When we travel and share a room with family we have snoring issues!! Have tried the nasal strips with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions for what has worked for them?

earplugs? lol :lmao:

My DH snores and I am always telling him to turn over...lol:laughing:

When we travel, DH and DS sleep in the same bed, DD and I have the other.

DH snores like crazy. I am usually in bed asleep before him which helps. When he gets really loud and wakes me up, after my rest room break, I walk to him and get him to turn over by poking him.

That will usually gain me another 2 hours of sleep before it starts again and then I make sure I have a pillow or 2 handy and throw those at him.

Luckily DS and DD sleep like logs so he doesn't wake them up. About half way thru the trip, I'm so exhausted I can then sleep thru anything.

I've tried earplugs but they make my ears sweat and then fall out.

Good luck finding what works for you.

My DH (wow that's weird saying that, I just got married 3 days ago! Anyway...) snores horribly and he wakes me up every single night. The weekends are the only nights I can sleep ok, because I can use earplugs. At Disney, we sleep in separate beds so I can be as far away from the noise as possible and if he wakes me up, I actually get up, get out of bed, and start pushing and shoving him until he stops. :rotfl: I have no suggestions, I deal with this on a nightly basis, not just at Disney! :rotfl2:

The only thing that has worked for me are mulitple hotel room or a condo with mulitple bedrooms. We don't bunk up with extended family who snore any more. We love having them along, but they need to be in a different room.

My husband isn't too bad, but if he starts snoring before I'm in a deep sleep, I sleep on the couch to get a good night's rest.

Another vote for earplugs. My hubby snores like a train most nights, so I keep a pair of plugs on my nightstand and can just pop them in if he gets out of control.

Have you ever tried an allergy medicine like Claritin D? It stopped the snoring for my husband (after we had tried the strips, spray, etc.). Someone suggested it to me and I really didn't think it would work. He has never had any allergy problems......except snoring (duh).

Be sure to give it at least a week if you try it!

The one thing I hate about vacationing is the snoring factor! I never, ever, ever leave for a vacation without ear plugs and my white noise maker. Between the two of them (and maybe a sleeping pill, lol) is what gets me through. Wish there was a way to shut them up, but unfortunately I haven't found that yet!

New dental appliances that move the lower jaw ahead of the upper, opening the airway enough to prevent or reduce snoring.

Available via websearch for about $40 - 50.

Or, you can make your own with two mouthguards glued into the appropriate locations...

Get the person to sleep on their side. This works for me. I use to sleep on my back and snored, once I started sleeping on my side I stopped. I lost about 40 LBS over the last 2 years and when I do happen to roll over on my back, it's not as bad. Glad we didn't go with the free dining.:)

Definitely earplugs. And maybe a white noise machine would help drown it out with something pleasant and peaceful? :lmao:

I wear earplugs, DH doesn't snore that loud, but I wear them for other noises(I'm a really light sleeper).

Both of us were referred to a sleep specialist for sleep studies to check for sleep apnea, a dangerous condition. A change of sleep position was enough to virtually eliminate the snoring of one of us, and the CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine (which works by blowing air up the nose and opening the breathing passages) eliminated the sleep apnea (and snoring) of the other. It also provides restful sleep and lowers the chance of several nasty outcomes.

I snore HORRIBLY LOUD due to a spinal cord/neck injury. I find two things help:

1) Get a small humidifier, they make one that is a big as a 250 count matchbox and takes just a regular plastic bottle of water. They cost around $30-$50 on Amazon. I always find in hotel rooms are super dry. The humidifier just does around where the person is sleeping but it sure does help.

2) Ask the front desk or Mousekeeping for a fan. Put it on HIGH on the dresser/tv area facing down between the two beds, the white noise certainly drowns out the snoring.

Hope this helps!

Breathe Right Snore Relief throat spray. Seems to work for us. DH snores very loud when he's overtired from either the vacation drive or a "long" day in the parks. He says it doesn't taste the greatest but me and my 2 DD's say, "Too Bad!" (DD uses earplugs as well!)
