It's that time of year again, school sports. I always struggle to find good snack ideas for the away games for DS. He runs Cross Country and they often get out toward the end of the school day, maybe 1/2 hour early, ride the bus to their meet and home around 9:00PM. After the meet, they have an arrangement with the school cafeteria to provide a sandwich, fruit, cookie and drink that we pay for, but for the bus ride up, they need something light and healthy before they run. Any ideas?????

Veggie sticks, go-gurt (yogurt in a tube), those soft cheese w/crackers packs, string cheese, granola bars, cereal bars, a mix of dried cereal, power bars?

Trail mix might be a good choice--nutrient dense, tastes good, a little sugar but not too much, and they can eat as much or little as they want. And don't forget plenty of fluids!

My girls love pepperoni. I usually buy about 5 bags a week and split it between them in their lunchboxes. They are not big sandwich eaters. They also like the trailmix.

When I was in HS and ran track we'd eat celery stuffed with peanut butter and raisins (aka "ants on a log"), orange slices, bananas, and apples with peanut butter on the way there alond with lots and lots of water.
