Someone told me that there is no smoking allowed on the cruises,Is this true ?

No, this is not true for DCL. Carnival cruise lines has a ship called the Paradise that is completey smoke free and that is the only one in the industry right now.

DCL does not allow smoking in the cabins or dining rooms or theatres. There are smoking sections in the clubs and you can smoke in designated areas up on deck and on your own verandahs.

I believe there is one called lounge that is smoke freee on Deck 3, the Promenade Lounge.

There are certain areas that you are allowed to smoke in. (although many people would prefer non smoking)
You may smoke on your veranda (please be courteous of your neighbors), the adult pool area, and the night clubs after a certain hour. Their may be more areas but as I have not smoked for over 11 years I don't know where they are.

We were on the Western a few weeks ago and I did not see much smoking at all on the cruise. People would come out on Deck 4 and smoke and that was the only deck I saw any smoking on. I wasn't up on 10 that much but when I was, I don't recall seing much smoking. There was an area behind Palo that I do remember seeing ashtrays. I just can't remember about 9 or the rest of 10.

Yes, there was quite a bit of smoking up on decks 9 and 10 on our cruise, but not enough that I avoided those decks. Seemed to be the worst on deck 4 around meal times.

And I am glad that smoking is restricted to the verandahs and outside decks. Also, there is no smoking near the Mickey Pool. I'm not sure if you smoke or not, but if you do, please be courteous. I do not stand right outside the deck doors and smoke, I move to the rail. Also, I do not walk around and smoke. I think it is dangerous to do this with so many little ones around. My daughter was once burned when she ran into someone's hand that had a cigarette in it. Thank God, she wasn't seriously hurt, it could have been a tragedy.
I think there is smoking in one or more of the bars after certain hours, however I have no experience with these, yet.

And of course, NEVER throw anything overboard...it could blow right back in and hurt someone or start a fire!!!

All the best,

Ursula

There is a poll (currently on page 11) concerning people's smoking policy preferences. Please take time to vote. Disney should know how people feel so that they can adjust their policies acordingly.
