Snow White

I really despise CGI I feel like it's ruining movies they all seem like cheap PS5 animations even the new Jurassic World trailer looks atrocious it was much better Jurassic Park 1 with just animatronics.

It appears Disney is very worried about this movie. The mainstream media was NOT allowed to the premier, so no movie reviews prior to the first weekend. I am not sure I will go see it, I guess if my grandkids really want to watch it, I will take them.

Review embargo was always a few days before release. Disney is coming off more like they don’t care what this movie does at the box office, they just want it released, recoup whatever they can, and move on.

Marketing for it is definitely lower than their standard, ticket sales later than normal for a release.

They’ve pretty much accepted it as a loss with how they’re treating it.

Besides all the issues, there are many remakes of the story of Snow White. They all try to make Snow a more modern woman. So when Disney is going to do it, it is not something new either.

I think it's to avoid a setup type situation on Gal or Rachel and cause more controversy.

I enjoyed Rachel a lot in the Hunger Games prequel, so I will see Snow White for sure. Her acting and singing is so captivating so I'm sure i'lll find the movie entertaining.

Damage control 101: Host a fake premier with in-house photographers/journalists and staged shoots. Then they have Jodi Benson do the questioning as a host really showed me how they are trying to stop the bleeding. It's the right call, but concerned this may become the norm for Disney releases in the future.

With no other real movies to compete with this weekend, I'd say <$60M with an overall box office <$250M. I think this sets the stage for a D+ release by July 4th.

I'm not spending $$ to see the Rachel Zegler version of Snow White in theaters nor will I watch it when it comes out on Disney+. She's super annoying and needs to shut up with her political nonsense and stick to singing and acting. Disney made a huge mistake casting her in that.

Disney also totally mucked up the 7 dwarfs...they were originally going to be 'magical beings/creatures' or something like that, in response to Peter Dinklage's rant about little people being cast as the 7 dwarfs. So instead, Disney cast 7 REGULAR-SIZED PEOPLE but shrunk them with CGI. Um...that's worse. Pictures got leaked online and the Internet had a total cow about it.

So then they re-did that and replaced them all with 7 CGI'd dwarfs instead.

So they should have just hired REAL ACTORS WHO ARE LITTLE PEOPLE!

Zegler wanted to turn Snow White into a story it never was. She should go and write her own new screenplay and try to get it made into an actual movie.

We may or may not see Snow White this weekend. We definitely will see Rachel Zegler in the role of Eva Perón at the London Palladium this summer.

I was able to see Snow White early. Overall, it was a good (not great) movie that was better than I was expecting. It seems many of the rumors and speculation regarding characters or plot were either unfounded or terribly misguided. For example, I don't believe it was ever confirmed that the leaked photos of seven humans were actually supposed to be the dwarves.

I honestly had more of an issue with weird choices like calling Snow White "fearless, fair, brave, and true." Umm, live action Mulan (which I loved) already had the phrase and song "Loyal, Brave, True." An entire writing team seriously couldn't come up with different adjectives for Snow White??

Gal Gadot was stunning in every scene she was in, and I feel like she did a great job, although some of her dialogue and songs weren't the best. I put the fault on the writing team, though, for both this and any other issues or questions left unanswered.

I'm glad I saw it, but it's not something I would be interested in watching over and over again. Also, the music (for me) wasn't really catchy or something I'd play on repeat.

I did score a $35 popcorn bucket that looks like the Queen's box for Snow White's heart, though, so that's a win!

Reveiws are coming in, but they are mixed. It seems though that it is pretty solid and not some kind of affront to the original like many seem to be carrying on about. It's maybe a little too safe. Word is that Zegler crushes all of her songs. I may see it - I don't usually love the straight remakes, but it sounds like a good bit was changed to some degree. I kinda want to do it just becuase of all the negativity.

No desire whatsoever to see it in theaters or at home. Then again being honest, Disney hasn't produced much that makes me want to go see it. Producing things like Snow White is just further reinforcing my belief that Disney is out of touch with the audience.

Went today.

Preface by saying Snow White is my least favorite princess and haven't seen the original movie in decades. I describe her as "having no defined lines" meaning visually she is blah and without personality. I find her a bit of a space cadet. I hated her voice. I have more interest in the dwarfs and evil queen. DS#1 has always loved her and was upset when her ride left. I have no idea why she is such a favorite, with minimal language skills he can not explain to me. Since they first put the new movie out there it was painful for him to wait so long.

Today was the day. I went in with no expectations to like it due to not liking Snow White, heard some of the Rachel complaints on her comments about Snow character, I know folks were upset with Rachel casting which was no issue for me, I knew some complained about the dwarf casting but didn't follow that. So I went in fairly whatever and let them prove it bad or good or indifferent.

My thoughts ~
~ It was very well shot with extensive detailing, angles, colors, "sets" etc.
~ It moved pretty well, not too much slow stuff. (DS took no nap so that says alot)
~ I thought Rachel did a great job, beautiful voice, enough nods to old while modernizing.
~ Her comments on a stronger woman very much fell in line with the story Disney is telling.
~ I loved I had no idea who the BF was in real life, can't remember old, so refreshing.
~ Enjoyed there was some adult chuckles, nods to the old story and a kinda more mature Princess movie. (I mean they even had a Megan2 advertisement before it!!) I would say def not for preschool set.
~ Old music was done really well. New music was .... not very original almost some has music notes from other movies woven in.
~ Transitioning from Queen to Witch was awesome, as well as the Mirror.
~ CGI animals and dwarfs were incredible. Very detailed and fluid. I felt their feelings.
~ Gal was not a good overall casting. She had the face, the ability to go evil in the face and the height BUT it didn't work. Her voice did not work for the queen, she can not sing and in the big theatrical sing/dance on stairs it came off as parody. She just couldn't harness an evil queen energy. Total miss.

We will likely go again, DS will want to, and surprisingly I'm okay with it. Was it top notch Disney best? No, but it was a harder story to pull off and make it all work. Movies are changing, not sure where it is heading but I thought it was fine.
