I’m interested to see the results of this poll. Most people I know do not like sausage in the casing, but then there’s my DH, who kinda likes it. When sausage goes on sale, the skinless sells out and the only thing left are the sausage in the casing. Here’s some info on this topic….

Now that you read the above, I’m curious today…..

Do you eat sausage?
If yes….do you like it skinless or with casing?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I am a sausage eater and I’m not a fan of sausage in casing :sad2: , but I will eat it if it’s served to me.

I'm not a big sausage eater but when I make it I always take off the casing when eating it.

I’ll eat it either way I’m not picky sometimes I get it with sometimes I get it without just depends on what kind of mood I’m in but I’ll eat it either way

I most often eat sausage in a casing. I get homemade sausage from our local butcher shop and it is always in a casing. The one exception is hot hogs. I prefer those to be caseless.

I once helped my grandmother make homemade Polish sausage when I was a pre-teen. I still remember the skins that she used. :)

We don't eat a lot of sausage. If we're doing breakfast for dinner we do.....that's skinless.
I use Smoked sausage in a lot of soups, when we have them, that is casing on.

Either way is fine. I don't think we have much, or any caseless at home. And I think most at hot dog joints, Portillo's, Vienna, etc are with case also.

I love "snappy" hot dogs! It was always a treat when my mom bought these when I was a kid!

I eat sausage either way, no preference. The only one I don't love is Trader Joe's Chardonnay Apple Chicken Sausage. The casing is pretty tough to bite thru, so I usually serve is sliced, sauteed in a pan with apples, cabbage, onion, caraway, and brown sugar. Yum... definitely a favorite fall dinner!

I don't care much for sausage, however I do help my husband make it. We do loose & w/ casings - the natural casings we leave on, the other casings get removed after smoking or whatever is happening to them.

I don't eat sausages much anymore, when I do they tend to be veggie/plant based ones (as they're more acceptable on my diet!). But when I do eat them, I'm not fussy over whether its skinless or not. I'm not entirely sure what proportion of sausages over here are skinless, it's not something I've come across very often.

Italian Sausage with Rabe and cavatelli any time for me... the best!

Casing, all the way. Like @leebee said, especially with hot dogs. They need to have that 'snap'. For my Western PA friends - it really needs to be Smith's, as well. :thumbsup2

I prefer mine with casing. If prepared correctly, it should have a nice snap to it. I'm the same way with hot dogs. My favorites are Sabrett (NYC dirty water dog). They taste a lot like Hebrew Nationals to me but have that gratifying snap of a proper sausage.

I like sausage, but rarely have it these days. It seems to me that most kinds I have had come in a casing, but I am not picky about it.

When I make Italian sausage/broccoli rabe/orecchiette, I sometimes cut it and sometimes take the casing off, for sausage/kale/white bean soup I take off the casing, for sausage and peppers the casing stays on of course. Most of our sausage eating is Italian.

I buy the one pound bulk sausage in the plastic casing. The only time I eat link sausage is at a restaurant and for the most part those have been casing free.

We always had it with casings when I was growing up because that is how my parents made it. When I buy it now, which isn't very often these days, I buy the skinless turkey varieties.
