Snow-Wigd and the Christmas Elves, a December pre-trip!

No black friday here in Canada, is it really that crazy ??

Black Friday really is crazy and I think people either love it or hate. I personally hate it and I wouldn't step anywhere near a store on Friday. I hate being around that many people. No deal is that good. I'm a bargain shopper everyday, so I personally think its overrated.

I also think it brings out the mob mentality. And last year someone was trampled to death when a walmart was opened. :sad2:

This year I noticed that there are a lot of stores opening at midnight on Thanksgiving. Nothing like starting Black Friday at 12:01.

Wigd - your last day at school sounds like so much fun. I bet you made a great Pocohantas. Have a great 5 day weekend!!!!!

Today we finished our Thanksgiving word finds. Completed our "Favorite Thanksgiving Foods" graph. Packed up our turkey ceiling art and our table top turkeys. Made wreathes to hang up next week and brainstormed illustrations for our "parent gift" calendars. Lastly we watched "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving". Oh yes and did I mention that "Pocahontas" visited 2nd grade today and did calendar?
It's going to be a fantastic 5 day holiday break!

FUN! We went to the orthodontist, and I laid on the couch reading. Oh, and I called Disney to have a chat about a July vacation. ;)

Well my 2nd grade wrote a brief constructed response about what he was thankful for... At least he decided he was thankful for paper airplanes...

:lmao: That's hilarious!

I have already cheated listening to Christmas music in my car!!! :rotfl:

I have been, also. I just couldn't help myself!

I'm not doing anything exciting, but it is going to be wonderful not to hear my name called all day for five days.

Also, I will not hear, "She's touching my things," or "He skipped me," or "I did my homework but I left it at home."

I am thankful that I have a job.
I am thankful for my breaks from that job, too. :)

AMEN! It's been very nice to not hear, "Why do we have to do this?" "Ugh, grammar again?" "I don't know if I can do my homework tonight: I have wrestling/basketball/band/tv watching..."

Although I will gladly listen to all of it if it means I still have a job!

I wish he were in my class! I took Jackie's idea and had all 56 second graders load up all their worldly possessions, consisting of coats, backpacks, and tote trays and head out to our black top area where we measured off the Mayflower. Each child then boarded the ship and we discussed the voyage. Today, Pocahontas (ok, it was me in a costume) welcomed them to the new land. It was a hoot....

I am so glad you had fun doing that!

Do we get pictures of Pocahontas??? :lmao:

I am oh so thankful for the opportunity to sleep in the next 5 mornings.
No Black Friday shopping for me, we are keeping Harper overnight so Megan can go out and brave the crowds!

No Black Friday for me either. That's the day we decorate the house for Christmas while drinking hot chocolate and eating Thanksgiving leftovers.

Yes, every bit as crazy as it's rumored to be!
ROFR= iIsney likes Wigd but not Mary LOL. Congrats on the points. We will get ours someday....Yay for the time off!!

Awwww, Mary, I'm really sorry that Disney bought your contract. I wonder if they had someone wait listed to buy those points?

I'm so looking forward to some time to get ready for our trip. Might even have Marc drag up the luggage....
I would come closer to heading out at midnight than 4am. Or better yet, just sending Shocker out.

Hmmmmm, do tell!

We had so much fun doing that and I think it was meaningful to the kids! I may be able to scrape up a picture.....

I think not much decorating here, Harper will just be busy getting into it all. Besides I don't want the chore of putting it all away when we get back from the trip.
Do I sound like a bah humbug?

If I was going to be spending Christmas at Disney, I doubt I would do much either.

My lips are sealed for now about trip plans...don't want to jinx anything. :rolleyes1

Me too on less decorating if I was headed to Disney. They decorate way better than I do (I think my husband thinks his lights compare though)

TRIP PLANS... when do those lips get unsealed?

Laura, I want to know more about the garage....
Was he after Christmas decorations?

I love your mayflower activity! How fun!

where's the picture of pocohantas?

The garage.... grrrr!

We had a huge garage (extra room on the side and in front) in our last house. Now not so much. With a minivan and a camry it is a tight fit. We really leave out his car during the spring-summer-fall. But he had some boards from our neighbor and inspired to make our garage attic space usable (mind you my parents have a full unfinished basement where we can put things.... but he wanted to put in a bigger opening, ladder yada yada) So he put the garage stuff up above (bikes, etc) and crash. He stepped in the wrong spot and down came the drywall. I think repairing won't be too terrible.(my husband not so handy... neighbors and friends... more handy) Not sure about the texturing... not sure I care about that. I just do not want to see wires and floor boards!

But he didn't get hurt... the car is fine.... but still a headache!

I was looking at the pictures taken by my teammate. I need to crop out student faces before posting. I know, I know, you want your Thanksgiving giggle!

Oh Laura! That sounds like something Marc would do....
Actually he did when he was a kid. :lmao:
How soon will you have your work crew over to repair?

I'm glad he wasn't hurt!
:goodvibes

I bet!! I'm sure the kids are just itchin' to have a few days off too! I think our schools only give Thursday and Friday off around here, but I know they get quite a bit of time around Christmas. Plus gotta plan for the inevitable snow days. :sad2:

UGH!
You are killing me!
:rotfl:

Well, I will say that the dates I picked start on July 18, and I just put a hold on what I want -- I have until next Tuesday to put down a deposit.

TRIP PLANS... when do those lips get unsealed?

She hints and goes off the boards... tease!

:rotfl: I will unseal my lips completely when/if I put a deposit down on the package I asked them to hold.

Laura, I can't believe that about Doug and the garage! What a headache!

That's exactly what she did, but I bet she'll be back.....
Taunting, taunting, taunting...

:lmao: Sorry! You know I am superstitious about saying too much until I have an actual reservation.

We have a few snow days built into our school calendar, and we didn't have have a single snow day last year....
We are cutting it really close on our summer trip leaving just 2 days after our last contract day. So I'm hoping that we don't have much snow this year either.

Poor Doug, I can remember when I was a child, playing in our attic. Part of it had a floor but under the eaves there was just insulation. I knew not to go back there because I was convinced that I would fall into some sort of black hole and would never stop falling....

:lmao: Sorry! You know I am superstitious about saying too much until I have an actual reservation.

Yes, sure, we understand....:sad2:

This is me too - it's a great time for people watching!
I'll probably wish I were going, but alas, I will be babysitting and getting about 5 extra hours of sleep over you guys.
