Smoking Foster Parents

I was just listening to the TODAY show and they were discussing a state (maybe texas) where they are trying to pass legislation that would have foster children removed from homes where the foster parents smoke in the home. the foster parents don't have to quit smoking, they just have to take it outside or to the garage.
agree or disagree? me, i agree.. those kids don't have a choice in the matter and they should not be subjected to dangerous smoke.

I agree with the foster parents being allowed to smoke outside, etc. I would surely hesitate, however, from willy nilly pulling any child from a foster home in which he/she is doing well.

Don't agree with the legislation because it will be used subjectively.
Needs to be all or nothing in my book, if you are a smoker you cannot foster. That I would agree with.

I am a non-smoker, and really hate smoking, but I also would hesitate to pull a child from a home where they are loved and doing well if the foster parent is smoking outside.

Smoking is a legal activity, and it amazes me with all the restrictions that have been placed on it lately, that is remains legal. Wouldn't bother me a bit if they made it illegal, but of course the government needs all the revenue they generate from tobacco sales.

Disagree. Don't smoke, never have smoked. I can't believe that a stable foster care home where someone smokes is worse than being passed around the system, abused and neglected. There are not enough foster parents now, next they can move on and take the kids out of stable homes where they're not feed according to the governments ever changing food guidelines.
