I'm almost ready to shoot DH, or myself . We're remodeling our house and he has become (well, he's always been) the most picky, fuss-budgety person ever. He's driving me crazy. I'm in charge of the kitchen. All I'm doing is painting. Everything. Walls, molding, cabinets, countertops. He's just standing over me telling me what I'm doing wrong, how "prep work" is everything, oh, you missed a spot, blah, blah, blah. Now, I'm no means messy, I just don't want to spend hour upon hour "getting ready" to paint. I just want to do it and move on. I finally told him I'm really excited about being able to contribute to the project and he should go away before I lose my temper. I'm perfectly capable of painting, and even though it will never meet his expectations, too bad. Well, now he's hiding in the garage. He wants me to think he's p.o.'d at me, but I know he's really just trying to figure out how he can get the paintbrush and redo my work. :teeth: How do you deal with perfectionists?

I dont need to (luckily) DF does likes things to be done right but so long as I did my best he is generaly happy, when we renovated our house by the time painting came around we were both too exhausted to care and practically threw the paint on the wall!

HOWEVER, our friends had been dating for 4 years and moved in togther last June and seperated this March as he is a perfectionist and well, she isnt & neither will back down

Married to one also-due to the perfectionist trait- everything takes an exceedingly loooooooooong time.

I feel your pain or should I say frustration :furious: The good news is that the work is beautifully done :cool1:

Think of how everything will look when it is done :cheer2:

My son is one... but I had lots of experience because my sister is one, too so I lived with that kind of personality for YEARS!!

I've become the queen of whatEVER when it comes to these types, they spend most of their days trying to make me CARE... waste of energy. I really rocked Michael's world by rearranging his room while he was at Six Flags yesterday.... :rotfl2:

Good luck! In my case I'M in charge so no matter WHAT he thinks, I get MY way!!!

I'm married to one! It can be incredibly irritating at times, but I try to let it roll off my back.

I usually just answer back with, "Yes perfect Paul" and he shuts his yap. ;)

Let them do all the work! :teeth: :teeth:

Lol! I AM the perfectionist in our house and I think RitaZ. really has the most ideal solution. :teeth:

I like this. I usually just say, "You make sure to tell me if I happen to do something right." Then he gets mad and goes away.

The work he does is always extraordinary and I really appreciate his efforts, I'm just not like that. I haven't had floors in my house for over a year. I just want it DONE! NOW!!!!

Have to agree with your DH, prep work is everything when it comes to painting.

 please dont shoot me!!
