Is your Christmas tree up?
or
Are your Hanukkah decorations up?
If not….will you be putting up your tree or Hanukkah decorations?
Are you a late starter or are you taking this year off for decorating?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..My trees have been up since before Thanksgiving.
To put up my 2 big trees and DD19’s tree in her bedroom, it takes me approx 12 hours, so I put them up before Thanksgiving when I have more time. The remainder of the decorations go up the day after Thanksgiving.

*Inspiration for today’s poll is how my mom always waits until 2 weeks before Christmas to put up her tree and take out decorations - she did this when I was a child too. I never understood this - it’s a lot of work for just a few weeks, but to each their own. Many think I’m weird for putting up my trees so early.

I put out very few Christmas deco and no tree because if the kitten - no sense in putting much out he just ruins it - I had a few items from my fall deco I’m hoping super glue can fix that kitten gets into everything no matter where it is !! He’s a pesky little devil !! Then there’s the dog - I’d be all day on him !! So very few deco up in my house - but I did hang the stockings over the fireplace - hoping they make to Christmas ❤️❤️🤣🤣🤣🤣

The tree and house are all decorated thanks mainly to our grandkids who came over Thanksgiving weekend and helped put it all up.

DD danced in Nutcracker with a touring company for over 10 years, starting the weekend before Thanksgiving, so we got in the habit of putting up the tree the weekend before Christmas- otherwise she wouldn't have been there to help. Tradition has stuck, and even though DD is now 29 and not dancing in Nut, we still don't usually put the tree up until just before Christmas. Taking it down is another story. Sometimes we have the tree up until the beginning of February!

This year is different. The tree is up, but totally undecorated. Haven't even brought the decorations up from the basement. We'll get there, and if we don't, I don't care much, as long as we get the lights on the tree. I'm all about the lights!

Household decorations and outdoor lights went up the weekend/week after Thanksgiving. Tree (with lights) was put together Saturday, and we finished decorating Monday night. I love looking at it!

Since we were home for Thanksgiving this year that is when the tree went up. All household decorations were done by the end of that weekend. Outdoor lights went up a few days later since we were getting all our leaves cleaned up I needed to wait until after that. It’s too much work to not have the tree/decorations up for at least a month or longer. Right after New Years I’m ready to take everything down.

Christmas decor is up. We’re getting our tree on Friday and it will be decorated over the weekend. Since we get a real tree we wait a bit. My kids birthday is a week after Thanksgiving and since they already have to share it (twins) I’ve always tried to carve out space for it so it does not get blurred into the holidays. That means we don’t put any Christmas stuff out until the first week of December.

None of our Christmas stuff is up yet and it won't be particularly soon that we start decorating either. DD21 is an RA so she can't leave campus until the dorms close for the break, and we don't cut our tree until she's home. This year, that is going to mean decorating just a couple days before Christmas because the university in their infinite wisdom decided to close the dorms on Sunday at 5 rather than the Saturday at noon that they used to use... so DD21 has an overnight flight home on the 18th and we can't cut our tree until DD14's Christmas break starts on the 22nd.

We usually put our tree up a week before Christmas, but this year it is going up this coming weekend as we are hosting a holiday lunch the weekend before Christmas and I want to have that chore out of the way. Our big wreath will go up on the roof this evening if we get to it.

Our tree went up the day after Christmas this year. While we do not celebrate Hanukkah, I do love the traditions and reverence of it. Not to mention the rugelach and babka from Reisman's bakery in Brooklyn.

I decorated the weekend after Thanksgiving except the two trees. DH put the living room one up Sunday while watching football and put lights on it. I like to decorate the tree as a family so waiting on the college kids. Middle DD is done tomorrow, but oldest DD still has a whole week past her sister. She is off campus and has a job so is thinking she’ll be home the 19th. We might just decorate without her. She has a handful of “special” ornaments that are hers that she wants on the tree, but said it’s okay if I do it or just save those for her to do.

Not at home for Christmas so no need for a tree. Will be in Williamsburg, VA for Christmas. Very Christmasy there, so again no need for my own tree.
Aww, you have to have a tree! We were in Williamsburg for Christmas one year when I was about 8 or 9, and I talked my parents into getting a tree for the hotel room. Fun memories of my poor dad dragging it up the stairs. But the hotel housekeepers just raved over it :) To me it's not Christmas without a tree, even if it's a small one.

We celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah, though we decorate WAY more Christmas. Everything is up for both holidays except a couple of tabletop trees for my bedroom and a few things we're adding to the Christmas village this year. But knowing us, we'll still be messing around with finishing touches until Christmas Eve.

When the kids were growing up, Santa put the tree up on Christmas Eve after the kids were in bed (mostly me, as Dad was at church singing!). The 12 days of Christmas start on Christmas, our tree stays up to the 7th day. It seems like, immediately in this area, Christmas decorations go up near Thanksgiving and are taken down the day after Christmas. Our area has a light display in early December for prizes, needless to say our outdoor is not decorated until after the contest!! I'm still decorating the tree alone! Usually host a sit down dinner for 25 or more on Christmas., but not since Covid visited. I have even purchased the tree alone, but since we're retired now, hubby will assist. I complain alot, because I want things to go well, but after Christmas , we escape to Florida and Disney, etc.

I've got a tree up, but only one ornament thus far. It's a mermaid on a lobster. You can't lose with that.

I don't celebrate Hanukkah, but Hanukkah Harry and the Holiday Armadillo are welcome.

This, exactly. Then the stuff will stay up until January 7, after the Epiphany.
Growing up my mother kept the decor up until the Epiphany. I did the same as a young adult, but gradually stopped doing so.

Now it really depends on when New Years Day falls. Maybe I’ll start taking stuff down on Monday January 2 since I’ll be off from work. Or maybe the following weekend, January 7 & 8.

No tree or other decorations at home. I did decorate my office space in a winter wonderland theme. They are having a contest. Top two get $100. I was lucky to have a bunch of snowmen and snowflake decorations already.
