Smokejumpers Grill at CA

I've noticed that when the subject of food poisoning comes up, the consensus is that you can't get sick really fast. I know that you can indeed get sick super fast because we had a party of five at a restaurant at DLR which shall not be named and by the time we walked to our cars right after dinner we were all desperately ill. We wanted to watch the fireworks after dinner but instead hurried back to our hotel and were ill all night long.

Not saying that the cold burgers did it in this case, but, trust me, it isn't always a flu bug that just came on. Fast-acting food pathogens are real.

I kinda feel like you should name it. LOL! Now I'm gonna be wondering.

That totally blows. I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your trip!

No...DLR is my home park and I've eaten very happily and healthfully at this particular restaurant many, many times. I wouldn't want to "speak ill" of the place. Sometimes things just go wrong.

While most people blame food when they get ill, more often is it railings, seats, etc... that get you ill. Someone mentions hygienic issues at the food bar, but those same issues occur on the railings as you walk out of Soarin' as you head to Smokejumpers (just to use an example.) You use the hand rail, or move the chair, or the seatbelt on the ride (so many others) then you touch your face or touch your food. Disneyland restaurants pass their inspections (which are surprises) all the time. But people don't wash their hands or use sanitizers most of the time. I don't worry a lot about germs, but I am cautious before eating of sanitizing because I know how many people's germs I have come in contact with.

To the OP: please contact DLR (use the "contact us" link on the web page) to leave a detailed report about what happened. If it something that they can fix, then they need to address it. They can't fix what they don't know about. For anyone who believes they got sick from eating something at DLR, alert the restaurant and Guest Services. It may help improve things for other guests in the future.

We received a survey via email when we returned home and mentioned the food being cold twice and then I got sick. We had also mentioned the cold burger to the cast member at the restaurant but at the time, did not think to ask for a manager. ( They all looked like college kids working that night) Not an excuse, I know.. but just did not think about it.

You're 100% right, if Guest services is not aware of a problem, they can not address it.

Thanks for the reminder.

On our last full day in CA, we rode Soarin and then decided to have dinner at Smokejumpers grill. I ordered a kids burger and when we sat down at our table it was cold. Not just the bum but the burger too. So I brought it to a cast member and told them it was cold and asked for another.. They brought me another burger.. which was also cold.. So again, I asked for another and waited at the counter for it.. seeing it was hot and steamy when they handed it to me.. So I was a happy guest. After we ate, we decided to watch the Cars 3 preview at Bugs Land and we were not in our seat more than a few minutes when I knew I was going to be sick. I knudged my DH and said we had to go now and I bolted out the side door and ran to a bathroom. That ended our evening and after I had nothing left, we went back to the Grand Californian for the night. Has anyone had problems with the food on their trip?
we ate there last week too with no problems and stayed at the same resort! The only food issue I had was accidentally drinking out of a cup hat someone left on a picnic table... I thought it was the drink I asked DH to get me.... ewwww

DLR is my only park also. And honestly, I don't blame you. There is only one place I won't eat and there are many factors for it. But I don't like to speak ill. Sometimes crap happens.

And we should not forget the TV remote in our hotel room - one of the dirtiest things we will ever touch. When I am at DLR, I wash my hands before I leave my hotel room and always before I eat. And I am training myself to keep my hands away from my face. I would also add that many people have IBS in a mild form and do not know it. What one may think is food poisoning could be the IBS acting up. Just a thought.
