Smidgy and the Grump, Freaky Friday, 11-06

Chelly, sorry to hear about your mother in law, hope she get's better soon. I'm not sure what UTI is but if it's a uterine infection I don't think I have to worry about that. I'm sorry, don't mean to make light of the situation, it's what I do when I don't know what to say, I make dumb jokes. You oughta here me at a wake. And yes, your right, I do have to make an appointment right soon, I'm just not sure which "specialist" to make the appointment with.

Ok, anybody else from that God forsaken state of Michigan? Come on, time to come out of the outhouse and admit it.
I remember driving up there once with my folks and taking a ferry to Mackinaw Island.

They hadn't even invented the automobile there yet!

But they did have great fudge, I remeber that.

UTI, Urinary Tract Infection
She's doing better, they let her out of the hospital this afternoon but she's not 100% yet. After a week of IV antibiotics, they prescribed another weeks worth and she has to go back for another CT scan in 2 weeks.

MMMMMM fudge :worship:

I wish I had another trip brewing, but no. It's a refridgerator swap I run, so us poppers can have a free mini fridge in our room and coffee pot and toaster.

I went to the ups store and got there at 6:40 and he closed the store early, the sign said it closed at 7, so when Tim gets home from Denver tomorrow, I'd head to the Post office. It's the next box of stuff for the grand daughter and something for you and something for Diane. Wink Wink.

Ok, this is what I like about a DJ post,,, he makes me work for it!

Ok, not a bad Idea. Cept for one thing. You are mixing up an inferior star wars product with a vastly SUPERIOR STAR TREK! Don't make me drive all the way over there!

Drive away. Just don't get in an ask-a-dent on your way over.

Mountain Dew poured.... Ice Cold..... ready to go. (Hey, that's the strongest drink I drink. It doesn't make me super )

Well, yes it does. Mountain Dew has the most caffeine in any soft drink, outside of Jolt Cola. Wonder if they still make that?

Yes, Jolt is still in production, you just have to look for it. Yes, Mountain Dew does have the most caffeine. Itttt rrrreaalllly dooooeeeesnsnnn''''tt afffffeeccccttttt meeeee ttttttttttooo bbbaddllly.

Nope. Great start. Then you went to the Brothers Grim side of the fairy tales...

Hey, I started out this report saying it was a fairy tale trip. Grimm.

Grimm, but I think your rendition is more scary than their version.

I saw you move. Whadda ya mean RAN????? The fastest I saw you move was when I wanted to take a pic of you and smig and you decided to rearrange your food and drink.

No comment, your honor.

You may now bow and kiss my .... ring.

I figured out what the problem was. You have a disease. No, really, you just won't admit it yet. The disease is.......

HandsFullNoFingeraAvailableForUpDownButtonofobia!! !!
to drink twice as much because of the other fobia you have.......

H2OSpiritPoorDrinkophobia. The fear of watered down drink.

If you want to drop that sentance off tomorrow, I can have it shortened by tuesday.

NOPE. That's biteMoreThanYouCanChew syndrome. I refuse to add yet another phobia to your .. I mean my list.

UNLESS you have HandsFullNoFingeraAvailableForUpDownButtonofobia!! !!

I think it would be cool to have a meet where we didn't have to hear yodlers and consistent yelling over the yodlers cause you CAN'T HEAR YOURSELF TALK!!!!

OMG ! Nebo has a trip report and I didn't know !!!!
How did I miss this ???? For three MONTHS!!!!
I'm blaming it on those two weeks in Key West back in March, aparently I killed more than two weeks worth of brain cells! :hippie:

I've just gotten up to the travel part, I live just north of Atlanta stop my here for a cocktail then drive through downtown after rush hour. Better yet spend the night and leave at 4am there won't be anyone on 75. Seriously I'm inviting you and Smidgy. Or as an alternative to staying with a stranger and possible stalker have you ever taken 285 around Atlanta?

Okay back to reading your TR, in a way I'm lucky I've got a whole lot to read without waiting for updates.

Ok, anybody else from that God forsaken state of Michigan? Come on, time to come out of the outhouse and admit it.

Since we're playing True Michigander Confessions here - I was born in Detroit, grew up in Livonia and Brighton, but moved to Maryland after college. My Dad lives in Canton - "Home of IKEA" - and my brother and his family live in Grand Blanc.

Summer and Fall in Michigan are awesome :thumbsup2 - Winter not so much. :(

I do prefer the milder Maryland climate, not to mention the ocean and mountains.:goodvibes

Not a Michiganer here but hubby's godparents live there and we have had the pleasure of tasting some Frankenmuth Fudge! Itsa nice place if you are into strange weather patterns : /

Actually, I think Mr. Bean would be an excellent choice to play you in a movie....just the funny parts!

Yes, that's a compliment....I love Mr. Bean!

We do too, I especially love the episode where he tries to stay awake in church.

I wish I had another trip brewing, but no. It's a refridgerator swap I run, so us poppers can have a free mini fridge in our room and coffee pot and toaster.

Ok, let me guess; bubble wrap for me, and a life insurance policy on me for Diane. Am I right? Monica, thanks for the package, we appreciate it. Will you THEN cash the check so I can balance the checkbook finally? :rotfl:

We rented a fridge once at the Pop, I'm not sure if the fridge swap is something we'd like to do, sounds like a lot of hassle to me. I forgot, what is it, ten bucks a night to rent one?

I think it would be cool to have a meet where we didn't have to hear yodlers and consistent yelling over the yodlers cause you CAN'T HEAR YOURSELF TALK!!!!

Dj, most of your post didn't transfer somehow, but great post. Yeah, the best meets we've had is when you end up staying at the same resort, surprising how much you run into each other then.

Hi Lynn, long time no see. Thanks for the offer. For years we used to take the alternate around Atlanta, but that was just as nerve wracking so now we've found it's better to just stay on 75, it helps having the "two people or more lane" now. By the way, for future reference, when is the worst morning and evening time for rush hour there? So far in Georgia we've stayed in Atlanta, on the way back when we stopped at Six Flags, stayed in Stockbridge twice, on the Macon bypass a couple times, in Perry a few times and once in Ashburn.

Maryland isn't big enough to have "mountains". Maybe, A mountain.

Not a Michiganer here but hubby's godparents live there and we have had the pleasure of tasting some Frankenmuth Fudge! Itsa nice place if you are into strange weather patterns : /

To this day I don't think I have ever had better fudge then from Mackinaw Island. I remeber salt water taffy was big up there then too.

Ok, I'm all caught up.

When's the next installment?

Hassel for who? I do all the work, the people just meet up and exchange the fridge. Usually.

Sometimes it's left with LuggageWeSometimesHaveNoClueWhereWePutTheFridgeButItsThere Assistance.

You just need to keep asking until you find the right person. You know, like Disney Travel. I think I got that philosophy from you.......heh.

The package was sent off on Tuesday. I went to the post office and I had Miss No personality to help me, it was more like I was asking her to actually work instead of pushing buttons. She was not happy with my box. I taped it up, I don't understand what her issues were, but it's on its way. I'm very curious to see if my box makes it to your place without harm. Cause she was so sure it wasn't gonna make it. I had a side bet going with the customer behind me.

I didn't split up the quote like I normally do. I got lazy and put the text in red in your response. It will not show up again if I put the text in your quote instead of after.

By the way, caffeine!!!!!:surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::surfweb: NNNOOOOPPPPEEE,,,,, NNNoooo efffffffeeccctttttttt ooonnn mmmmeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey JD,,,,(sp)?

According to my little on screen time clicker over by here on the middle coast, yuou just posted at the ripe early hour of nineteen minutes until two.

IN THE MORNING

Yep, I can see that the caffeine isn't having any effect on you.

nothining wrong with that, mind you.

Monica, I'll get to you next. Right now, too tired. BJ used up all the caffeine.

Ok, new installm ent hopefully tomorrow, monday at the latest. Honest Injun.
(can I say that?)

I wasn't expecting much until after the series anyways. That was a gimme the other night, by the way...............:)

JD, BJ, Hey you... Which one is it? The world will never know.

I may have taken all the caffeine, but it works for me. I get HUGE headaches if I don't have some caffeine each day. I go through withdrawls really bad when I don't have any.:headache:

I still haven't figured out how to quote just part of a post
Actually I'm not the best one for that information I live and work in the suburbs. I think rush hour starts about 8am (7:30?) and last till about 10.
Don't have a clue what time it starts in the afternoon, except on Friday it starts about 2:00 !!! I'd also bet that our regular traffic feels like rush hour to most of you. Even in the middle of the day it's still pretty heavy. When we have to fly out we usually book an early morning flight b/c we have to get through or around downtown, there's no one on 285 at 6 in the morning.
I am serious you CAN stay with us. I've invited Jaime and Rhonda before, they probably think I'm a stalker too
Lynn

Okay I'm all caught up now, via a little backtrack. I somehow missed the elevator post and had to go back. I have to say

1) I like you Spaceship Earth ending much better than theirs.
and
2) Have you gotten that eye cheked yet??? you can go blind due to a detached retina you know.

carry on

I hear you DJ, I am the same way, I just need it in the morning though, and I need it in the form of coffee.

Apparently you can say it, but you don't really mean it.

Hope all is well. :goodvibes

You know, there was a time when I sometimes used to feel guilty about going to Disney so much.

Then I met Jaime.

I don't anymore. If anything, I feel like I'm still a newbie. Hi Jaime, all is well.

Lynn, bless you for at least commenting on my ending for Spaceship, and as far as the eye, it would appear that I had a series of migraines, for days in a row, each one came with and aura and let me tell you, when I get an aura with a migraine, it rivals Illuminations, except no music.

Monica: we all thank you for the baby clothes.
Mony mony sent us a box of stuffage for our granddaughter, and included a couple of surprises for us.

Diane squeeled when she saw Breaking Dawn was in there, and there was also a small package for me int there.
A Detroit Red Wings jogging outfit for a 12 month old.

Monica, it's a little bit small for me right now, unless you have me mistaken for Benjamin Button and I will fit into it in about 53 years.

It has been so long that maybe I should do a refresher.
In summary;

It's Saturday, we have been in Florida for a week now, driven down, and froze our keisters off all week, this is the first warm day of the trip. We will check out tomorrow and head over to the Boardwalk Villas for 5 more nights and hopefully more warmth, and less pain.

Since I reinjured my foot last fall it has been really giving me a problem this trip. On top of that, Smidgy didn't want to be left out, and fell down and really screwed her hand up at AK a couple of days ago.

Between the cold and hoping that Diane's pain will subside soon, we have been trying to book 3 more nights anywhere on property, so far to no avail.

In the last chapter I told you all about the wonderful quality time spent in an elevator, and I may be scarred for life now, and have to spend every trip at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.

After I re-read it after posting, it ocurred to me it was just like being on the Tower of Terror, it had the computer controlled random drop generator going that I had no control over.

THe only thing missing was Rod Serling.

By the way, if you want to read about the first time I found out about migraines and auras it's in the first trip report, "If it's Tuesday, this must be Epcot".

Heading over to Magic Kingdom saturday night, I was in a good mood.
Mr. Grumpy Gills was finally MIA. Warmer temperatures have that effect on me plus I"m also excited about staying for the first time in the BWV.

And for 88 bucks a night!

ssshhhhhh !!

YEah, those kinds of savings will always get me excited.

Ok, arriving at MK on a saturday night, we now have ourselves a quandry.
It's about 5 pm, and since this is our first time here today, we have not one single fastpass stockpiled for nighttime use. This is what we normally do since we have stopped buying hopper passes and can't hop.

Oh we walk and we run and we do it for fun,
We'll skip to my Lou and stumble a lot too

But we don't hop.

Our usual routine is rope drop, pool time, cocktail time, and nightime park time. In the mornings we gather fastpasses to use later when the park is full at night. Works like a charm.

And there are a lot of things I prefer muchly to do at night.
A lot of them for "seeing" purposes, indoor dark rides and shows I can't see during the day because my eyes don't adjust for a long long time.

examples;
Haunted Mansion
Dinosaur
Peter Pan
Snow WHite
Space Mountain
Spaceship Earth

That's just a sampling, but all those it's a waste of time for me to do during the day. Then some others a just better at night, like BTMR, EE, and Test Track.

But there was not Rope drop today. Just pool time, elevator time, cocktail time, cocktail time, and cocktail time.

Even with the extended cocktail hour, that still didn't stop me.

Tonight I'm packing!

We have our good ol Sunny D's, plus I have a couple of little replacement rum bottles in my pocket.

Plus a couple of my "little friends" made the trip in the other pocket tonight.

Hey, I've been good with them this trip, but as the days are adding up, my foot is starting to look like if you took one of those rubber surgical gloves and blew it up. And going from all the really cold days to upper seventies played havoc on it too.

Yep, the "Incredible Amazing Weather Foot" was back.

And I couldn't turn it off.

Upon entering Diane handed me her Sunny D while she went through customs for her fanny pack, while I just walked right on past the security with enough ammo to put Mickey in a 30 day rehab.

Reminded me of the time we checked in Wilderness Lodge and the guy at the guardhouse asked me if I had any weapons.
I looked up at him and said "Whatdaya need?"

Yeah, that wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done either.

Inside we headed right to the time board at the end of Main St. As we stood there gathering info, we saw it wasn't going to be too much of a problem tonight, fastpasses were still available for all but Space Mountain and times weren't horrendous, everything a half hour or less.

As we stood there, a cast member came up to us.
Now, this doesn't happen often with me, I think the bald head and moustache scare them away, but Raphael asked if we needed any help.

"Nope, just checking the wait time for Dumbo."

Do you know how the last two years promotion in Disney has been "The year of a million dreams"? I think we had 7 trips during that time, and not ONCE did a "Dream Member" or anybody come up to us even once and offer us anything.

That's over now, this year it's "What do you want to celebrate"?

So of course ol' Raphael hands us each two blank fastpasses with his siggy on them, to use anywhere.

Two for each of us, problems solved.

Right away went and used one on Buzz, then wanted to ride the TTA, but it was down, this is a first for me, don't think I've ever seen the People Mover down before.

Ok, we'll do Laugh Floor, see who get's picked on, but it turned out to be one of the few times that neither one of us got singled out for anything, which was fine by me. Then we did something I would regret for the rest of the trip.

We hadn't done it in quite a while, since it's probably the lamest attraction Disney has to offer, right up there with Journey into Imagination.

What am I talking about?

Stitch's Escape, of course.

It's still stupid, it's still boring, and I still can't see in there.

You know how when you waste time in a movie theater that you didn't like you can't get out of there quickly enough? Well, that's what happened to me.

When that stupid harness that traps you in your seat finally lifted, I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Dumb, dumb dumb.

Dum, de dum dum.

I couldn't see the concrete steps they have in there, my foot came down right on the edge of one, and I surely would have gone down if I hadn't swung my right foot around as hard as I could for balance.

This is my bad foot.

Bad foot met bad concrete stair, with all my might.

As the pain overwhelmed me, all I could do was stand there and stare. I just couldn't believe I just did that.

And all for Stitch.

Whom I don't even like!

This was not like when I hurt Laurel and Hardy running into the railing at AK.
WHile that was painful, I knew it would go away.

This I knew was going to join me for the rest of the trip. It was actually my big toe that I hit, and I knew there was no point in looking at it, besides, I'd probably never get my shoe back on.

Diane saw what happened, again, but I said I'm ok, I just need a sitdown and a smoke right now so we headed over by Space Mountain to a smoking area there.

Remember what I said earlier about how we seldom hop? Well I half hopped on the way over there!

Diane got a pop from the Lunching Pad, and we replenished our Sunny D's sitting right there on the bench.
My little friends said hello and goodbye.

I know what you're thinking, "You know, if maybe you'd lay off some of the drinks, these things wouldn't happen", but honestly, I was far from inebriated, the time passage and walking around prevents it.

Besides, I'm a professional.

Diane led the way all the way to Haunted Mansion, as it was starting to get dark, with me limping along behind yelling, "Mr. Dillon, Mr. Dillon."

Then we used our last fastpass on BTMR. You know, in all the dozens of times I have ridden this, I have yet to see the cowboys playing poker in a building somewhere while the town floods.
Oh well.

Spectro was coming, and we grabbed a couple of good spots over by Westward Ho refreshments.

Ok, photo gallery coming up:

spectrofish.jpg

Yep, that was the photo gallery. Hey, when you are still on dial up with an 11 year old puter, that counts!

After Spectro, which we dearly love, with my foot we barely made it all the way down Main St. to where we usually watch Wishes in time for the show.

It just killed me after Wishes was over to have all these people passing me up on the way to the bus stop, and nothing I could do to stop them except try and trip them as they went by.

Off the bus we went right to the food court, we were both starving, then back in the room it was still time to pack up yet.

I started, but I think I fell asleep with the suitcase on my chest.
Heck with it, I'll finish tomorrow. :lmao:

I feel for ya, man...

No, really - the doctor says I sprained my ankle...

Wanna know how???

I sat on a couch for 364 days, then thought I could be out on a dance floor for 3 straight hours.

Turned out, I COULD.

But I'm paying for it... with a left foot the size of Cuba!

I'm glad the UPS store was closed when I got there on Friday, now I can add a second surprise to the box today.

monica wins the Philanthropist of the Year Award!!!!!:dance3: she sent us yet ANOTHER big box of clothes for our little granddaughter!!!! DIL and I had such fun going through them.. and little Kaylie is small for her age, so alsmost all of them will fit her now or in the future! thank you SO much!!!:cheer2:
PLUS!!! Mu surprise was... Breaking Dawn!!!:yay: stayed up way too late last night reading it, didn't know that Id' be subbing at the VFW tonight, tending bar. (and when i sign off, I am NOT picking up the book. I'll end up staying up way too late!

According to my little on screen time clicker over by here on the middle coast, yuou just posted at the ripe early hour of nineteen minutes until two.

IN THE MORNING :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

. Honest Injun.
(can I say that?)

DJ, nebo thinks anyone who keeps dif. hours than he is abnormal. don't you know that people who stay up late and sleep late in the morning are morally inferior than those who go to bed early and get up early?

(and, honey, you can say "honest Injun" as a person of Cherokee descent I can assure you that we are nothing but honest.)
