I've heard SNA is a much saner airport. But are there better (more) shuttle options if we go with LAX?

I think you get pretty much the same at SNA and also cheaper, many people have said Uber has been costing around $20 from SNA and we are taking disneyland express from there

Better or more? I suspect there might be "more" but I doubt they are better. SNA being much closer to DL offers rental cars, Uber/Lyft, shuttle service and limo services. I know you could also get those at LAX but you'll likely find the price cheaper at SNA because of distance. :drive:

We flew into SNA in 2013 and didn't rent a car and we will be doing it again in June. We have and will be using a taxi to get us to the hotel. We really like SNA because it takes less time to get to Disneyland then if you were to fly into LAX (don't have to worry about LA traffic as much) and the airport is much smaller and easier to get around.

We flew into SNA and we took a cab in 2013; it cost $40- took about 14 minutes to get to PPH. This year we are taking Uber.

No. SNA is logistically easier and cheaper to get to DL. Only reason to choose LAX over SNA is if there is a SIGNIFICANT time or cost savings.

I say significant because an only two hour or $100 difference can easily be eaten up in getting to DL from LAX.

Shuttle options are essentially the same. Last time, DH had to fly in early for a conference so he flew into SNA and took a taxi to DLR. I came later with the kids and wanted more flexibility in flight times, which made it cheaper and better to fly to LAX. The kids and I took the Disneyland Express to DLR and met DH. Then on the way back we all took a taxi to SNA, which was fine except that I wasn't thrilled about the kids not being in car seats (I didn't bring them along as I lack additional arms to carry all the stuff for our solo trip to meet DH at DLR. The driver didn't have any we could borrow so we used seatbelts and hoped for the best).

This time we're all flying into LAX, again because there were more flight options and even the flights at more convenient times for us were cheaper than flying into SNA. The kids have a school field trip and a concert the night before we fly out, so a 6 am flight (which was pretty much all we could get to SNA) was a pretty horrible option. I'm quite happy to spend extra time on a bus to have kids who got a (mostly) full night's sleep before getting on an 11 am flight.

We like SNA for the proximity and less craziness. I've done shared shuttle in the past-- meh. Last time I was the last dropped off and it took a LONG time. We're doing Uber/Lyft this time. Much cheaper than a taxi.

We'd love to fly into SNA as it's closer but we are not able to get a non stop flight there so it's not worth it.

We have flown into LAX four times now and I have no idea what anyone talks about saying it's crazy. I had no problems with it at all - there is a lot of unnecessary hype in my opinion.

Thanks so much for all your input. We must be somewhere that flights don't make much difference - I don't have any more flights into LAX than I do SNA. So I can go with either. THANK YOU!

I was actually able to get a nonstop to SNA for cheaper than LAX flying southwest out of STL so I was really happy this is our first time flying so I wanted to try to make it as easy as possible and non stop into a smaller airport made it pretty easy!

I agree. I've flown into/out of LAX dozens of times and have never really had a problem. The main problem with LAX is the traffic. On the other hand I've been to Chicago O'hare almost as many times and I still get lost there! The Dallas airport is also extremely confusing.
