As I’m packing for my upcoming trip on Saturday, I remember how in the past I’d always remember to pack my camera and enough film for the trip. It’s seems like a million years ago when we were using film in our cameras. There was no taking a picture and looking at it to see if it looks ok - we just snapped the picture and hoped for the best - LOL! Then we were introduced to the digital camera - that was really nice. And now we have our phones, which is so convenient. Please share with us today…..

What type of camera(s) do you use in 2024?
How often do you take pictures?
(multiple choice)

For Me…….I only use my phone camera in 2024. I used to use a film camera a lot, and spent a lot of money buying film and having pictures printed (I still have my one camera). I loved my digital camera - it went with me everywhere and I was always taking pictures (I still have a couple of these cameras). We also have a really nice digital camera with different lens (this camera is big and was expensive). We bought this for both of our girls to use for publications in high school. I have no idea how to use it, but I’d like to learn. One day when my DD20 is in town I need to have her teach me. To answer the question about how often I take pictures - it’s all the time - I drive my family crazy. Then I tell them that when I’m gone one day, they’ll be grateful for all my gazillion pictures that I take - LOL!

I only use my cellphone now. I find that I have a ton more pictures than I used to take with film, but they are just sitting on my phone or computer or cloud drive somewhere. I sort of miss the physical prints and creating photo albums (yes, I know I can still do that, but I don't). It was always sort of exciting to get your prints back and look through them.

I’ve only used my phone for photos for at least 10 years now. I’m not even sure if I still have my digital camera. And I take MANY more photos with my phone than I did with a camera.

I use my phone camera around town and home.
I prefer a camera (small, compact one) for trips where I take more pictures.
I take a lot on trips and then delete a lot :rotfl:
I take some at home and around....zoo, birthdays, Easter will be one.

I try to organize my phone pics into folders but it's a futile effort! 😂

I miss the days when you could get a physical picture from a film camera. But I wouldn't want to go back to a film only option. The cell phone camera is just so convenient. Most of the pictures are from vacations, but I will also take other random pictures. :)

Every so often I attempt to do the same but give up after 15 minutes. “I’ll finish some other time.” Yeah, right. In the meantime another 100 disorganized photos get on my phone.

I use my phone mainly vacation and I rarely take pictures I seldom take any at home
Before phones had cameras I had a digital camera and I took pictures all the time I have thousands of pictures I hardly ever take pictures now
I needed a picture a couple years ago for an incident and I didn’t have one not a current one in the authorities I was dealing just looked at me like I was from Mars they couldn’t understand why I didn’t have a picture and I said they’re wondering why I didn’t have a picture And yet I still haven’t changed that habit I still don’t take pictures
I’ve never in my life done a selfie and have no plans to do one anytime soon
I also have rarely ever taking pictures of my food The only time I have is maybe at DISNEY at a new restaurant or a special meal
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with any of the above I’m just saying I don’t do it
I just don’t know why??

Same here. I have a phone and occasionally take pics of our cats doing something cute, and the grandkids of course. But I don't like to take photos, pose for them, or spend much time looking at them. DW is the family photog and she creates excellent scrapbooks.

I use my cell phone and take pictures all the time (mostly of my dogs around home). I still pack my digital camera when I go on vacation, but I haven't actually used it in a couple years, since I got the S22 Ultra.

Now days I just use my phone but I do have two digital cameras. A small instant type one that can be put into an underwater case and a larger one that is great for close up or still shots. I take pictures a lot but I wouldn't say all the time. Usually if the dog or my grand daughter do something cute or if I'm at WDW or if we are in the RV. I usually take a few pictures of our RV site to document it in case we want to stay where we are again.

Phone camera. I do wish my family and I had taken more pictures overall. Growing up, way before camera phones, I was not a big picture taking fan because I was self conscious and almost always closed my eyes. I love that phone cameras offer the instant opportunity of a retake if needed. Dad and I do get pictures printed at CVS. Saving photos that truly bring back a positive memory mean a lot. God willing one day I would enjoy starting a scrapbook creating/help for people business. My main prayer is for each of you to simply cherish the blessing of time with those you love and who love you period, camera or not :)

Phone camera only and I don’t take many pictures. Most of the ones I do take are for work and are deleted quickly when I’m done with them. I’ve never been a picture-taker; grew up in a household that didn’t even own a camera and picture of us were only taken by others on special occasions. Yet still somehow my parents managed to accumulate boxes and boxes of pictures I now keep in storage (along with boxes and boxes of my own) because although no one will ever look at them, it just seems wrong to throw them away. :upsidedow

Phone camera and I take pics all the time. I used to use a DSLR with all different lenses, it was a hobby back then. I still have a box of "camera stuff" that I need to deal with.

Today I only use my phone's camera. They have progressed so much, they are so good. And as always said, the best cameras are the ones you have with you at that moment to take a picture. I take many pictures, many I've posted here on the dis over the years. So many pictures, ha. When I'm with the grandkids and I say their name, that look at me and smile. I got my camera/picture gene from my mom.

My last DSLR was a Canon Rebel, purchased maybe 2009 or so. I no longer use it.

I take pictures only with my iPhone. They’re not organized in any way and I currently have over 4,100 pictures on my phone. I take a lot of our dog to share with the kids at college and take a lot of my kids when they’re home. Occasionally, I’ll order prints from Shutterfly or Amazon Photo. I have a nice small digital camera, but I don’t think I’ve used it in the past 5 years.

I mostly use my phone these days, but I do take the DSLR to special events, especially at night. Even though the phone does okay at night, it still doesn’t do quite as well as the camera can with a low light lens. I do prefer the phone for video over the camera though.
