Snacks, Sips & Spooks in October 2012... and a Mexican Fantasy cruise in June 2013!

Awesome that you were able to get all the reservations you wanted!

Just curious how much is the fireworks cruise?

Right, you'll be seated 2-2-2. Hopefully you can get cars near each other! Make sure you get a picture, it's a great photo op ;)

Thanks for the info on Sci Fi :goodvibes .. hopefully we'll be sat in two cars near each other.. I'm guessing it's not a restaurant to sit and talk in anyway, we'll all be watching the movie clips!

Thanks! I'm still so pleased about the ADRs.. just the Wishes dessert party to book now, sure it'll be fine - I am checking the website every few days, just in case the August dates become available! :cutie:

The speciality cruise was $275 + tax ... that is for up to 10 people, and the price includes a captain to sail the boat, sodas & snacks (before we've had a cooler of Coke/Sprite cans, crisps (potato chips) and pretzels :thumbsup2 ... you can also have private dining bring some extra food & drink to the boat, such as champagne and canapes, at an additional cost.
There is the Grand Yacht 1 too at the Grand Floridian resort... that is about $500 an hour I believe! :wizard:

Hi everyone!

Not much to going on with Disney planning this week, I'm working my way through my studies ready for my accounting exams in May - so we're having a lot of quiet weekends :surfweb:

I did get a couple of exciting things in the post this week though!

First of all.. the latest edition of the D23 magazine arrived..

IMG_0818.jpg

I love getting this magazine and being a D23 member!

Also.. I got sent a brochure from Disney Cruise Line!

IMG_0823.jpg

It seemed quite topical as the Disney Fantasy arrived in New York this week for its christening ceremony, and is now on its way 'home' to Port Canaveral! :goodvibes it has got DH & I talking about our cruise next year - as the cruise is 7 nights, we need to decide when to fly out to Florida, where to stay before and after.. and for how many nights... plus what excursions to do in Grand Cayman and Mexico :cloud9:

I've been buying one item per week for our vacation in August when I do our supermarket shop (spreads the cost & is a fun way to count down the weeks!) .. and this week I was excited to find Disney Princess plasters (band-aids)!!

It was nice to see Tiana and Rapunzel have been added to the princesses princess:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

OMG! Finally, someone else who calls band-aids Plasters! Ever since I was a kid we always called those plasters, and so does every francophone I know. I assumed it was what anglophones called those, but as I got older and started hanging out with anglophones (and working at an english school), I realized all anglophones around here call them band-aids and look at me like I'm an alien for calling them plasters.

Sorry, random comment over. :rotfl:

Hi Mel! This made me smile.. everyone calls them 'plasters' in England :cutie: .. I do try on the boards to use US words when I'm typing - but I'm still learning which words we use differently here... for example - nappies (diapers), trainers (sneakers), football (soccer) ... !! :goodvibes

Ah! Disneymail is the BEST! I need to be a D23 member so that I can get gorgeous magazines like that!

Hi! Yes it's a great magazine, I read it cover to cover :goodvibes .. being a D23 member in the UK probably doesn't make much sense.. I doubt they'll ever hold any special events over here, and I have to pay an addition $50 on the membership to have it mailed .. but never mind, I like being part of the official club! :cutie:

So ... it's March already.. which means, time for the next newsletter to the family for our August trip! :goodvibes

This month I focused on Epcot, giving a quick over-view of the park .. also links to the Disney Parks blog, the 'Visit Orlando' website and the Disney Food blog :thumbsup2

I have most of the quiz questions planned for the next few months - can't believe this is the third edition already, the months are flying by this year!!

Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned,

I love your newsletters! What a great way to keep the family excited without overdoing it (as much of my friends & family would say I do!!)

I love your newsletters! What a great way to keep the family excited without overdoing it (as much of my friends & family would say I do!!)

Thank you! I'm really enjoying putting the newsletters together.. and I hope I'm getting the balance right of getting the family excited, but not overdoing it with my Disney-geek-ness :cutie:

Love the newest addition of your newsletter!

DH gave me a D23 membership for Christmas. Love it!!!

Thank you! That's a lovely Christmas gift, I usually have mine as my birthday present as it expires in the same month :cutie:

So... I've just been on the phone with Disney... and bought....

Our Annual Passes !!!! :woohoo: :yay:

I'd been trying online, but the WDW website always defaults back to the UK version when I tried (it assumes we all want to buy 14 day MYW hoppers, which is a special ticket offer they do for UK residents.. makes sense for most, but there's no option of an AP? :confused3) ... so I rang up tonight and spoke to a really lovely Cast Member :goodvibes all we have to do now is go to a Will Call booth on our first park day (which will be Animal Kingdom), pick up the passes & buy our Tables in Wonderland card :thumbsup2

Hi Emma, hope you had a fantastic weekend!

I love the latest newsletter, and you're making me jealous with your D23 subscription. ;)

I think the specialty fireworks cruise is going to go over famously with your family. We're thinking about doing one for Illuminations, but that all depends on what Disney's hours / schedule looks like. I am a bit bummed I have to wait another two weeks before I start to see the October hours, but maybe a break from planning would do me good. :good vibes

I also had to say that your schedules are fantastic. I might have to give that a shot for our October trip, so we can look at what time we have blocked off at which park / resort. It might force us to plan a bit more "Downtime" than we normally would!:thumbsup2

Oh, and the Barbie costume will be awesome.:good vibes

Cheers,

Jen

I think you should continue to use non-US words, as long as you put in parenthesis what it is for your US readers. It teaches me new words and I like them!

Mel, the other day I hurt myself at work and I was using the real word and no one understand. Then I said: No one has a plaster? And everyone was like: oh that's what you want lol

Yeah for AP's!! :banana::cool1:

I will be getting an AP for me as I will hopefully have an April trip with my family and I want the TIW card!

Hubby could actually use the 14day pass but not available in the US! We are going for 14 days and the most I can buy is a 10 day pass... It either means no Park days for 4 days or upgrading him to an AP which I don't think he will go for!!

Emma!!!!! I can't believe I am this late in joining!!

I have been so busy with work and stuff that I have hardly been on the Disboards!! Popped on today to ask a question and found this.

I have fully caught up you lucky thing!!! Can't wait to see your ADR's for October - I am hoping we get an overlap so we can meet up!!

You are going to love MNSSHP - when I went back to Orlando with Mum and Dad last year we went - it was fantastic. Hallowishes takes your breath away! You will be able to tell DH that LOADS of people dress up. We only decided to go last minute *** as you know I didn't even know I was going on holiday with then until 2 weeks before as I only had 3 weeks between trips. Me and Mum worse halloween headbands but loads of people were in costume - it was brilliant.

I can't wait to read more,

Sara xxxx

I love your March newsletter! I learned something reading it - I didn't know that SE could fit inside the Seas! Yay for APs! :woohoo:

Thanks Courtney! hehe.. glad you learnt a little Disney trivia :cutie: I'm really enjoying getting my WDW books out for the trivia and hidden Mickey parts of the newsletters!

Hi Jen! Thanks for reading and your lovely comments :goodvibes I'm really enjoying writing the newsletters, next month will be Hollywood Studios edition - already thinking about it!

I think the October hours are available for travel agents now so I'm checking WDW website every day for an update!

The Illuminations fireworks cruise is spectacular, best view I have ever seen the show from! I loved the Wishes one too, but think Illuminations was extra special as we did it as a surprise for DH's family on our trip in 2009.. and I invited a DIS friend and her husband - they were on their honeymoon and it's the first and only time (to date) I've met someone from the boards! :cutie: Hope you get to book one if you can.

Lol I can't help myself with planning spreadsheets! I use them all day at work so it's an easy way for me to organise our meals, park days etc.. I print out a copy and we leave it on the table in our resort room to glance at each day.

Barbie costume update coming soon.. I have bought everything for it now, can't decide if it looks enough like the character!

I think you should continue to use non-US words, as long as you put in parenthesis what it is for your US readers. It teaches me new words and I like them!

Yay for annual passes! How exciting!

Hi Lesha! Ok I will continue with the British 'translations' of words :cutie: .. so pleased to have the annual passes bought -it'll make getting into Animal Kingdom on our first morning in August that bit quicker! :thumbsup2
Hope you and the baby bump are doing well :cutie:

YAY for annual passes!

I'm so jealous ;)

Thanks Chrissie! Funny it's the second time in my life to have a WDW AP.. looking forward to getting the Tables in Wonderland card too, it'll save us an incredible amount in August with a party of 8 :thumbsup2
I found out too that APs get 30% off golf at WDW, which will be great for the boys in August as they are planning two rounds of golf during our stay!

Yeah for AP's!! :banana::cool1:

Hi! It's funny how they do the tickets differently for the UK, the only options on there are usually 7, 14 or 21 day passes - equivalent to MyW hoppers with 'Water Parks and More' Options.. can't mix & match them like on the US website? :confused3 most Brits do go for 14 night trips to Florida though, so guess it makes sense.

I think I've read that if you are staying more than 10 days at WDW, it's cheaper to buy an AP than buy additional days?!

Hi Emma! Love the March newsletter and woohoo on getting your annual passes! :cool1:

Hi Tanz! Hope you're well :goodvibes thanks for the comments - I'm still waiting on a few of the family's answers for this month's quiz, but they've said they love getting one each month!

Hi Sara! Lovely to hear from you - really hope our dates overlap in October! :cutie:
I'm so excited for MNSSHP, I've loved the Christmas party and always heard that the Halloween one is better :goodvibes .. it will be interesting to see how much of new Fantasyland is open by October, I saw that Dumbo and the Barnstormer reopened this week :thumbsup2

I think I will be able to get DH to dress up, hopefully! We did see a lot of people heading to MK on our trip in October 2008 in full costume (including a large family all dressed as Flinstones characters! :cutie:) .. and something like Ken isn't too much of a costume really.. :rolleyes1 hehe
