Hi all

I am new in the DL forum.

We are planning DL for the end of september 2006, our first trip to California and we want to know which airport is the best, having in sight that we will be there for 10 days, rent a car, stay at DLH and spend 3-4 days at the park and the rest in Los Angeles area.

I can't wait for your suggestions.

Well, we would pick SNA over LAX any day if cost was not a factor.

SNA is a much smaller, more manageable airport. Many of the rental car co.'s are on site and it's probably only about 15 miles or so to Disneyland.

That said, we just used LAX last month for a Disney trip because it was ALOT cheaper than SNA for us.

We did have to take a shuttle to pick up our rental car, but it was there within 10 minutes and was waiting for us when we dropped the car off. Going through security was surprisingly quick and easy - especially since we flew out on a Sunday evening. It was probably about a 35 mile drive to Disneyland, but there was a car pool lane most of the way, so even coming in early evening on a weekday it was not a bad drive. (probably about 40 minutes)

One thing to keep in mind with LAX is the possibility of delays - it's notorious for that.

I would pick SNA over LAX everytime unless I had no other option. I hate LAX, love SNA.

I base my flight on price and connections. I can fly to LAX non-stop, SNA usually requires a stop in Vegas. It doesn't take much longer to get to Disneyland from LAX (maybe 20-30 minutes) and I'd rather have a direct flight. LAX is typically cheaper as well.

We have flown in to LAX and SNA and much prefer SNA! (except for the additional cost.) That being said, we are flying to San Diego this trip because it had better flight times and was the same price as LAX.

We flew into LAX back in June and to SNA this past weekend, and both were fine. You'll probably get a cheaper deal flying into LAX and if you're doing other stuff in the LA area, it'll be easier for you.

Check the price carefully. Last time at DL (July), SNA was nearly twice the price of LAX (and Ontario was also nearly twice as much)...LAX isn't that bad if you get an easy shuttle down to Anaheim. And BTW, this was on NWA coming from MSP (Twin Cities).

I go with price. If flying into SNA is only $100 more total for the four of us I pay it gladly. But lately it seems to be much more expensive. For example in June flying into LAX saved us over $400. I love SNA for the convenience but its not worth that much for my family! We have also gotten great deals flying into Ontario, I think your airfare price really depends upon which airport you are flying out of. My brother for example flies out of Chicago and gets the best deal into SNA so he is lucky on all counts. If you have flexibility on times, try to get in and out of LAX at an off time. Last December we arrived about 7:30 p.m. and had a quick, painless trip to the Disneyland Hotel. I would probably have been less happy if we had been driving through rush hour however! Also, LAX itself posed no problems with us, easy to manuever through and security was a breeze, easier than what we have experienced at SNA.
