So, I walked into work today to hear a colleague of mine screaming. I find her in the faculty bathroom soaking wet. Why, you ask?

Her Blackberry fell in the toilet. :rotfl2::scared1: Every smartphone owner's nightmare. We put it in a bowl of rice and then she got the rice stuck in it. Any other ideas to make it work?

Throw it in the dryer and call it every few minutes. When you hear a ring, you're good to go! :thumbsup2

On second thought...don't do that.

You're not suppose to cook the rice!! :lmao:

The bowl of rice trick has worked for me in the past. Did she take the back off the phone and take the battery off before she put it in the rice? You need to leave it in the rice over night.

I gotta ask, if it was the just the BB that fell in the toilet, why was SHE soaking wet? :rolleyes1

I hate to say it, but that BB is probably "toast". Only pixie dust can help that sad little BB now. pixiedust:

This is exactly the reason they tried to sell me insurance for the phone when I got my Droid.

if she hasnt already .... dont turn teh phone off. I was by a phone guy NOT to turn teh phone off if that sort of thing ever happens

Well, I did the same thing with my iPhone 3G a few months ago. The rice worked, but I did not leave it in long enough - took it out 1 day later and it worked but the screen was clearly still wet, over the next 3 days, the screen cleared more each day, but on day 3 the home button shorted. Should have left it in the rice for several days!

I have also heard that a hair dryer on low (not too close to the phone) works.

So just how long are you supposed to leave these things in rice? :(

DD#1 brings her DSi to her friends house - to a POOL PARTY. Why I'm still not sure on.

We're getting ready to leave, and she's got her bag, standing next to the pool, and PLOP! In goes the DSi...it was in a case of sorts (meant for shocks, not water), and it seemed to come out in decent shape, but as soon as we got home in to the rice it went...I made sure no one turned it on.

She was soaking wet because she literally scooped it up and got water all over herself. :rotfl:
