishly)

I was pricing airfare again today. It's like an addiction. I found RT flights through priceline for $204pp. The only problem is that it's not from the local airport. It would be a 2 hr drive. I'm just going to just stop pricing LOL.

SW released their rates today. They are at $114 each way as well. :faint: I do not want to pay nearly $1000 for airfare!! :scared1:

Guess I'll keep waiting and hope they come down. . . :wizard:

Kathy...the year we went in May we were there the 19th thru the 25th *a shorter trip than usual*..but the crowds were higher than I anticipated...if she goes a few days earlier than that it may be better....FL schools get out a little earlier than other places. Or thats what we were told..but, it was not crazy-by any means! also, the Flower festival thing is winding down...there will still be plenty to see then...it was beautiful!! And yeah..she needs to decide on ADRs quick!!!!
Airfare- for us we always shoot for around $200...anything under that is a bargain!!!!!

Drive by posting....I promise to stop by again soon and get all caught up but I'm exhausted this week!

Just wanted to share that Jason got a call for an interview next Tuesday!!! This is the job he's been trying to get into for over a year now so please pray that things go well! This would be such a fantastic opportunity for him! :yay:

I was thinking of doing something really crazy - going down for one of the TiW special events (Feb 17 or Mar 5). I figured, what the heck, I have the card, why not? Well, airfare is more than $400 for one person! Not gonna happen. Oh well.

At least it's not going to snow for a couple of days!

Arg! Why is airfare so expensive?? That sounds like it would have been fun.

Our associate pastor called not that long ago to ask my husband how much it would be to charter a flight from PA to Mass. I wish I could have had a pic of her face when he told her it would be $15k. He doesn't fly charter any more, thankfully, but his flights now are way more costly LOL

OH Birdies!!

I'm in the same boat the price of airfare is just ridiculous!! I keep hoping for a SW ding or some sort of deal but it looks like I'm going to have to pay almost 150.00 for one part of my flight in April, I should have booked right away when I had the chance!! Thankfully the other one was paid for using credits so it won't be a huge cost!!

I will have a voucher for the June flights, but those prices are ridiculous too, I just can't believe it....I don't understand the price hike either, maybe it has something to do with the price of gas going up?????

definitely fuel hikes...and they know most people are starting to prepare for spring/early summer vacas....remember how on the doris day movies or any old ones like that... they would just pack a bag and take off!! No planning, and obviously it was affordable....and the family would just walk up to the gate AT the plane and wave people goodbye!!! Can't imagine that now!!!!

I GOT a PIN!!!!

Actually we got the same pin to both mine and dh's email!
So I immediately click through to test out some fall dates... every week I enter it says no availability? Some PIN!!!
I am going to try to call - maybe tonight!

Hi ladies!

Well, I'm home again, but only have enough time to catch up on what I missed and do a drive-through posting. I can do a mini-TR later. However, the important part was it was sunny and warm (even hot in Nassau!) for the duration of the trip. We even got to go swimming at Castaway Cay, where Jeremy got a WHOPPER of a sunburn (men!). The ship was interesting and I'll post more about it later!!

It was raining when we got off the ship, which seemed appropriate for ending the trip. It was sunny when we landed in Detroit, if only 10F. Brr. :)

J~ sorry your pin was crummy!
S~ glad you are home safely...can't wait to hear details and see some great pics!!!
