Snacks, Sips & Spooks in October 2012... and a Mexican Fantasy cruise in June 2013!

Agh I lOVED The Muppets! It seems like it's been quite a while since I've seen that movie on the cruise...didn't know it took that long to start running in the UK.

The songs were so cute! Will definitely be buying this movie and adding it to my collection of other muppet movies :cool1:

I haven't seen the Muppets movie - I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'll have to rent it sometime. Yay for the ADRs going well! I can't wait to hear everything you got! :woohoo:

Very cool that the family participated in the quiz! Hopefully the participation continues!

I never did get out to see the movie! I think its actually been close to a year since I saw any movie in the theatre! We just don't get a chance very much!

Hope you both get to see the movie sometime :thumbsup2 I actually didn't watch The Muppets much growing up.. but I did watch Muppet Babies a lot! So with that, plus the attraction at WDW, my appreciation of the characters has grown :goodvibes
We don't go to the cinema very much either.. usually it's just for the latest Disney or Pixar movies! It costs us around £10 each ($15) for a ticket, so it can become quite an expensive 'date' if we get a meal out too, plus the car parking fees lol! :cutie:

Great updates! Planning for two hours around the kitchen table sounds amazing!

I am glad you liked The Muppets! We did too! I especially love that "Man or Muppet" is nominated for an Oscar. I think that is so awesome!

The person who did the music for the movie was on an HBO show a few years back, called "Flight of the Conchords" it was a half hour comedy show with funny songs sprinkled throughout. We loved it! Don't know if you can find it in England, but it was so funny... It is probably worth a try!

Hi! I hope that Jason Segel and Walter perform 'Man or a Muppet' at the Oscars next week! :goodvibes .. I just read an interview with the composer of the music last week on BBC - he said that he had to teach Chris Cooper (Tex Richman) to rap over a Skype call! :cutie: - I'll have a look if that programme is on any of our channels.

I'm glad you finally got to see The Muppets! I thought it was great!!

I really enjoyed it too - DH said it was ok, not the best Disney movie he's seen, but he did like spotting the celebrities.. oh and he's also humming 'man or a muppet' as much as I am this week!

We are going on the 4 night Dream in July. I am starting to get really nervous about it as I have never cruised before, but I am sure it will be fine once I feel more planned.

4 nights will be lovely :cloud9: - it was strange for me to have something 'unknown' to plan for our honeymoon last year due to the cruise .. especially as nearly everything for the WDW part of our vacation was booked 6 months before, whereas for the cruise I had to wait until we were just 75 days out! :upsidedow ... I was worried about queues to check in at the port, that the ship would feel to crowded etc... but every single part of the checking-in/boarding/sailing/disembarking was perfect - Disney seemed to have every step down to a tea! :wizard:

Hi Emma!

How are you doing? :cutie: I'm so jealous that you got to see The Muppets! I want to go and watch the movie - might do two for one Wednesday and go tomorrow hehe.

Hope the studying is going well and looking forward to finding out what ADRs you made :goodvibes

Tanzx :wizard:

Hi Tanz! I'm good thank you - studying is all going ok, I have some mock exams to submit next month but I think all of the learning is going fine so far :thumbsup2 - cannot wait for this all to be over and I never have to sit an exam again though!
Hope you get to the cinema tomorrow :goodvibes

I loved the Muppets! Everytime I'm home alone, I start singing 'Me Party.' :rotfl:

 loved that part.. Amy Adams has had some great roles for Disney... Princess Giselle and now Mary in the Muppets!

Agh I lOVED The Muppets! It seems like it's been quite a while since I've seen that movie on the cruise...didn't know it took that long to start running in the UK.

The songs were so cute! ..........

Hi Lesha! Yup we usually have to wait about 3 to 4 months for movies to come out over here  the gap has been decreasing in recent years, I think it's to stop piracy, but still annoying when I know a Disney movie like the Muppets is out but we can't see it for ages hehe. Sometimes they're released simultaneously, Pirates 4 was last year I think. I believe that the Muppets are going to feature on the Midship Detective game on the Disney Fantasy ship.. I'll have to try it out, we didn't get around to it on the Dream last year!

Hope everyone's having a good week - and Happy Pancake Day/Mardi Gras today!

I've made another clothing purchase for this year's Disney trips..

IMG_0787.jpg

It's a new range that Uniqlo are doing - I'll probably wear this more in October, as I find it too hot to wear tshirts in the summer in Orlando and usually wear thin strapped/strapless tops instead! :cutie:

Emma princess: x

Love that shirt! So adorable! You always seem to have the best Disney shirts. I wish I could find some like that around here.

Love the shirt! I have a Uniqulo on my block where I work-- I'll have to stop in and see what they have!

Cute t-shirt!

Thanks ladies :goodvibes .. I'm always on the look out for slightly different/subtle Disney clothing! It seems every now and then a store here gets the rights to use Disney characters on their I found Disney Couture on Amazon too :goodvibes

Big August trip update coming up!! :yay:

Emma princess: x

August Trip... Plans and Dining!

After the fun evening of planning our vacation with DH's family - I typed up our rough plan of theme park days, and worked out which days over the last two weeks I needed to book restaurants as the 180 day windows opened up! :surfweb:

And fortunately, I managed to book everything we'd talked about! I had no problems with the times either - the WDW dining website gave me the exact time I requested or was within 15 minutes of it :thumbsup2

So.. this is the 'plan' of the vacation so far!

IMG_0801-2.png

And here's our dining reservations at Disney :wizard: ...

Tusker House - 8am - breakfast

Tusker05FullViewMarketPlace.jpg

This will be our very first morning- I think it will be a great way to start the trip!
Animal Kingdom doesn't open until 9am, so we'll be among the first into the park, also getting up that early won't be a problem for us at all because we'll be jet-lagged by 5 hours.
I've been to TH once before for breakfast, but it was on a trip with my sister, so no one else in the group has been there before.

Sci Fi Dine In - 12.15pm - lunch

scifi15.jpg

We're visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios on third day of the vacation and will be there for rope drop, so this will be a nice break in the day to get a sitdown meal :thumbsup2
I've never ever been here before, so I'm looking forward to experiencing such a classic DHS restaurant!

Teppan Edo - 7.10pm - dinner

japandining10.jpg

We're having a pool/chill day after three days of theme parks, then going into Epcot in the evening for dinner here. This was one of the family's favourite meals from our trip in 2009 :goodvibes and we should have time afterwards to find a spot to watch Illuminations.

Sanaa - 6.40pm - dinner

Kidani%20Village%20053.jpg

This was possibly the best meal we had on our vacation in 2009 so everyone was keen to have another dinner here this year :goodvibes.

(Few photos from last time we ate there!)

The dining reservation system offered me 6.40pm ar 7.40pm.. I went for the earlier time as it'll give us more savannah viewing time before the sunsets!
I've read too that there are night-vision goggles available at Jambo House at AKL, so maybe after dinner we'll walk over there to check that out.

Les Chefs de France - 1pm - lunch

e_fran11.jpg

This will be a new dining experience for all of us :goodvibes I had thought about going here for our October trip, but DH's family all really liked the look of the menu here so we'll try it in August :thumbsup2 I'm hoping that Remy is still appearing at the restaurant too!

Akershus Royal Banqueting Hall - 6.55pm - dinner

Norway%2025.jpg

This was DN's request ('dinner with the princesses' :cutie:) so we'll be eating at the Norway pavilion on the last night of our vacation, hopefully followed by Illuminations :wizard:.
Again this is a new restaurant for all of us to try - during the planning meeting DH got the menu up on his iPad because a few of the family were concerned what Norwegian food might be! :upsidedow But we all agreed it looks like a really good menu - cold buffet to start, entree each and then family-style desserts.... plus princesses! I've not been to many face-character meals (only 1900 Park Fare) so I'm quite interested to see what it's like meeting Ariel, Belle, Jasmine etc! :cutie:

I'm waiting to book two rounds of golf for the men (Magnolia and Lake Buena Vista) but those can't be done until 90 days out..

IMG_2480.jpg
IMG_2476.jpg

also the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Parties aren't yet available for August dates, but I hope to book one of those for our third night :wizard:

............

....

And... also for August, I've booked a few surprises for DH's parents :wizard: .. as they are taking us on vacation, DH's sister, her fiance, DH & I wanted to do a few extra things to say thank you!

First of all ... on the day we have planned to spend in Epcot (lunch at Les Chefs de France) .. we've booked the Behind The Seeds Tour at the Land Pavilion :thumbsup2

3751208585_1e93c2d97b_z.jpg

It's one of the only tours that we could do (due to DN being 7) but also all of us like to grow vegetables in our gardens, so I think we'll find it pretty interesting! :cutie:
I read on Hope's TR (PhotographMom) about it and her son seemed to enjoy it, so I think it'll be great for all ages :thumbsup2 - we're on the first tour at 11.15am, so we'll have time to ride Soarin', Mission Space and some other Futureworld attractions before we need to check in at the Land Pavilion.

Also.. we've booked a special dinner at California Grill :goodvibes - DH and I had a great meal here on our honeymoon, and I think the menu is varied enough that we'll all find something we like (DH and I will definitely be having a sushi platter to share, it was delicious last time!)
None of the family have been to the Contemporary Resort before, and I think they'll love the views.

IMG_1034.jpg
IMG_1041.jpg

After dinner, we'll have to head to the Contemporary marina at 8pm because we have booked...

IMG_1720.jpg

IMG_1757.jpg

A speciality cruise!!

Wishes is scheduled for 9pm that night, so we'll have an hour of sailing around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon before getting into position in front of Magic Kingdom for the Fireworks :wizard:

Last time we went to WDW with the family, DH & I booked the Illuminations cruise as a surprise for everyone - and it was excellent, DMiL actually asked if we could do it again this time.. but I'll say it's fully booked :rolleyes1 hehe.

DH and I did the Wishes cruise on honeymoon and loved it... I'm excited to share the experience with the family this summer!

IMG_1756.jpg

I'm not sure how and when we'll reveal the surprises to them.. maybe give them invitations the night before our vacation (as we all be staying at DH's parents' house that night).

California Grill & the pontoon boat cruise were probably the things I was most worried about availability for, so I was pretty anxious when I went on the website on Thursday and saw this...

IMG_0798.jpg

The WDW reservation system was down for scheduled maintenance for hours! I must have refreshed the screen for about 10 hours :surfweb: lol.. then finally about 9.30pm UK time, the website went back online to book CG then phoned wdw-play to book the cruise - I was on hold for 30 minutes but didn't mind as they play great Disney parks music & I use a special phone number so it only costs £0.01 per minute to phone the USA :goodvibes

So now everything is pretty much sorted for August.. I can turn my attention to October! :cutie: ADR day is Easter Monday, April 10th.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend,

Emma princess: x

Sounds wonderful Emma!

I just love the spreadsheet and all the thought and effort you have put into it all. I cannot wait until we can also do our ADR's in April for our Oct trip.

The Wishes cruise and the Behind the Seeds tour sound fantastic, I have a feeling they are going to love them :goodvibes

I'm still sad that our vacations don't overlap ;)

Did you finally receive the second card I sent?

Those plans look great! It's awesome that you were able to get all the ADRs you wanted!

Just read through your whole PTR. How exciting to have all these trips to look forward to! Plans sound great so far. Looking forward to following along!

I'm so glad you were able to get all of the ADRs that you wanted! You've got some really great places in there! :thumbsup2 All of the plans sound wonderful! And how sweet of you to do so many special things for the group! :cloud9:

Thank you! I love planning for trips to Disney and it's great to be able to do it for DH's family this time, very different to when just the two of us go, lots more to think about! :goodvibes

Your plans sound great.

Great ressies!

Hi Chrissy! Yes I did get the second Christmas card.. sorry I should have let you know :goodvibes thank you so much.

Those plans look great! It's awesome that you were able to get all the ADRs you wanted!

Thanks Mel! I was a little worried about ADRs - staying off site and not having the 10 day booking window.. and booking for a party of 8 each time; but really had no problems! :goodvibes There are a few restaurants where it came up with a warning saying "may be sat on two tables" ... but we had that last time we went, I think only a few times it happened (Le Cellier, Rose & Crown and 50s Prime Time) but we were just on two tables next to each other rather than one big table.

Just read through your whole PTR. How exciting to have all these trips to look forward to! Plans sound great so far. Looking forward to following along!

Thanks for reading so far! I'm sooo pleased to have three future trips to plan! And to think on honeymoon I was worried I didn't know when we'd be back :cutie:

I'm so glad you were able to get all of the ADRs that you wanted! You've got some really great places in there! :thumbsup2 All of the plans sound wonderful! And how sweet of you to do so many special things for the group! :cloud9:

Hi Courtney, I' m so glad to have most of the ADRs and bookings done, makes the trip feel even more real! :goodvibes. So pleased that I got all the restaurants the family requested too, I can tell they are all getting excited for this vacation.

I need to design some pretty invitations now for the surprises.. I'm thinking of using white card with red polka dot ribbon ... or like a Cinderella/Royal ball style invite?! :cutie:

Emma princess: x

You chose some great ADRs! Just a word about Sci Fi though, stick to the sandwiches. If you venture off that, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. The atmosphere in there is great though.

You have some great surprises up your sleeve! :thumbsup2

That shirt is adorable!! I checked out their site and their Disney designs are so cute. Bummer that they don't sell online in the US! I did find a cute shirt at Macy's the other day that I need to post. I have randomly found cute Disney shirts there before. DH said our wardrobes are slowly being taken over by Disney shirts!!

I'm glad you were able to get all the ADRs you wanted! We always enjoy the atmosphere at Sci-Fi but we usually stick to the burgers, which are pretty good. I have heard some not so good thing about some of their other entrees. DHS is sorely lacking in good food options!

Hey Emma!

Great ADRs - I loved Sanaa when I visited. It's an excellent choice as is Chefs de France. Hope DN enjoys Akershus and meeting all the princesses :cutie:

Love the surprises for you and DH as well :lovestruc

Tanz :)

Thanks for the tip Jenny! :goodvibes I've read really mixed reviews of the food at Sci Fi Dine In.. it seems to be somewhere people go for the atmosphere rather than food specifically. As it's lunchtime though, I'm guessing most of our party will get a burger or a sandwich .. I think we'll be sat in two cars too, as they seat 6 per car?

Hi! That's a shame about the shirts on the US website.. maybe they'll add the range soon, the online store here also has a Marvel comic range too :goodvibes ... hehe I think I am adding more and more Disney clothing to our wardrobes too, DH's golf polo shirts even have small classic Mickeys on them! :cutie:

Thanks for the advice on Sci Fi Dine In.. your last TR was one that really made me want to try it, I think DH will love that burger with the hot dog in it too?! One reason I've booked an ADR is that DHS just doesn't seem to have a stand out counter service meal, whereas at the other three parks we have lots of favourites for lunches :thumbsup2

Tanz :)

Hi Tanz! Thanks for the comments :goodvibes I'm excited to go back to Sanaa again, excuse to visit the beautiful Kidani Village resort too! :cloud9: I only booked it in 2009 because when I was on the phone to Disney making ADRs, they had no availability at Mama Melrose's for the night we'd planned .. and I'd just heard about this new Indian/African restaurant opening at AKL... so made a quick decision to try it! So glad we did as it was a fantastic meal; I'm looking forward to trying out two new places in World Showcase too :cloud9:

Right, you'll be seated 2-2-2. Hopefully you can get cars near each other! Make sure you get a picture, it's a great photo op ;)
