I do not celebrate New Year’s Eve or Day. I have always found the reminder of time passing to be a little depressing and nothing to celebrate (I am not fond of my birthday for the same reason). The only concession I make is eating the traditional New Year’s dinner my mom used to make.

I usually go to bed early and sleep in the next day. This year I may do my grocery shopping on New Year’s Day, hoping all the people who partied the night before will be sleeping it off.

Mostly staying home. 🤷‍♀️

The holidays are crazy then i went NYC on the 28 and I’ll come home today after the concert, getting home around 3am. So by NYE I’m ready for a nap DH does not come to NYC with me (he isn’t into phish) so he sometimes wants to do something. This year we are going to bffs for a mid day lunch. My guess is we’ll be home around 6 to feed cats, I’ll stream the phish NYE show.

We will have our traditional NYE Junk Food Night -- taquitos, mini quiche, mini corn dogs, pot stickers, popcorn shrimp, pizza rolls, and whatever other items we find when we shop. The challenge is getting everything ready at the same time. We have two ovens and two air fryers this year, so it will be easier.

I will not be attending a NYE party because DH and I will be driving back to Philly from Florida after visiting with his parents for the holidays. We usually leave at 4:30am and drive until about 5pm. Then we will stop, eat a halfway decent dinner, and get a room for the night (we have a few places mapped out that we usually stop). Then we finish the last bit of the drive on New Year's day.

I voted "other" because I really don't know. One of the lodges usually has an open party, but DH hasn't decided whether he wants to go.

It was fun last year, but I'm also a natural early bird, so I will be just as happy staying home and going to bed at 9:00.

I haven't done anything for NYE for a few years now. Going out near here is overrated and expensive, and house parties don't happen anymore as all my friends have young kids. So I spend NYE in my pjs, eating junk food, drinking prosecco and watching films. I'm normally asleep and in bed well before midnight too.

Unless they were a Saturday or Sunday, New Years Eve and Day were normal work days for my wife and I.
This will be our 5th New Years of retirement. My wife and I can't recall anyone we know ever having a New Years gathering, that is more a bar and restaurant thing. The city New Year's fireworks show is back for the first time in five years. Covid canceled a couple of years. But it is really odd this year, with changes made necessary due to things that happened at previous New Years celebrations before covid.. Shootings and homicides. To the point where they could not get the required insurance to hold the event for a couple of years. It is odd in that the only way they could get insurance was to set off the fireworks at 9 pm, and to have police clear everybody out by 10 pm! They are holding this in Old Sacramento, a historic district but not sure how this impacts bars and restaurants in the area which would normally be open until 2 am any other night.

A quiet NYE & NYD is coming my way! Looking forward to it. We’re entertainment central for like 3 weeks between Tday and Christmas. Ready to just chill with my animals. 🥂☔🤩

I work until 6 pm tomorrow. The plan is for my family to pick me up and then we will go out to dinner and then home for an early night as I work the next day.

These days I despise going out and driving on the two biggest drinking & fireworks holidays of the year, NYE and 4th of July are both best enjoyed at home and quietly instead of out and in the path of trouble if I can manage it.

Never did anything beyond a champagne flute filled with sparkling cider and some appetizers, not even in my youth. This year I won't even be doing that. I'm old and don't want to stay up til midnight, although I know even if I go to bed I will be awakened by fireworks and gunshots at midnight anyway, along with a gaggle of terrified cats.

We haven't really done anything on NYE for a few years, usually DH are alone. The rest of the family usually has other plans or just stays home themselves and I work a lot of New Year's eves. I'm lucky to be off this year. A lot of times DH and I go over to the local Racetrack/casino (the horses leave early December so it's basically only a casino for now) and they usually have fireworks at midnight and that's usually fun if a bit cold most of the time. They do them out on the middle of the track and we watch from the Grandstand. They can't do them for 4th of July and Memorial Day, etc because it spooks the horses, so they save it all up for New Year's.

This is what I ended up doing. 😆 DS picked us up Chinese food, I made my mom's "shrimp stuff" and DH and I worked on a jigsaw puzzle of the last scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" (with the movie on in the background, of course).
