Small disappointments

I love the citrus part of Citrus swirls - not the vanilla part. For years I could get Citrus only - no vanilla ice cream. Now that's against the rule. Cast members will still do it for you if there isn't a manager around.

So my disappointment? I had to come back to the Citrus Swirl spot 3 times to get my illegal treat last trip.

:rotfl2:Too funny!! Guess you have wake up pretty early in the morning to outsmart the 'citrus police'.

Our first (and so far, only) time staying on-site was our most recent trip, in 2005. Now, you need to understand that Mrs. Homie and I are 80's kids to. the. bone. We were both teens at the height of the Reagan Era. We both played with Rubik's Cubes (Les could even solve them!), we both wore rad clothes, we listened to Huey Lewis and the News on our cassette tapes, etc. So when I booked at Pop, I specifically asked for the 80's section.

When we checked in, we were both *so* disappointed when the check-in CM told us our room was in the 90's section. Our disappointment didn't last long, though: we got what was probably one of the best rooms on the property, Ground flood, corner room, literally steps from the computer pool, and not at all far from our rental car either.

When your favorite ride is closed for your trip. :rolleyes1

That's the worst, but it can be avoided, for the most part. Check refurb schedules in advance when planning your trip. The schedule is listed at MousePlanet, and on Disney's site.

When I spend so much time on EE, wondering why there are so many hair elastics that I am distracted and miss a good picture pose

That time my son's grabby hands were too fast for me and we listened to all of Spaceship Earth in Mandarin.

LOL!!! Sorry it was probably not funny to you at the time but it really is funny!

Forgetting to write down your parking information at AK only to try to find your car in a 20 minute down pour! We found it and 5 minutes later it stopped raining. I had to go back to the hotel (off site) and use the hair dryer on all of our shoes because we only brought one pair. That's the MAIN thing we remember from our 2011 trip!!!

Actually, it's a ride that we've ridden enough that the laugh we all got out of it outweighed any downside of not hearing "After 30,000 years of time travel, here we are, a truly global community, poised to shape the future of this, our Spaceship Earth" yet another time.

And really....who knew Judi Dench spoke such good Chinese!? :-)

That's awesome! I didn't realize the map served any purpose other than the pictures and locations after the ride. Definitely going to try this! My son will get a huge kick out of it.

When your kids get old enough to ask, "what do they want with the redhead?"

OMG this one is too good.

It is before the map. When you first board it ask for language and then asks you where you are from.

Small disappointments for me are when you desperately need a pick me up so go to the Starbucks in that park and the line is longer than 7DMTs :(

Seeing a souvenir you think is cool and pass up but at the end of the trip decide you really really want it just to not remember which of the 1,000 shops you saw it in and it only seems to be in that one shop.

I was disappointed for the first time last trip. My children fought for the first time. I mean, some real doozies. I didn't have any kind of pep talk with them prior to because it is not something that normally happens aside from a tiff here and there. Needless to say with two years time, everyone is in a good place and I know this trip will be better than the last. A) Because they've matured and B) Because I've threatened their lives. PS - when I recently told them how it made me feel last time, they deeply cared and said I deserved to have an awesome time on these trips as well as them. I think I raised them right!

When you buy the root beer float you were craving and head over to let your 4 year old enjoy the last 15 minutes of park time in the Boneyard Playground only to be told no food or drinks allowed. So, I let him have his fun and drank a melted float.

I swear they set up snack stands right outside the no food attractions on purpose. Used to be a more frequent occurrence, but I'm learning where food is allowed and not allowed as time goes on.

Another is when I desperately want that giant pecan turtle to bring home from Disney but the line at the Confectionery is 40 people long and I'm far too exhausted after a 13 hour day to wait.

When you're the next one up to meet a character and they have to go so they can "feed the dinosaur" or whatever and you get to hang out waiting even longer for them to come back out.

When you come back from the parks to discover your room reeks of smoke (and you are non-smokers). Yes, they'll let you change rooms and yes, it's a hassle (only happened once thankfully)

Side note we ride Spaceship Earth so much sometimes we pick random languages just to change it up a bit :-)

Maybe small, maybe big:

Missing things. Mr Toad. When the Figment ride was awesome. The Kodak preshow. Trolls in Norway. The Hunchback show. Body Wars and the Making of Me and Cranium Command. Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams and the magic of animation. Horizons.

The shows in Epcot. Living statues. Showcase players.

My kids are now age 28 and 20. First visits age 3 and 8 months respectively.

Getting just to the load point on a signature ride and it goes down.

No animals out on the Safari Ride or in the Ak walkthroughs

What everything costs now compared to "back when"

That our upcoming trip, staying at the Vistana, now involves FP+, when we had the old system DOWN

That Disney Quest used to be so cool

The Adventurers Club and the Comedy club--brilliant improv

The amazing plush characters they used to have

Posts 1, 5, and 6 , for starters, May be lighthearted to you but they're issues disappointing enough to those posters to start or continue the thread.

Unnecessary car crashes due to impatience are disappointing to me.

See - that's funny. The first one was disappointing, but the fact you so effectively doubled down on your humorlessness is actually quite fulfilling.
