I posted this on the squirrel post - but thought others might be interested in it!

Cool. I've never seen a white squirrel and didn't know there was such a thing. We only have brown and black ones here. Thanks for posting it.

VERY cool - looks like it may be albino. Squirrels in MI are busy these days - had to brake (safely) for two of 'em today.

Denise < --- looking forward to seeing *my* two gray squirrels in FL soon.

Beautiful! ::yes:: If you're able to get more pics of the squirrel playing in the tree, please post them! :teeth:

Thanks for posting this picture. We have an albino squirrel in the neighborhood but have never had the camera ready when we've seen him!
Aren't they neat looking though? :teeth:

Do you know what that means?

A former co-worker of mine was from Scandinavia. She saw one one fall several years ago. She FREAKED out. She said we were going to have a TERRIBLE winter, more snow than we've ever seen. We kindof laughed it off. Yeah right, for many years the winter temp rarely dipped below 35. Oh my gosh, was she ever right. That year was a TERRIBLE winter. We had one snow storm that dumped at least 25" of snow w/in a day. We had like a blizzard every 10 days.

Well, if we have snow & a terrible winter - I'm moving out of FL!

We just went through Ivan - so, Snow would be the icing on the cake. Atleast we have enough firewood to stay warm for the next two winters.

In this part of Michigan we have lots of black squirrels. Jet black critters. They can all be traced back to one man: W.K. Kellogg (of ceral fame). Dr. Kellogg liked the looks of them and had some imported from Europe early last century.

A guy I work with has a picture that he took of a white squirrel. Until right now I thought his was a fake :)

VERY cool. Never saw a white one before. Only brown and black as said above. Neat!!

An FYI, the picture can not be seen always. You need to go to imagestation, go to the storage bin, clink on the small picture and get the url from the larger one that pops up. The .orig.jpg at the end of the one here makes it not work right.

I did the full picture from image station at my storage bin - it seems to be a hiccup with the image station server

Olney, Illinois is known as the Home of the White Squirrels...I lived there as a child. There are loads of albino squirrels in Olney.

We had an albino squirrel around for awhile but I imagine something happened to it. We also had a very rare albino deer but we know what happened to it....a hunter shot it and bragged to everyone. It was a shame because it was so beautiful and rare. Thanks for sharing the pic!

that pic is really neat!

i'm surprised at all the posts about brown squirrels. i've only seen gray and black ones.

Update -

Our little squirrel has a bigger white squirrel with him/her (2 white squirrels total) and a bigger brown squirrel with him/her.

They are so cute playing together! (Sorry - couldn't get the camera to take a pic of all three).

The funniest thing - is the cat doesn't know what to do about them. She can't figure out what they are! Also - I don't believe the squirrels are albino - They have the normal brown/black eyes - not the red eyes.

I am from North Carolina and I was very suprised at how BIG the squirrls are in MI. They can be the size of a small cat. (I lead a very sheltered life)

My friend and co-worker is from Olney too! Small world :) She has a calendar with the white squirrels on it!
