I plan on helping Baylor a little more with his plate on this trip. Is the mac and cheese different at Biergarten than the rest of WDW? He is not a fan of the runny mac and cheese that is served elsewhere....

I had a little taste of the mac and cheese because someone was saying how good it was and no it was not runny....it is like "real" mac and cheese and not velveeta type. I only wanted a smidgen of a taste because I was filling up on warm salad and my liter of beer (I have no idea what came over me...I don't drink a liter in a month! I only drank half )

I've been reading a bit on the DVC December trip thread.
Hoping to get some information on the Merry Mixers that are held in the month of December.
I just read that they will be having one from 3-5 on the 24th at the I.G.!
I think that will work out rather nicely after our lunch and before the Candlelight Processional.
I was sad to miss MVMCP so this makes up for it a little...

Celebrate the holiday season by mixing and mingling with all your Disney Vacation Club neighbors. This complimentary Member event will be held at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot® every Friday in December from 3 to 5 p.m. Remember to bring your Member I.D. — it's required for admission.

The whole family is invited for an afternoon of festive fun, such as Disney character photo opportunities, an activity area just for kids and a merry special giveaway. We'll also be decking the halls and enjoying light refreshments.

This event is just one of the many perks of a Disney Vacation Club Membership — and our holiday gift to you.

Now I'm seeing a little mistake, the dates are clearly for Thursdays but it also says held on Fridays....

I suppose that I'll need to do some checking with member services, I hope that I didn't get all excited over something we won't be able to attend.

How crazy is that???? That's a very glaring mistake. It must be on thursdays is the dates coincide with Thursdays. I hope you get to go. It sounds like fun!

Anita...I really have appreciated your conversation about DVC with MEK!! Prince P and I are seriously considering buying in the next year and we have been doing our homework and I'm glad we aren't wrong in serisouly considering resale as our option...that and I might want to buy at Old Key West and that would be the only way to go LOL!!!!!! So the two of you have been extremely helpful!!!

Not to Hijack - but Jen - see what happens when you actually stay DVC? It makes you appreciate how it was really designed for us Disney World addicts. Seriously, you always feel connected to the magic since those points are always there, calling your name, waiting to be used. I hope that you do decide to buy. I don't think you will regret it!

We have been in contact with the Timeshare Store and we are looking over a few resale contracts that are really attractive to us!! I'll let you know when I become a co-member with you guys!!!

Nope, grocery shopping is definitely not as much fun as buying more DVC points LOL!!!!!!! I'm really excited about our venture into DVC...I'd buy the first one I saw...thankfully Prince P has more financial sense than that and is doing all the number cruching LOL

Do you usually do one of the dining plans? How does that work for DVC members?

The Biergarten food looks good. Not sure if my nephews will eat it though.
And my older nephew feels the same way as Baylor about the mac and cheese in WDW. Even the instant Kraft mac that you microwave is better. Since I can't cook, I'm an expert on microwavable meals As my nephew says "When I go to Grandma's, she cooks for me. When I go to Aunt Jenny's, she orders online."

Did you see that 150 point contract at Beach Club with all the banked points? We were sooooo close. It was the right contract month and everything for us.....

If you are thinking of buying, do yourself a favor and visit DVC chat on Sunday nights, they give really good advice! I'm sold on the resale market as I've said. Normally we don't do the dining plan, we use a TIW card. For our Christmas trip we will do the dining plan. All you have to do as a DVC member is add it to your stay. Member services takes care of everything. You can do that if you rent points as well.

The Biergarten food looks good. Not sure if my nephews will eat it though.

Baylor learned his lesson a few years ago when he loaded up a plate full of mac and cheese and Hollywood and Vine..... He wasn't a bit pleased with it!
I took a look at the menu at Biergarten and they do have some stuff that he will eat. Roast chicken, roast pork, roast potatoes, pretzel bread..... I think he'll eat.

I checked the Timeshare Store and there were so many great deals. I'm leaning towards the resale market. It's cheaper and I can buy more points!

I'd love to try DVC and rent points, but I don't know about it's reliability. I need to do some research.

It's a great way to stay deluxe and pay a fraction of the price.....
You can also have the owner add on the dining plan for you if that's the way you want to go!

We have rented points three times before, there used to be a guy on ebay that rented out points at OKW, he had a very high feedback rating. Then another time we rented off the DIS board rental thread. The owner books your trip with their points, then you get the paperwork from ME (if you are using it). The owner will also add on the dining plan if you want it. When you walk in, they will charge you for the dining plan and you are treated just the same as a DVC owner. It's fabulous!
If you find someone that you want to rent from....
You negotiate your price and then move forward. It really isn't complicated at all. The thing with renting points is usually you are limited to a 5 night trip excluding Friday and Saturday nights. You could always move on to a value or mod for those nights.....or start out at the value or mod.
