How many times have you had to go Physical Therapy?
if you don't mind sharing - what was it for?

This is for how many times the doctor wrote a script for you to go, not how many times you actually physically went. That would be to hard to remember.

I've had to go physical therapy twice now:upsidedow
Last year for my neck, and now for my knees.

Yesterday was my first appt for my knees, and the therapists taped my knees to keep my knee caps in place - boy does it feel weird:upsidedow . When I first stood up, I told the therapists that I felt like I had wobbly sealegs like Captain Jack Sparrow - she laughed :lmao:
The tape stays on until Friday.

Poll coming!!!

Twice...

Once after Knee surgery 3 days a week for 6 weeks

Once for Buldging Discs in my Spine 3 days a week for 8 weeks

As a physical therapist, who has also been a patient, I would like to thank you for helping me send my kids to college.

only once after my tib/fib break. They helped get me walking faster than if I had done it on my own

Hubby had to go because his shoulders kept popping easily (though extremely painfully) out of the socket. After the 4th time of him having to put it back in, I took him to the emergency room and demanded he get it fixed.

Been 2 or so years, and they haven't popped out again. VERY worth it. I think he went one day a week for a few weeks, with daily homework. Homework didn't look too bad to me (wrap an elastic band around his shoulder and then extend and retract :confused3 ), but it made him sweat!

The problem had gotten so bad that if he was pointing out something with his arm extended and you bumped his arm between his shoulder and his elbow, his arm would pop out of the socket!!! :scared1:

My grandmother also had physical therapy when she was recovering from abdominal surgery. About 3 times a week, don't know for how long. The PT was hilarious! He fussed at her for holding on to walls when she walked; he taught us (I observed to make sure he wasn't hurting her--she was 89!) that walking faster (when you're not dizzy) is actually better than walking slow and scared. He was right! Gram was soon up and moving, had recovered what strength she could (she was undergoing chemotherapy) and we were all more comfortable with her staying in the house during the day alone. Gram also felt better about being alive (as morbid as that sounds; she was facing a pretty grim future) because she was walking normally, able to get herself in and out of things, and was able to walk stairs. Her quality of life was vastly improved.

So, yeah, I agree that PT works.

I went about four or five years ago as an alternative to surgery to repair a torn tendon in my shoulder. The therapy was to strengthen the muscles in that area to relieve the stress on the tendon (also to learn how not to lift with that arm.) I was very skeptical, but it actually worked.

Only once for my back. I have continued to do what they taught me in PT to help keep it from going back to the way it was before though. I'd do it again if I ever had to :)

2 times once for knee injury way back when.

Then in 05 I cracked the ball in my shoulder and it took a long time to get back my range of motion.

My PT was the best, great gal very strong with a gentle touch .Looked forward to going she left when I had 2 sesions left so it wasn't to bad to have to stop going.

Twice -- first for back pain and then several years later for tendonitis/tennis elbow.

I have never had to go personally but as a former athletic trainer for a college, I have sent many people to physical therapy and have helped them with their rehab.
