3 cats (ages 13 and 8) and 1 dog (age 4). We enjoy them but it's been a little bit of stress lately, especially the dog. I think when these are gone I would like more freedom to be away from home. By then I should have grandchildren I may want to be free to visit/help with
The cats belong to DD17 and they idolize her. It's going to be interesting when she goes off to college. The fluffy white cat barely interacts with anyone but DD.
When our kitty passed away 9 years ago, we knew we were close to retirement. Pets are both a commitment of time, in some cases 20 years, and money. So no more pets for us because we didn't want to be tied down in retirement.
And I ALWAYS felt bad leaving her even just for the weekend.
Just one right now (a 9 year old Lhasa Apso Maltese mix named Bentley) We lost our 13.5 year old mini schnauzer the end of January. We are adding a new member to the family the beginning of March (male Boston Terrier with no name yet)
