Ok, I'm a big baby - I admit it.

I was reading another thread on the resort board and they were talking about "things" in the pools - including a snake. :earseek: :crazy2: :faint:

How common is this?!?! I remember the little lizards at my great-uncles but I don't remember anything about snakes.

I don't do bugs/snakes/lizards - I'm a native of the northwest, we just don't have those things around here.

DS would probably have a fit!! :scared1:

I am wondering too. As I posted over there, the snakes bother me more than the main theme of the thread.
:scared: :worried: :faint:

I haven't seen one.
I HATE snakes.

I read some posts quite a while back abt snakes in the lazy river at BB too.

i haven't read the thread in question, but i've never seen a snake in the pool -- i've seen penty of lizards but they are tiny and are definitely more frightened of you than you are of them. not to mention, they are harmless.

and as far as not having bugs and snakes in the pacific northwest, yes you do! unless things have changed from the last time i was hiking out there (late 90's). :p

I've got kids - the poo thing doesn't bother me so much (then again I'm really really picky and they have to be in tight swim diaper that keep everything in cause I'm not dealing with floaters!!)

But snakes, nuh uh, no way!!! :faint:

I saw one snake in our backyard about a year ago and screamed!! :scared1: I sent DH and DS out back to go snake hunting while I sat in the house with the doors locked so they didn't try to come in and scare me!

As far as bugs, we don't have big bugs though!! Around the house we have flies/bees and the occasional moth, grasshopper. Not the big things we've seen down in Florida and especially not the fire ants which my brother used to torture me with!! :faint: :earseek:

Tinkboo&ElliesMum-

My son came up in the water at Typhoon Lagoon with a little lizard stuck to his face! If it would have been a snake, I think I would still be in therapy!

I'm with you about snakes - I like that here in the NW they are few and far between!

but there are ducks!!

At BCV, there were a pair who "lived" at the quiet pool while we were there in January...and at SAB, the lifeguards had an area roped off for a family of ducks who were teaching their babies to swim..what better place than a pool heated to 80*...:)

DS would come unglued if there was a lizard stuck anywhere near him, much less on him! He's used to cows around here not lizards!!

Ooooo, but a cow on his face could be dangerous!:sad2:

One did lick his bum while we were down at the farm getting milk, he screamed like a 3 year old girl at a Barbie convention. :rotfl:

I'd hate to see what he'd do with a lizard, snake, big scary bug!

I've told this story before on these boards but here goes...

As I was walking along the path that hugs the Cross Country Creek (aka the lazy river) at BB, I went to stick my foot under those tiny sprinklers they have on the sidewalk, and what to my wondering eye should appear, but a long black SNAKE - and it just slithered right into the lazy river. I almost stepped on it before it did that though.

I did NOT enter that lazy river again that day.;)

I've since been told that if CM's find snakes (or other assorted critters) in the pools, they have a tool to fish them out with. What they do with them after that - I don't know - and I don't care - as long as they stay away from me!

Usually snakes will avoid pools due to the chemicals used, but we did find one in our pool when we moved in. I saw a snake on our deck CHRISTMAS DAY.....cool weather at the time, mind you! Have seen one nearly every day since April. Thankfully, we have a terrace built off second floor level that I use. You won't find me outside standing on the ground without DH reaaalll close by! Terrified of the creatures!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :faint: :scared:

About 2 yrs ago..I encountered a yellow and black snake that was about 3 ft long which was making its way across the walkway next to the pool at Old Key West resort in WDW. This was just after sunset and the snake seemed to be more startled by my sudden presence that I was. I did report the incident to the CMs and they told me that its rare and that they are harmless. But the real interesting thing was the response of the supervisor CM who asked me to describe the snake in detail. After I had described it, he suddenly seemed rather concerned and tried to hide his reaction and I watched as he and 3 other people went out to where I had last seen the snake. It was actually heading towards the canal that abuts the pool area In OKW. They did close the pool and the pool area for a time. I have no idea what kind of snake it was. Never saw it or another again. But I have seem lots of cute bunnies near the pool and the one time that an infant alligator climbed up the bank of the canal just down from the pool. That was fun to watch the CMs and the special people they called in to handle the alligator. I wondered if he was ilegally pool hoping. But thats a true story anyway.

There are threads once in a while about snakes mostly at TL.
This was a thread that was on the them park planning board awhile ago. It was all about snakes at WDW!!

Now-- I have my own personal horror story about a snake encounter. I HATE them--- to the point I have nightmares and have had hypervenilating panic attacks when I've seen them.

Anyhow, late last fall I was on my way home from work. We were having an unusually warm day (as we had been having really cold weather for about a month already). I picked up my neice from daycare and was about 2miles from home. It was so warm I decided to turn on the AC in the car. About 30 seconds later, something caught my eye coming up out of the defroster vents on the dashboard. I couldn't believe what I was seeing-- well you know whats coming-- it was a snake:eek: !!! I pulled the car over right away-- I didn't even watch where I was going. I grabbed my purse off the passenger seat (all while watching the stupid thing slither around the dashboard). I then got my neice out of her carseat in the back (while watching the snake the whole time). I walked about 20 feet away from the car and went looking for my cell phone. Don't you know it fell out of my purse and was in the car. I didn't know what to do-- I could still see the snake and I could see my phone-- they were pretty far apart so I grabbed the phone-- only thing was nobody was answering at home (and I knew they were there). To make a long story short--- an acquantice drove by thinking I was having car trouble. I let them believe this because even if they took the snake out I wasn't getting back in THAT CAR!! So they took me home and DH went back to the car-- got the snake out. I still to this day have not gotten in that car. I won't. DH claims it's a fluke that it got in the car. He's says it's almost impossible. Well not impossible enough!!!! When I got dropped off DH didn't know what was going on-- I couldn't tell him because I was hysterical-- he thought I wrecked the car or something.

OMG I would have been a wreck! I scream if there's a spider in my van!!

I think I'd be looking for a new car after something like that!!

DH has since inheirted that car!! He can't even park it in the driveway because I don't want it near my car now!!!

I've never seen a snake in any of the WDW resort pools we've had the pleasure of swimming in.

Lots of those cute little lizards scampering about throughout the shrubs, grass, sides of buildings and such, but never in the pool.

Uh, yup, there's always snakes in the BB creek. And the lifeguards did have a tool to get them out. Don't worry, they were harmless 99.99% of the time!

I was the one who posted about a snake this past week at the POFQ pool. It was a small black one and one of the boys in the pool grabbed it and took it out. When I saw them he was standing with his parents and a couple of lifeguards holding it and I think they were saying they were just going to take it down to the river and release it. I hadn't heard any comotion before that so everyone who was nearby must have been snake fans!::yes::
