I bought one, but I think I got it too early. I think I have done a good job watering it but the flowers are already starting to turn brown. But I’m … not good with plants… so maybe it’s just me!

I usually buy 3. 2 for front porch and 1 in between garage doors.

Haven’t purchased yet, my summer plants are still going strong and the weather has been upper 80’s. It’s finally supposed to cool down this weekend. My guess they’ll make an appearance next week. 😉

I don't really like them but we have a couple of gardens and nothing is in bloom, so I usually buy pots of mums just so the place doesn't look so barren. This year I bought 5 huge pots of mums from Walmart, on clearance for $4 each. Definitely spruces up the place!

This is the time of year for fall mums.
So I ask….

Do you buy fall mums?
If yes…..How many have you bought this year?
(multiple choice)

*This is a part 1 poll - part 2 tomorrow will ask about mum details

For Me…..I love fall mums ❤️
This year I have bought 11.
6 came from the local grocery store, 2 came from a fundraiser and the remainder came from Home Depot.
Below is my front door and a barrel pot in my front yard ⬇️

Absolutely beautiful. I respect mums to much to buy them. They don’t deserve that!

Mums used to be a centerpiece for our fall plantings - and I enjoy them quite a bit especially for their pop of color as the season changes and our Bermuda grass goes dormant with the drop in night time temperature in the fall. Unfortunately, our front yard is large and the front door was far enough from the street on an incline that the plantings / pots weren’t really visible - and alternatively made it difficult to keep watered when placed nearer the street. Maybe, we’ll try them again in the back yard …

Stopped buying mums since they only bloom for about 2-3 weeks and then are dead. The ones most grocery stores sell around here are annuals so they never return for the next season. I can recall we had them around our house when growing up but those were perennials that returned each year. Were just smaller green bushes most of the year then would bloom in the fall. Generally, I prefer the colorful annuals like petunias/geraniums/begonias that bloom continuously for several months in the summer when you spend more time outdoors and they add some color to the landscaping.

I do buy them and fit pots here and there to add fall color.

One year I bought a few small, weak looking ones from WM and at the end of the season, just stuck them in the ground, barely even digging them in. That was like 10 years ago and they have come back every year since. Never expected that. I don't even know how they get water.

I usually buy a bunch of mums to decorate indoors for Halloween/fall/Thanksgiving…I only buy the wine shade as my house is done in navy/gold/wine - I’ll buy right before Halloween so that the blooms will last the whole month before I switch out for Christmas.

In Texas, when you talk about mums, these are mums. It’s a homecoming tradition.

That was my first thought too. DS16 took his girlfriend to Homecoming so he made her a mum with hands-off assistance from my mom and me. It wasn't a very big one but she liked it.
