is this a sign of things to come??
Quick background DD 10 is HFA and in an inclusion class. She gets pulled out for tests and if she is having difficulty with somethings. She has friends
and to help her with her social skills I try and sign her up for whatever comes along that she is slightly interested. Well got a note from the music teacher saying that she was starting choir and that it would be a little different this year because she is going on maternity leave in November. Anyway signed DD up for choir which was to start today. We put it on the calendar and she has been very excited about it. We even talked about it this morning. I was planning on picking her up at the end of choir since well it's after school. So this afternoon I was working at the computer when my phone rings. It's the bus aid (she rides the special needs bus because of sound sensitivity) She is saying that they are at the corner waiting for me to come get DD. I said "she is suppose to be at choir" Bus aid said "No they said she wasn't signed up." So now I'm thinking I will have an upset child on my hands because someone goofed. I get to the corner and she wasn't upset. Good because mommy was plenty mad for the both of us. Not knowing the whole story I write an e mail to the music teacher and the classroom teacher saying that I didn't know what happened but Kaylee should have been in choir do I need to send in another permission slip. First got a e-mail from the classroom teacher saying it was all her fault she sent Kaylee with Mrs X (the special ed interventionist ) to the bus. Then got an e-mail from the music teacher saying she didn't get a permission slip but sent another one home. So I ask DD and she said that when she was getting on the bus she told them, the bus driver, aid and Mrs. X that she was to go to choir and Mrs X immediately said no your not. Now DD isn't one to lie and so I don't understand why she didn't quickly try and find out if she was. The music room is right next to the door that she goes out of to get on the bus. Or even give me a quick call. So they sent her home and I could have easily been gone!
So now my question is do I e-mail Mrs X and say please know that yes she is to go to choir and in the future if there is a question about if she is to stay for an after school activity please call me?
I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come. DD had a horrible 2nd grade which is still fresh in my mind 2 years later. Last year was excellent though
and hoping to repeat last year.
