Okay, I am reading here to use your DDP credits first and pay out of pocket when they are gone. That being said, does it make sense for us to at least buy drinks OOP from the start? There are a ton of snacks I will want to use our credits for but we are going in June so I have to be practical about the drink thing too.

Here is what I do for drinks. Any counter service place will give you free water (and there are a bunch of water fountains also). I bring a water bottle for each of us and ask for the free water. Then, I bring the individual servings of kool aid for the kids and crystal light for me. I can rinse out the bottles during the day for second use and then, wash them out at night.

That is a great idea!! I'll have to remember that one! Thanks!

We have used the dining plan twice and both times we had a LOT of snack credits left at the end of the week. I had plans of using them for ice cream and other treats. But, we were always so full from all of the food we got from our meals on the dining plan (appetizers, desserts, etc.) So, go ahead and use the snack credits. If you run out, then pay OOP. Have a great trip!

Another thing, when you order a drink with your counter service meal, always order large drink. My DH and I then share one drink and pour the other one in our water bottle.

We are also big fans of the Crystal Light and Kool Aid mixers that you can put in water. Also any restaurant, table or counter will gladly give you a large glass of ice water -- take advantage of that.

I second this. We also had quite a few snack credits left at the end of our stay. We managed to use them up on Mickey Krispies to take home, but many others end up leaving credits. And the only thing that would upset me more than leaving credits would be leaving credits after having paid OOP for snacks, no matter how inexpensive.

We did the same thing with our CS and TS credits. Although the organizer in me really wanted to pay OOP for cheaper meals and save credits for more expensive ones, we just would have ended up struggling to use up even more credits than we did. There was PLENTY of food (and then some), and it's much easier on the brain to just use up credits until they're gone, then pay OOP. You're on vacation, after all--you don't want to have to think too hard!
