Made my sweet potato casserole this morning (it's really easy) which is my requested contribution to Thanksgiving. Wrapped advent calendars for my mom and my sister. I don't do those every year, but I found a great coffee one for my mom (single serve cups in fun winter flavors) and was able to get the cheese one from Aldi for my sister in law and I know she'll get a kick out of it. Unfortunately my niece's Disney storybook advent calendar is lost somewhere is the post office so I need to try and straighten that out tomorrow.

Will head out around 12:30 for the hour and a half drive to my brother's house in NJ (we are in Philly).

Well Dh and I finally got Covid so our trip to family in NY obviously canceled. Luckily we feel ok and that we have food in so I’ll cook for us and my son (so far so good with no symptoms). Will have football on and probably movies. Other than that not much more we can do or want to do.

Our Thanksgiving will be on Saturday since my daughter is working today. We started doing Thanksgiving on Saturday 30 years ago because Thanksgiving was never a day off for my wife or I when we were working. Growing up my mom was a nurse at a hospital and Thanksgiving rarely was a day off for her either, so we have always had to make some adjustment on when to celebrate.
Today we will just mooch around, and as the weather is decent today, sunny heading for a high of 70, we will probably take our 65 Mustang out for a spin.

Headed to my sister’s house later for dinner. My dad and other sisters and all the kids will be there—16 total. Youngest DD had friends sleep over last night so we had a full house. They have left and I am starting to prep my dinner contributions—mashed potatoes and tofurkey.

I put Other for "Watch" the Parade, I have never been to one (although Philly where I grew up, has a great one that's actually been on longer than Macy's)

Also we go to family's house. (growing up it was usually our house people came to)

I'm a nurse too so I frequently have to work. This year I picked Thanksgiving as my Holiday off (we have to work 2 out of the 3) but I work doubles so I still have to work Nights tonight (11pm-7am)

My husband's family always did the meal at 12 or 1 so I can at least eat before I go to work. I have worked 3-11 almost the whole time we have been together (20 years married). But for some reason last year they decided they had to eat at 4. Then I had to work double shifts on both Christmas eve and Day so last year all the Holidays were basically shot for me.

At my parents house in NC. Headed to my sister's in a few for the big meal. Then Christmas this evening :) We don't travel at Christmas so we have Christgiving now.
My family calls it that too! LOL Ours is tomorrow. It's my DH's aunt and uncle who are traveling and they alternate Thanksgiving and Christmas so on the years they are here Thanksgiving we do Christmas too.

I answered other because we don’t have any specific non-eating traditions. Most years, we're home and having a large feast for the four of us. Last year, we went to FL to be with my family. This year, my husband is making a quick trip to my MILs with the kids while I stay home with a sinus headache, preparing for our meal at home later today. There have been years where I've run a 5k, I'm usually up early enough to watch the parade while everyone else sleeps in, we've had years where we've vacationed, years where we tried games, years where we shopped (sometimes out of fun- sometimes out of necessity), years where we watched a new movie or binged a show, years when we popped into other friends' celebrations (invited, of course), and years where we started decorating for Christmas...although I normally don't start until day after. We both have to work tomorrow as the NYSE is open for half a day, so we try not to go too crazy.

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! Sending peace and prayers to anyone facing struggles during the holidays.

Other - I am stuck in the rehab center after fracturing my femur from a recurrent cancer. They did have turkey for lunch. Dinner choices were salami or cheese sandwich. My dil and ds are bringing dinner a little late but I’ll take it.
I got to do some therapy today. I also got puppy therapy from ds and my grandpup too.

We hosted and I did most of the cooking yesterday. We watched the parade this morning since one of our local high school marching bands was in it. (They did great!) Dinner was about 12:30pm for seven of us. We are always so happy to visit with each other that we just sit, eat and talk. :) Everyone left about 3:30pm with leftovers for later. I packed up a couple of dinners worth of side dishes for the freezer and our favorites went in the fridge. DH and kids have left me alone upstairs to enjoy the TV in my pajamas with my feet up.

When the dishwasher finishes up its current load, I'll go empty it and fill it up for another round of pots and glass dishes. And I think I'll grab a little bowl of sweet potato casserole. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Went to MIL's house for lunch and spent the day. Then came home and friends came over to visit. (and worked on Christmas decorating for a while in between)

I am the only one working today, so getting up and around this morning is less than fun. :surfweb:

Thanksgiving is a hard holiday for me. I miss my dad a lot and don’t want the traditional fuss of the day.

Sooo, we got take out from Cracker Barrel, watched the parade, saw Wish in theaters, and spent the night at my mom’s (again - hard day all around).

It's a holiday. I make breakfast and clean the kitchen. I serve nosh-y things throughout the afternoon and clean the kitchen.I make T-giving dinner and clean the kitchen. I serve dessert and clean the kitchen.

I am not really a fan of the holidays.

I was too busy to answer yesterday.

Made dinner for 13 , half them DGKs, 18 and younger. After turkey, stuffing, potatoes, corn, green bean casserole , gravy , pancit (made by DIL) and rolls, plus cake, cookies, pie (bought) ice cream at 2 pm. DGS asked when are we having dinner at 6 pm. I didn't want to take everything out again, so I made a batch of grilled cheese sandwiches.

All 6 kids plus 2 parents slept over. One bedroom had a twin, set of twin bunkbed and an air mattress. The unlucky college kid home for weekend, got to spend quality time in that room with her siblings and cousins.

Knowing I'd need the big frying pans for breakfast I tried to pull out the drawer under oven. Jammed. Spent good 20 mins, open, close, open , jiggle, open, get two fingers in, jiggles, open four inches. Finally got it open. Guess pans shifted with the kids running about.

This morning made cheesie eggs, fried eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage links, toast and banana muffins( homemade stashed in the freezer) for 10.

We decided no turkey for Christmas. "Only" ham, lasagna, bag of chicken nuggets and a few sides. Too much craziness with having to wait for a turkey to get done. I don't mind serving cold food, but not undercooked food. I have my standards.

Tomorrow I sleep.
