I'm doing a remodel on my upstairs and enlarging the master bath as well as adding a small laundry. we're leaving the current laundry in the basement but want a small washer and dryer upstairs for convenience. I don't really like stackables but am considering them. Anyone seen anything else that would be a side by side? I've been to appliance stores but seen nothing but stackables.

It's been over 10 years ago, but I used to have a smaller (apartment sized) washer and dryer that were either side by side or optional stackable... I imagine they still make such a thing, might be hard to find.

Honestly, you are going to find small washers/dryers to be useless. You will end up using the ones upstairs more then the basement most likely. My MIL had stakables and the few times I used them they are actually really convenient. You can fold clothing right on top of the washer, everything is at eye level when you are taking the clothes out of the dryer-so easy to grab stuff that wrinkles, etc. I really liked using them. They are full sized too.

golfgal, what are you recommending? How can you fold clothing on top of the washer if they are stacked? I'm confused. thanks!

When the clothes are dry, you fold them using the top of the washer (on the bottom of the stacked pair) as your "table". Once you are done folding, you put the clothes away, then move the wet clothes to the dryer and start a new load in the washer, repeat. It sure saves on the ironing.

There is a gap between the washer and dryer so you can open the lid on the washer.

yeah, I see that in the pair you have pictured. The pairs I was seeing were front loaders and didn't have that shelf thingy. I like yours better for convenience. We are always leaving a wet load in the washer because it's ALLLL the WAAAAAY downstairs, lol!
