JD, BJ, Hey you... Which one is it? The world will never know.
I may have taken all the caffeine, but it works for me. I get HUGE headaches if I don't have some caffeine each day. I go through withdrawls really bad when I don't have any.
I hear you DJ, I am the same way, I just need it in the morning though, and I need it in the form of coffee.
Apparently you can say it, but you don't really mean it.
Hope all is well.
You know, there was a time when I sometimes used to feel guilty about going to Disney so much.
Then I met Jaime.
I don't anymore. If anything, I feel like I'm still a newbie. Hi Jaime, all is well.
Okay I'm all caught up now, via a little backtrack. I somehow missed the elevator post and had to go back. I have to say
1) I like you Spaceship Earth ending much better than theirs.
and
2) Have you gotten that eye cheked yet??? you can go blind due to a detached retina you know.
carry on
Lynn, bless you for at least commenting on my ending for Spaceship, and as far as the eye, it would appear that I had a series of migraines, for days in a row, each one came with and aura and let me tell you, when I get an aura with a migraine, it rivals Illuminations, except no music.
Monica: we all thank you for the baby clothes.
Mony mony sent us a box of stuffage for our granddaughter, and included a couple of surprises for us.
Diane squeeled when she saw Breaking Dawn was in there, and there was also a small package for me int there.
A Detroit Red Wings jogging outfit for a 12 month old.
Monica, it's a little bit small for me right now, unless you have me mistaken for Benjamin Button and I will fit into it in about 53 years.
It has been so long that maybe I should do a refresher.
In summary;
It's Saturday, we have been in Florida for a week now, driven down, and froze our keisters off all week, this is the first warm day of the trip. We will check out tomorrow and head over to the Boardwalk Villas for 5 more nights and hopefully more warmth, and less pain.
Since I reinjured my foot last fall it has been really giving me a problem this trip. On top of that, Smidgy didn't want to be left out, and fell down and really screwed her hand up at AK a couple of days ago.
Between the cold and hoping that Diane's pain will subside soon, we have been trying to book 3 more nights anywhere on property, so far to no avail.
In the last chapter I told you all about the wonderful quality time spent in an elevator, and I may be scarred for life now, and have to spend every trip at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.
After I re-read it after posting, it ocurred to me it was just like being on the Tower of Terror, it had the computer controlled random drop generator going that I had no control over.
THe only thing missing was Rod Serling.
By the way, if you want to read about the first time I found out about migraines and auras it's in the first trip report, "If it's Tuesday, this must be Epcot".
Heading over to Magic Kingdom saturday night, I was in a good mood.
Mr. Grumpy Gills was finally MIA. Warmer temperatures have that effect on me plus I"m also excited about staying for the first time in the BWV.
And for 88 bucks a night!
ssshhhhhh !!
YEah, those kinds of savings will always get me excited.
Ok, arriving at MK on a saturday night, we now have ourselves a quandry.
It's about 5 pm, and since this is our first time here today, we have not one single fastpass stockpiled for nighttime use. This is what we normally do since we have stopped buying hopper passes and can't hop.
Oh we walk and we run and we do it for fun,
We'll skip to my Lou and stumble a lot too
But we don't hop.
Our usual routine is rope drop, pool time, cocktail time, and nightime park time. In the mornings we gather fastpasses to use later when the park is full at night. Works like a charm.
And there are a lot of things I prefer muchly to do at night.
A lot of them for "seeing" purposes, indoor dark rides and shows I can't see during the day because my eyes don't adjust for a long long time.
examples;
Haunted Mansion
Dinosaur
Peter Pan
Snow WHite
Space Mountain
Spaceship Earth
That's just a sampling, but all those it's a waste of time for me to do during the day. Then some others a just better at night, like BTMR, EE, and Test Track.
But there was not Rope drop today. Just pool time, elevator time, cocktail time, cocktail time, and cocktail time.
Even with the extended cocktail hour, that still didn't stop me.
Tonight I'm packing!
We have our good ol Sunny D's, plus I have a couple of little replacement rum bottles in my pocket.
Plus a couple of my "little friends" made the trip in the other pocket tonight.
Hey, I've been good with them this trip, but as the days are adding up, my foot is starting to look like if you took one of those rubber surgical gloves and blew it up. And going from all the really cold days to upper seventies played havoc on it too.
Yep, the "Incredible Amazing Weather Foot" was back.
And I couldn't turn it off.
Upon entering Diane handed me her Sunny D while she went through customs for her fanny pack, while I just walked right on past the security with enough ammo to put Mickey in a 30 day rehab.
Reminded me of the time we checked in Wilderness Lodge and the guy at the guardhouse asked me if I had any weapons.
I looked up at him and said "Whatdaya need?"
Yeah, that wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done either.
Inside we headed right to the time board at the end of Main St. As we stood there gathering info, we saw it wasn't going to be too much of a problem tonight, fastpasses were still available for all but Space Mountain and times weren't horrendous, everything a half hour or less.
As we stood there, a cast member came up to us.
Now, this doesn't happen often with me, I think the bald head and moustache scare them away, but Raphael asked if we needed any help.
"Nope, just checking the wait time for Dumbo."
Do you know how the last two years promotion in Disney has been "The year of a million dreams"? I think we had 7 trips during that time, and not ONCE did a "Dream Member" or anybody come up to us even once and offer us anything.
That's over now, this year it's "What do you want to celebrate"?
So of course ol' Raphael hands us each two blank fastpasses with his siggy on them, to use anywhere.
Two for each of us, problems solved.
Right away went and used one on Buzz, then wanted to ride the TTA, but it was down, this is a first for me, don't think I've ever seen the People Mover down before.
Ok, we'll do Laugh Floor, see who get's picked on, but it turned out to be one of the few times that neither one of us got singled out for anything, which was fine by me. Then we did something I would regret for the rest of the trip.
We hadn't done it in quite a while, since it's probably the lamest attraction Disney has to offer, right up there with Journey into Imagination.
What am I talking about?
Stitch's Escape, of course.
It's still stupid, it's still boring, and I still can't see in there.
You know how when you waste time in a movie theater that you didn't like you can't get out of there quickly enough? Well, that's what happened to me.
When that stupid harness that traps you in your seat finally lifted, I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Dumb, dumb dumb.
Dum, de dum dum.
I couldn't see the concrete steps they have in there, my foot came down right on the edge of one, and I surely would have gone down if I hadn't swung my right foot around as hard as I could for balance.
This is my bad foot.
Bad foot met bad concrete stair, with all my might.
As the pain overwhelmed me, all I could do was stand there and stare. I just couldn't believe I just did that.
And all for Stitch.
Whom I don't even like!
This was not like when I hurt Laurel and Hardy running into the railing at AK.
WHile that was painful, I knew it would go away.
This I knew was going to join me for the rest of the trip. It was actually my big toe that I hit, and I knew there was no point in looking at it, besides, I'd probably never get my shoe back on.
Diane saw what happened, again, but I said I'm ok, I just need a sitdown and a smoke right now so we headed over by Space Mountain to a smoking area there.
Remember what I said earlier about how we seldom hop? Well I half hopped on the way over there!
Diane got a pop from the Lunching Pad, and we replenished our Sunny D's sitting right there on the bench.
My little friends said hello and goodbye.
I know what you're thinking, "You know, if maybe you'd lay off some of the drinks, these things wouldn't happen", but honestly, I was far from inebriated, the time passage and walking around prevents it.
Besides, I'm a professional.
Diane led the way all the way to Haunted Mansion, as it was starting to get dark, with me limping along behind yelling, "Mr. Dillon, Mr. Dillon."
Then we used our last fastpass on BTMR. You know, in all the dozens of times I have ridden this, I have yet to see the cowboys playing poker in a building somewhere while the town floods.
Oh well.
Spectro was coming, and we grabbed a couple of good spots over by Westward Ho refreshments.
Ok, photo gallery coming up:
Yep, that was the photo gallery. Hey, when you are still on dial up with an 11 year old puter, that counts!
After Spectro, which we dearly love, with my foot we barely made it all the way down Main St. to where we usually watch Wishes in time for the show.
It just killed me after Wishes was over to have all these people passing me up on the way to the bus stop, and nothing I could do to stop them except try and trip them as they went by.
Off the bus we went right to the food court, we were both starving, then back in the room it was still time to pack up yet.
I started, but I think I fell asleep with the suitcase on my chest.
Heck with it, I'll finish tomorrow.
