My father in law recently passed away and my mother in law came to stay with us immediately after. During that time we used ALOT of minutes. My DH called T-Mobile to see if they would let us pay extra for the next plan which had more minutes included. They wouldn't let us do that, they credited us the extra minutes instead! We were very surprised, but then my Dh was having problems with his voice mail and called. While they were looking into that problem they noticed we were over again and again credited us the minutes we were over!

I didn't think they would do anything for us the first time, I just assumed any minutes over the base plan was always extra! They said they understand the circumstances and were doing what they could to help us during that time.

Now THAT is great customer service!!!

p.s. Sorry to hear about your FIL.

First, condolences to you and family on your father-in-law's passing. Hope your hubby and all are doing better.

And yes, great service from a company and should be 'plugged'. Thanks.

I'm sorry for your loss.:(

You're right though, that's incredible customer service from T Mobile. Makes me wonder if I picked the right company when we got new cell plans a month ago.

Thanks for the information! I am currently shopping around for a cell phone and T-Mobile is at the top of my list. It's nice to hear first hand experiences. :)

Good customer service, but my cell phone service is NOT up to par.

I had AT&T for 2 years, and I only switched service for the new phone (it would've cost me a fortune to stick with AT&T and get a new cellphone).

At home I noticed that my signal with AT&T was always stronger, but it wasn't horrible. My ex boyfriend got T-mobile the same day and couldn't even get service in his house, though he always did with AT&T.

So I thought it must be my location (even though I live in suburban NY with many cellphone towers around). I moved to Boston for college. While my service is almost always full, around 8:00 at night, sometimes 7, I try to make phone calls and every call I make is busy. The screen will say "network busy", not CALL busy, and I cannot receive incomming calls at this time as well.

Of course this happens at night when I'm trying to make plans with my friends to go out.

It isn't my phone, everyone around here with T-Mobile is having a problem. I'm just very dissapointed, I heard great things about them and I'm having nothing but problems with their service.

Just wanted to say that we have not tried to use the phones in New York but we have used them here in Florida, Texas, and New Jersey and have not had any problems yet. My friend has t-mobile in Chicago subs and is happy with her service also.

Evil Princess - sorry to hear the service in your area isn't as good.

Thanks, I'll just switch back to AT&T as soon as I can!

T-Mobiles customer service is good though. They are one of the few cell phone companies left that doesn't charge minutes if you call their customer support from your phone.

I have T-Mobile and have so far really liked their service. I only have a basic plan, but have not had any issues.

My husband had a similar experience like AMClvsMKY, but his carrier is Sprint. When my son had open heart surgery in July, we were out of town and used my husbands phone to relay info to family and friends. His surgery was at the end of the month and we thought we had a 500 minute plan, but we only had 300. We went way over the minutes and the bill was really high. We explained the situation and Sprint was really great about it and split the cost with us and also gave my husband access to free nights starting at 7:00 instead of 8:00. I thought that was really good customer service too!

I'm sorry to put a damper on this thread, but we have had AWFUL customer service with T-Mobile and when our contract is up in October, will be switching companies.

Recently DD was having trouble with her phone so I called T-Mobile and after some trouble-shooting determined that it was "defective" and needed to be replaced. They said they would have to ship her a new one that would take 5-7 business days. After some thought I realized she needed the phone sooner than that and they said that I could obtain a loaner at a nearby store. The "nearby" store was in the next town over (no biggie), however, all their loaners were "out", but one was due back that day and they would call yadayadayada. VERY long story short, they never called, I called again, still didn't have one, etc. 5-7 days goes by I call again. Oops sorry your particular phone is on "back order" WHAT!!!??????? Then send me one of equal or better value. Nope can't do that. WHAT???!!!! Told the rep I was unable to obtain a loaner--she locates one for me 30 miles away. Tell her that's unacceptable, speak to a mgr. get the same runaround. Inform them I will be spreading the word of their great customer service and send off an e-mail (which has still not received a response). Call again the next week (still no phone!) and was told there was a "mix-up" and my phone was never shipped. This rep was extremely helpful and says he will ship it overnight at no charge (which they should have done in the first place). Got it the next day-FINALLY.

That is only one of the stories of the unbelievably poor customer service we've rec'd since our signing on with them. Good luck!
