I have a habit of carrying no cash, if we're going on a trip DW will insist that I keep $20 or so in my wallet.

I always have some cash on me. I keep it in order from most to least. I only use the debit card for online purchases because it has my aunt's name on it even though I'm also on the account.

Yes, I carry cash! I live in resort areas where people thrive on tips and cash is still king. And, yes I keep my bills in order. I learned how to count change and organize money at my first job at Disneyland! That habit has never left me.

I have cash right now because I won at Bunco a few weeks ago :cutie:. In the summer we go out to listen to music at outside places that the bar doesn't take cards, so I keep some in my wallet for drinks .

My life used to be all cash and then I learned the convenience of electronic transactions and I've never looked back. I only have cash now when I know I'll need it for a toll or something like that. I get rid of it as quick as I can as well.

I do not usually have much or any cash on me, but, if I do, it absolutely must all be in order from smallest to largest and oriented the same direction.

I like to have cash and like to pay with cash but don't always have it. And when I do, I'd like to have it in order with smallest bills on outside. But really it's all mixed up as I try to carry the smallest bag I can which usually means no wallet (pocket with built in slots for CC and license).

I prefer to pay for groceries and gasoline with cash, so I always have some cash in my wallet. Since it’s only me, it’s not like I have a huge grocery bill, and using cash helps me stick to my budget better (less risk of an impulse buy). I usually have the bills sorted by denomination high to low, but as to whether I see the ones first or the twenties first just depends on how it is placed in my wallet and which way I am holding the wallet when I open it (it’s one of those long wallets with a zipper all around with a cash slot on either side of a center coin pocket).

I always have some cash on me - not a lot - never more than $100. I travel a lot and like to use cash for tips and also like to thrift where paying with cash gives you a discount. I don’t carry a wallet, just stuff the cash in the little zipper pocket inside my purse - but I do organize the bills and fold over so that the ones are on the ‘outside’.

I always have some cash with me. When it gets to $10 or less I take $100 from an ATM. That $100 might last two or three months.

I usually only pay with cash at places like roadside farm markets or snack vendors at outdoor festivals. I leave cash for tips for my hair salon, hotels, valet parking, etc.

Cash MUST be organized from smallest denomination to largest, with all bills having the guys’ faces upright and facing forward. I cringe when the dispensed bills from an ATM are backwards or upside down.

Occasionally I’ll stuff change bills back in my wallet haphazardly, but I put them back in proper order as soon as I get back home.

I don't carry much cash, usually $20 tops. I keep it broken down into a $10, $5 and 5 - $1. I use if for tips so I know the person gets it because I don't trust most manager (even though I was one for in retail for awhile) for the person it is intended for to ever actually see it so I make sure that it is seen and I usually find them before I leave and hand it directly to them.

As far as sequence I pretty much just told you, but depending on which side someone is standing determines which one is seen first. I used to just randomly put them in, but in recent years I have had a situation were my hands do not always cooperate, so now I feel that keeping it in it's own group is easier for me to get out of my wallet.

I never carry change anymore. If get some for something I purchase as soon as I get home it gets put in a jar. My Debit card usage generates a 5% interest for whatever average balance I have in my checking account in any given month. So I do use it for small items as well as larger ones. Since the advent of "card tap" payment it is faster then messing with paper or coins.

I have always carried cash even though I had always charged everything (airline points).
Now I'm carrying more cash than ever due to SO MANY establishments are charging 3 (AND 4%!!!).
No way am I paying that unless desperate by running out of wallet $ so I carry cash (which gets annoying).

MUCH prefer charging and I'm not happy to see the fees PLUS so many restaurants and their stupid 'restaurant fee'. Wow. Just Wow.

PS: Sorry but my bills are totally random in wallet. Don't care. Money is money.

I always have cash. I pay for gas with cash, any time my card was breached it was getting gas. I always tip in cash, some restaurants I eat are cash only, I pay for my hair and nails with cash (I asked they prefer cash to not pay the credit card fees), I also use cash at farm stands, and farmer’s markets.

I always carry cash, at least enough for a tank of gas (about $60).
In order of denomination.
Organized from $1 to $20
I did have $650 in $100 and a $50 in my wallet this week as I had tree trimming done and the contractor was cash only.
Having irrigation work done next week, waiting on the bid, that contractor is cash only.
Had my house side replaced, dual pane windows put in, and the house painted two months ago, came to $50,000 cash or check only contractor. Did ask contractor why no other payments options. He said, because they haven't had to add others as their customers can all pay with cash or check.

If someone is doing work at your house, why would you need to keep the cash in your wallet?

We have probably $400-$500 in cash around the house at any given time (our cleaning people, for example, take cash), but since the OP was only talking cash in your wallet, I only considered money I carry along with me in the discussion.

I’m headed to the bank today, so I have cash on my mind. Not many people pay with cash today, but I’m not one of them. I do like some cash in my wallet for purchases under $10 and for tips at restaurants. Some people, like my DH, don’t care about the order his money is kept in his wallet - it’s all mixed together in no particular order (he does this when we play monopoly too - he says he doesn’t want anyone to tell quickly how much money he has :rolleyes2 ) Then there’s people like me who like their money in order in their wallet - I don’t like thumbing through my money to find what I’m looking for (I’m very meticulous with my Monopoly money too ::yes:: ). How about you? Are you like me, or my DH? Let’s talk about our cash today……

Do you keep cash in your wallet?
If yes…..Is your cash in dollar amount order?
If yes…..Does the cash go from most to least (100s - 1s) or least to most (1s - 100s)
(multiple choice)

For Me……As I mentioned above, I do keep cash in my wallet. I don’t keep lots of cash in my wallet, normally $100 or less - right now I got 20 bucks in there. My cash always goes from lease to most - I like my smallest bills to be in the front. I normally have a lot of singles, than more 5s, and then maybe one or two 10s or 20s. We don’t go out to eat very often, but when we do, I like to have small bills for tips. It’s time for me to add some more cash to my wallet - I don’t like there to be less than $20 in there.

I'm very OCD about my wallet and the cash it contains :P I always have the smaller bills facing out. Early in life an adjunct instructor, who was apparently trying to impress us, showed us his billfold with $100 bill(s) facing out. I remember joking at the time, that no matter how i organized my bills, there would be only $1 Bills in either direction. Now i keep the $1s out, so as not to let on how much I may have, and to have singles available for tips. (I always tip in cash).
I also show try to only the small denominations when playing Monopoly !
ETA - I also must have the faces all in the same direction, and same orientation :rotfl:
