tomerin said:would you still come to WDW if they banned smoking altogether and allowed smoking only outside the parks and in special designated areas of the resorts.
this is not intended to raise the blood pressure levels of the smokers i am just curious too see how many would stay away that is if anyone would stay away.
it seems that more and more places in public are becoming smoke-free zones.
I am a fairly light smoker, and am trying to cut back with the goal of quitting outright, but my DH has no intention of giving it up. We would absolutely not take any more family vacations to WDW if they entirely banned smoking. He'd be so cranky that I'd probably be trying to drown him in a fountain halfway through the first day. It would be justifiable homicide, trust me.
I'm not against non-smoking areas, I think it's fine, and I actually don't mind the smoking ban in NYC at all, it's rarely a problem to step outside anyway and is more courteous to the nonsmokers in restaurants and bars. Airports, I get a little kvetchy these days because very few major terminals have a smoking area that you don't have to re-clear security to use, but, that's just a hassle involved in travel if you need to get somewhere, I figure.
But a place like WDW is too huge to reasonably allow people to "go outside" to take a smoke break, and if they actually did something like that, they would not get any more of our vacation dollars. I don't mind finding a DSA if DH or I want to kick back and have a cig, but there's no way I could cost justify commuting a mile or so (think about how *big* the parks are!) four or five times a day to keep dearly beloved from having a nic fit on the teacup ride. If they did a full smoking ban, we'd be done with Disney completely.
Not meaning to start something here, but my family and I think it gives ALL smokers a bad image because of the fact that those few people who do it don't listen...
Sounds like they need something other than a vacation.
I mentioned this on a thread a while back, and got slammed for it. I don't think that people who have limited experience with smoking/ smokers realize the addiction part of smoking and the way that it affects moods. I agree that it is a choice to smoke, but the withdrawals are crazy. Can you imagine roughly 1/4 of the adults at WDW all having a nic fit at the same time?
