Going on our first ever cruise in just over a month,:bounce, 7day Magic April 27. I was checking out the navigator's posted on another website for some helpful hints and tips and I saw that there are a number of photo opportunities , kids atrium, formal nite, Captains reception etc., and was wondering just how many pictures do people buy. Also would like to know the cost of purchasing these pictures as well as the size. I figure first time cruisers will probably buy more but are ones that anyone recommends that we really should get? Thanks:wave:

We took our first Disney cruise in June. I have been on several cruises before and never get in line for photos, but did several on Disney. My DS (7 at cruise time) loved meeting all the characters and each night characters appear in the atrium before each dinner seating in addition to other times throughout the ship. We ended up buying one photo with each character he met, one family photo, and a couple of others. They will allow you to take your own photos with the characters and will even take the photo for you. I think we bought about 12-15 photos. If I remember right the smaller size is 9.95 and the big size is 19.95. I figure you never know if you will get back and I'm not a big souvenior person but I love photos.

I love pictures, too so I bought almost everyone they took. My husband had to put a stop on the not-so-good ones because I probably would have bought those, too! The price stated above is what I remember paying in Oct/2000 - sure hope they haven't gone up any. One way Disney gets you though is the smaller picture is a 6x8 - now who do you know that sells a 6x8 picture frame? well, nobody but Disney of course! So I just put mine in a 8x10 frame and got a little creative and made my own border.

Shutters does offer a package - - Any 5 for $44.95 (Saves $5), 10 for $84.95 (Saves $15), or 15 for $119.95 (Saves $30). Those prices are for the 6x8 size. An 8x10 package is available, at a much higher price, of course. You could purchase a minimal package to make sure you get some really good shots, then have them shoot the rest with your own camera.

Buying pics at Shutters was one area where we definitely went over budget. In addition to the planned photo ops they wander around taking pictures at random times and places and we found several great pictures that we weren't even aware they were taking. Also, got some great pics of the kids while they were at the club.

We've been on two Wonder cruises and overspent on pics both times but got some really good shots.

Have a great trip.

DS each got one picture taken on the cruise and we bought them both. They came out great! I wish the photographers took more, but my oldest DS was not to "into" the picture thing at that stage.
