I absolutely am a legend. The first time I went to WDW was back in 1973, when it was only the MK. Our family was in Florida visiting relatives in Fort Myers after Christmas. My three sisters and I drove to WDW for a quick visit. It was a fun experience, just my sisters and me. And I have returned many times since then.

When FP initially came out we used it casually probably how it was intended although we did not utilize the "free time" to shop as Disney would have liked.
By 2009 we were "running" at RD a couple of use would take everyone's KTTW card and end up getting a FP for a terrible time and the rest of the group would start walking towards the first attraction we were going to wait for.
We hated that it came to this.

So when FP+ came out we found it was much more relaxing and enjoyable of an experience. Then we all just walked together to our RD attraction.

While I HATE paying for what's a LESSER version of FP+ I WILL pay for MP/SP LL to still feel a sense of relaxation and enjoyment.

BUT I also want to mention that back in the day of paper FP and before we did always take part in the Adventureland scavenger hunt in order to get 3 front of the line passes for the whole family. (And no they did not hide the idol in the same place so it was a challenge each year and we didn't know where it was based on playing the previous year)
We used them on the mountains especially because my mom is not a thrill ride person so at least she didn't have to wait very long for us to go on them.
I recall one time that we did this at Space Mountain and a group decided to hop the railing and follow us and we told them to go back but they wouldn't.
So when we got to a CM to hand in our pass we made sure to say those people were not part of our group and they were escorted out.

Legend here. Last used in 2012. Can't say that I miss them though. I liked the MDE system they switched to where you could make FP 60 days in advance of your arrival date and then use your Magic Band for entry on the ride. I was also very fond of it being free!!!

Been going since 1983 so yes, I remember the paper FPs. WDW only. We used them every once in awhile but we are more seat of the pants type people and didn't like being tied down to a specific time. I know almost every time we left a park we were handing out our paper FPs to a family coming in because we weren't going to use them. Yes, I think we rope dropped once for them at HS, it was like the running of the bulls so we never did it again (if I recall it was also pouring down rain). We were o.k. with them but really didn't use them or the electronic ones you could book in advance very much. If we could get one (either paper or electronic) within a half hour of the current time, we would do it but no longer out then that.

Not a legend as such, but Fastpass was great, though I think I liked FP+ more, like several earlier replies here. Running (literally) around the park was not for me, though better than waiting in a line for an hour, or skipping all together because of wait times. I have not been back since Genie became the system du jour. Though, with Genie being a HUGE cash cow, I don;t see that going away any time soon.

I'm a WDW legend. I had the paper Fastpass system down to a science! I liked FP+ as well.

I remember rope-dropping Epcot to get to the kiosks to speak to a live person to get a reservation at one of the restaurants. Those were the days.

I liked the simplicity of paper fast passes. I prefer vacations that are, relatively, more easy-going, not complicated or too competitive.

Yes, I am "Legend" aged as far as remembering paper fast passes at WDW. I'm sure we rope-dropped a few back in the day, and being able to "pixie dust" other families with them as you left was really fun. I clicked "other" for the last part of the question, though, because I missed them at first, but eventually came to like FP+ more.

Yes, I remember timing our passes, collecting my family’s cards and running around the park for tickets. I seem to recall an area in MK that had a whole line of kiosks. Not sure if they were always there, I just remember using them a few times. I don’t ,mind Genie in that you can make reservations via your phone. That said, I do not like having to use my phone so much and for various tasks while on vacation. Plus, now we pay- more and more- for what was once free. On top of admission.

I agree! I hate having to always be on my phone now. I miss the days when the phone only came out for a photo

Yes . Before, during, after the paper fast passes. I was the designated runner for Toy Story Midway Mania. The rush to those machines was comparable to rope dropping fop or rise. I was not a fan of the paper passes. Having to go to each ride was a huge PITA, and you could not hold multiples at first. Once , even rushing at rope drop , our return time for TSMM was after 4 that afternoon.
I did like handing off extras that we couldn’t use . But I much, much preferred when we could schedule them online . For free though!
