It’s too saucy and sweet to me. I make my own Sloppy Joes with tomato paste, chili powder, and diced onions. My Sloppy sauce also works well as a topping for hot dogs.

Interesting. I time I tried Manwich it was much more bitter than the sloppy joes we make at home, or my first exposure to sloppy joes, in the cafeteria in elementary school. Of course, my mom taught me that when cooking with tomatos, you always need to add a little sugar to cut the bitterness.

I used to make it often when my kids were young. I liked it somewhat. My mom made it a lot. But my kids weren't super into it so we kind of faded it out years ago. Around the time they started those tubs of microwave BBQ things. I'd get that instead. It didn't have the green peppers in it like manwich did, which my girls hated (the veges in it). Haven't had that BBQ in a long time either. Recently, I made my own sloppy Joe from scratch.

Sloppy Joes aren't my favorite thing so I rarely have them, but I do like them ok. Every time I pass the Manwich at the store I think I should make some SJs (with my own recipe) but then somehow I never do, LOL.

My mom and dad like Manwich and sloppy joes. Me not so much because I tried sloppy joes once and it wasn't appealing to me. But my aunt and cousin love Manwich and my aunt buys lots of Manwich sauce every time they grocery shop. I do remember the commercial from the 90's that said "I Want A Manwich Please" but whenever Manwich sauce is on sale my mother buys cans of it

It is a guilty pleasure for me. When I was younger, I would not touch sloppy joes (probably because of seeing what the school cafeteria served). Fast forward many years... I tried it and really ended up liking it. I voted love it. I have only had the "original" type, some of those variations sound like they would be good.
