Looking for some advise in adding on a small re-sale..ie 50 pts.
Pros/Cons???
Soooo...whats the difference between a full contract (150 pts.) or a small add on??

Background:
In May I had a magical vacation...my 1st time home @ the BC.

I had spoken to some CM's @ the DVC booths looking to add on in my same UY (Sept).

We went through some scenerios and I learned that If I needed more pts. for a particular visit.....I would need to borrow from the
next years allotment and could not use my 2nd contract points first!!...  ....

Can anyone help explain this??

I actually came home fairly depressed and thought..why add on..

Thanks for any advice you may have!!

If you add on through Disney at the same resort that you originally purchased, you have effectively just increased the size of your points at that resort to 200 points and can use them all at the same time to make a reservation.

If you add on 50 points at a different resort than the one you own 150 points at, then you can only book your home resort with the 150 points or 50 points (depending on which home you are booking).

At the 7 month window, you can use both contract points.

So....are you talking two different home resorts here?

Sorry for my error in not explaining myself.

I have 200 pts., Sept UY @ the BC.

I have the opportunity to add on 50 pts., Sept UY @ the BC.

If you are adding from DIsney, then the CM was wrong. They will be part of your original contract, the same number with a .002 on the end.

If it's from a resale, I asked Disney about this and if it is the same UY then they prefer it become part of your original contract, it makes record keeping, billing etc easier for everyone.

I agree, with that scenario the CM was wrong. You would be able to use all 250 points at one time for any given reservation.

I have a resale add-on contract as well as my official Disney contracts and they all have the same contract number as BillPA said. You got some bad information from the CMs I would say. As long as your contracts have the same use year and are for the same resort, you'll be able to combine the points in order to make reservations.

I had spoken to some CM's @ the DVC booths looking to add on in my same UY (Sept).

Call your Guide. I think your problem is who you talked to. Don't take the word of one of the CM's at a DVC booth. Talk to your Guide and you will see that you will be able to add on the 50 points and it will be seemless.

I have done it and it's not a problem.

Even if the add on was NOT the same use year, you could make one reservation. I just did this.

I have points at BWV with Dec and June use years. I booked 4 nights with one contract and one night with the other. They linked them together for me and I only got one long reservation for 5 nights!!

You definately got some bad information.
