My Mom made it occasionally because my Dad really liked it.

My aunt told a story to us once that she (a bad cook on the best of days) made Sloppy Joes for the family, and didn't realize you had to add your own ground beef. She just served them the Sloppy Joe sauce on buns.

I’ve only had the original and I like it okay, but it’s not something we eat often. A few times a year maybe. If I use the Manwich, I doctor it a bit and add chopped onions and peppers. Or sometimes just make my own sauce, with ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, brown sugar, etc.

This was not something we ever really had when I was a kid and sloppy joes aren't something I often eat today. I actually usually dislike food that is too messy or challenging to eat, and maybe it's just the name, but I just never really think of them.

Not a fan. Never eat it.
I don't buy canned meat products like that.
If I was to do a Sloppy Joe (which I don't), it would not come out of a can
The meat isn't in the can- you add freshly cooked ground beef. The stuff in the can is just the sauce.

OK- I answered this before reading the entire thread... ooops!
We had Manwich occasionally when I was a kid and we all liked it. I'd kind-of forgotten about it. I make sloppy joes using my sister-in-law's recipe, and they are awesomely delicious. Feeding a family of 5 (including an 8 year old who eats as much as an adult), making my own is a more-affordable option. I also didn't realize Manwich comes in a variety of flavors. Maybe when we are back to being a family of 2, I'll give the bourbon flavor a try; it is quicker and easier than making sloppy joes from scratch.

The last time we had Manwich was when the kids were little and there was only the original (LOL). I don't hate it, but it's not a go-to for me. I do make my own with Heinz chili sauce, though.

I have a sloppy joe recipe and have made it a few times, but for quick easy meals I use Manwich. Original and thick and chunky ones. Would definitely try the bourbon one but haven’t seen it here. Maybe Amazon…off to check😁

Edit: Yes, Amazon has it but I’m not paying $8.39 for ONE 16 ounce can😲. The original is $1.54 for a 15 ounce can.

We used to use Manwich years ago, but not anymore due to sodium. I make our own using a base of tomato paste with onions, ground turkey, green peppers, worcestershire, and some spices. :)

I’ve only tried the original. I have a can of the thick & chunky that is left over from the trip I took to Yosemite. We never used it. I should try it before it goes “bad.” Unfortunately since it’ll be just for me I’ll end up wasting 2/3 or more of the can.

I used to like it but I haven’t had any in quite a while - I did see that it was BOGO last week so I picked up a couple cans - I’ll probably make some this week or next…but looking at people’s recipes here - I may just make my own since 1 burger lasts me 2 meals worth of meat (I’m not a big carnivore 😂) and just donate the cans

My son and I LOVE them...my husband only likes them if they're not too saucy...which defeats the purpose in my humble opinion lol

Unfortunately since it’ll be just for me I’ll end up wasting 2/3 or more of the can.
Only use the amount you think you'll need, and put the rest in the freezer for another time (or two). That's what I do with canned tomato paste or jarred pizza sauce, when I know I won't use it all in a quick time frame.

Love Manwich, but haven't had it since I was a kid.

My mother tried, but she had to learn how to cook "on the job" because her mother never really taught her. So if there was a meal of convenience, we tried it--Hamburger Helper, Manwich, fish sticks, Kraft Mac & Cheese, etc.

Used it a few times years ago when our kiddos were small, but then decided I'd rather make my own from scratch with out preferred seasonings, just seldom eat it now. Make most things from scratch, not prepared.

I used to use it to make Sloppy Joes every once in awhile back when I ate meat. I liked them pretty well. I only ever used the original.
I've made Sloppy Lentil sandwiches a couple of times around the time I quit eating beef, but used a recipe for the sauce, not the manwich can. They were only so-so, no one else really wanted them, and it made too much, so those haven't been made in a long time.

It's been years since I've made sloppy joes - I think the last time, I just made them homemade, but I'm not opposed to Manwich as well.
