Snacks at the Movie Theatre

Yep, we buy popcorn and drinks, and sometimes candy at the theatre. :)

(The overall price for tickets and food for our family of 4 is rediculous!!)

I bring my own candy and a bottle of diet coke(I'm addicted to diet coke :p) in my bag..and I'm not one bit ashamed to say I do so. It's ridicilous to spend over ten dollars on candy, popcorn and a drink for one person. I usually stop at a convience store before the movie and spend like 3 dollars on candy and a drink. I buy a small popcorn at the theater. I find nothing wrong with doing that..I'm there to see a movie, not spend a small fortune on snacks...and power to those people who do the same!! :thumbsup2

We often go to the dollar movies. There, I buy some snaks so the place stays in business. At the HIGH priced movies, I take a bag of candy in and water bottles but we usually buy a large popcorn to share if it's between meals. If we've just eaten, sometimes we go with nothing but water.

My FIL owns a second run dollar theater. His snacks are cheap, cheap, cheap. I have no idea how he stays in business!

His popcorn is made the old fashioned way -- all greasy with coconut oil. Mmmmmm. I hated when the theaters started making healthy popcorn. Come on, if I want healthy popcorn, I can make it any old time in my microwave or air popper! Give me the good stuff!

AMC has their moviewatcher program (which is free to join) where you earn points on how often you go---the rewards end up being free food/drinks, up to earn free movie tickets. Plus (at least at our theater), if you belong to the program, you get a free small popcorn per ticket on Wed. nights. It's an odd night to go to a movie but the crowds are definitely smaller!

I don't need to eat while watching a movie but I do love that bad-for-you popcorn. popcorn::

We uausally get a large popcorn and a small drink for each child. I used to openly bring in an empty water bottle and fill it from their water fountain but now that they sell bottled water, I buy one of those for myself.

I have to admit I am a little shocked at how many admit to bringing in their own snacks. If you don't think it's wrong, why do you need to "sneak" it in with you? If you can't budget another $10 to $15.00 to go to the concession stand, you should go without food during the movie showing, or rent a dvd and eat whatever you want at home.

Depending upon how many people you take it can be far above $10-$15. I bring in my own candy and sometimes a bottle of water. If that makes me a bad person so be it. It is amazing how many perfect people are on the Dis. I think it is ridiculous to pay $3.25 for a bag of skittles that I can buy at the store for $1. If they would lower the price to a decent amount I would buy from them. I do buy the kids drinks and popcorn from the concession, so they still get plenty of money from me.

Love our dollar movie theater....Tuesdays it's 50 cents the rest of the time it's $1.50, so it averages out. The snacks are also bargain priced, so I don't mind buying a bottled water here every once in a while. $10 for the 4 of us to go in and a large popcorn(which we hardly ever have any left over) and large drink is a great way to watch a movie. popcorn::

I work in a movie theatre and love. I get free popcorn and pop, but I almost always buy candy. When my family comes, we all get food -- what fun is the movie without snacks??

We don't eat snacks at the movies. If we want something to eat, we eat before or after. I would love it if they had a "snack free" section. (don't flame me, I'm not serious just sort of!) I hate listening to everyone eat and fuss with their wrappers! It doesn't bug me much if people get their snacks organized prior to the movie, but invariably I'm stuck by someone who spends the first 15 minutes of the movie passing out snacks, jumping up to get straws and napkins, whisper arguing with their kids over who gets what....

I generally only go to movies after they've been out for a while so I don't have to sit right next to someone for this reason.

Maybe I need to reconsider my career choice--free popcorn? You are very lucky--I mean that in all sincerity. :teeth: I've been known to stop by the movie theatre JUST to buy popcorn. I love that they'll let me do that.

I've also considered working at Sonic so I can wear rollerskates to work. I'm very fickle in what benefits I'd like. Now if I could get a job where I could rollerskate while eating free movie theatre popcorn and reading any book I want in my downtime from skating and eating--THAT would be my perfect job.

:lmao:

At my local movie theatre, on Tuesday's it is $5.00 for a matinee and free popcorn for the kids.
Otherwise if we go, i will bring a snack for the kids.

When we go to the movies, each child gets a Kids Pack(popcorn, drink and fruit snacks), DH and I share whatever deal they have for a popcorn and 2 sodas-it's usually more popcorn than we'd ever eat, but cheaper than the small popcorn & 2 sodas, so we get it.

I used to always have Twizzlers(I've never even seen Red Vines here), considered them a necessity with popcorn..but after trying the Dale & Thomas peanut butter popcorn, now I buy Reese's Pieces to eat with my popcorn. Delish!

And yes I sneak in the candy, and no I don;t feel bad about it. ;)

The cheap shows are the only time I actually buy both a popcorn and a drink. There, it is a movie, drink, and popcorn for $5. Can't beat that.

I love free popcorn programs! At Regal Cinemas, you can earn free popcorn, sodas, and tickets! popcorn::

We do buy snacks at the movies. I have to have popcorn and junior mints. Kids have popcorn and various kinds of candy. I love an occasional frozen coke if they have them. The rest of my family drinks bottled water.

It is a great job. Don't forget, free movies too. During some "lean times" I used to go into work and have popcorn and pop for lunch. Some people say you get sick of it, but I could never get sick of popcorn! popcorn::

I don't usually have snacks at the movie. I just can't bring myself to pay the high prices. My little "secret" is that when the big blockbuster of the season comes out I will treat myself to soda and popcorn. This summer that will be PotC:DJL. I don't ever sneak snacks into the theater, but lest you think I am being "holier than thou", I do NOT silence my cell phone.

I'm with you! I could never get sick of it either. :teeth:

Well, we all have our little vices. :teeth: Do you mind if I ask why you don't? I leave mine on vibrate but that's because I have a teenager who has something she needs to discuss "urgently" if I go to the movies. Last time she called me to complain that The DaVinci Code was taking too long and she needed me to take her somewhere. :rotfl2: Dream on, woman, like I'm leaving the theatre NOW.

I do take it into the lobby to answer it, though.
