Have two trips planned for later this year, reserved a pop up site. Have small 21' travel trailer, which is actually smaller than some pop ups after they are set up. Has anyone else used a small TT on a pop up site? We do not need full hook up, as I plan to use the camp's facilities.

I have seen it done last year at Halloween. Maybe they overbooked? :confused3 Not sure the reason, There where some small ones, like a Scamp and a larger TT. That was over in the 2000 loop, not sure about 1500.

I seen several TT on the tent/pop up loops on our last stay. There were even a couple smaller motorhomes too.

Wonder if they get the tent / pup price or have to pay extra for the size of there unit.

We booked the tent/pop-up even though we have a small travel trailer because we are camping with family who will camp in tents and did not want to pay the higher price for full hook up. I called FW (three seperate times to make sure I got a correct answer) and was told each time that our TT would fit into the tent/pop up with no problems. There would be no extra charge. They assured me the only down side would be no sewer hook up, which is fine with us. My concern was that we would not have any "extra" room. I will try to get loop 2000, from the research I have done, those seem larger. Thanks for all the help.

One tip is to have the size of your TT and tents noted on your reservation so you will be more likely to get a site that will be as big as you want.

Snow Medic,
We made friends with a nice man from WI who always stays in the 1500 loop with his smaller RV and doesn't pay any extra. Just the current rate for the pop-up/tent site.

You should have no problem getting the 2000 loop :) As it is the smaller loop, 1500, that is sometimes difficult to get because it is closer to pool and has 1/3 the sites.

So, my brother is trying to get a site for Christmas/New Years 2016, and the only thing available is tent/pop-up site. He has booked that, but will keep an eye out for a full-hookup or bigger site. His RV is a 34', he asked the CM and they said it was no issue but physically will he be able to utilize the space? He would have to back all the way into the sand and deal with only water and power, just don't know if he can actually fit.

BTW, we reserved our site about 3 months ago, and we have a premium site booked. Just members of my family want to join us now with their RV's. If this won't work they will have to book the KOA outside of Disney.

We stayed once at a site that didn't have a sewer (or water for that mater) hookups at the site. It was only a 3 day (weekend) stay. We failed to effectively estimate the capacity of our tanks, and our grey water tank was full and our water tank was empty by 1 1/2 days. Just make sure you plan accordingly and enjoy.

Problem may not be site size, but getting into the site may be. Some of the turns are tight backing in. I had a problem in the 1500 with a popup and my old conversion van when we had that set up back in 2011.

I agree with this. Therefore, Chky, they should request a site in loop 2000 which in a general sense has larger tent pads/sites than the ones in 1500. Also to peg's point, since the Fort does not have a dump station, what I have done in the past with my popup when checking out is to cruise around the Fort first, swing through a loop, and find an empty campsite temporarily to empty my Thetford in its sewer connection. Obviously mid-day is probably the best time for this when people are leaving and arriving and sites might be vacant for a few hours.

The nice thing about Pop-ups though is that they are (usually) fairly easy to lift off the hitch and push in to place. I remember MANY times as a kid helping my dad do just that. We'd go camping every year and that was usually the process. So much easier to push it into place then to try and back it in place with the car/truck/van/etc...

I still have many fond memories of camping in that old popup as a kid. (Sigh!)

It's surprising that the Fort doesn't have a dump station. I guess Ed's solution would work well.

Alternatively (for longer stays) you could get one of those portable tanks (I think they will fit over the ball of the hitch too) and then dump the RV into it, then drive it to a vacant site (if you can find one) and dump it there. I have actually thought of getting one of those portable tanks for just such occasions (although we try for a Premium or preferred).

Look at my photo above. I agree that they need to request loop 2000, they are bigger. Yes, they would have to back all the way onto the gravel pad, but should have room. Our TT is 21' . It fit with the truck parked in front and we had plenty of space behind the trail to put a tent.

We booked a tent pop up for this past December and when we checked in they moved us to a full hook up. We didn't request it, they said they were trying to keep the TTs out of the tent sites. So they may get lucky and get moved when they arrive.
