I give candy to anyone on Halloween. I don't like seeing the teenagers in the "sexy" costumes though. I judge...but still give them candy. I don't mind babies trick or treating either. They are so cute in the costumes. When our kids were that small we would only trick or treat at the grandparents next door neighbors houses--the people who knew us & the kids and would get a kick out of seeing the little one in a costume.
I say let them have their fun! When I was a teenager, I took my little sister trick-or-treating and we had fun, even though didn't gather candy myself. When I lived where I used to give out candy, I didn't mind the teenagers.
Doesn't bother me either way, as long as everyone looks like they are having fun!
Last year I was too nervous to do it at all so I skipped it but this year I came across a photo or story somewhere of a compromise so am putting a card table out in front of my walkway and laying candy on it so I can say hello but have a contactless buffer, fingers crossed!
I still went TOT when I was a freshman in HS. Can’t remember if I did as a sophomore or not. We don’t get a lot of kids in my neighborhood but have candy for whoever comes no matter if teens and even adults.
Not many high school age kids come around for trick or treat, but I don’t mind if they do. I’ll give treats to anyone who comes to our house and wish them a happy Halloween. Many families go out together and we know a lot of our neighbors. I enjoy seeing them.
I think denying someone candy because you think they’re too young or too old or haven’t met your standards regarding their costume is really crappy. Jeez, lighten up!
There is a point, around 8th/9th grade, where the kids in our area tend to choose one of two Halloween paths. One group continues trick-or-treating through high school and sometimes even into college (at least the ones who live at home). The other group trades candy for parties with more "adult" treats. As a parent, I know which side I wanted my kids on and treat the older kids who come to the door on Halloween accordingly.
It depends on how they act. Polite and I have no issue. Rude is another situation but I think rude at any age is a problem for me. Also the young ones with parents need to have parents that have respect for peoples property. There is no reason to have kids run across lawns etc.
On another note I had 2 adults dressed in costume with an infant (no more than 6 months) come to the door and the mother says "It's for my daughter" Guess if you need candy that bad - lol
I like when parents bring their infants or toddlers to my door, especially if the adults are in costumes too. I know very well the treats are for the parents.
5:25 pm. One group of 3 kids, one set of parents (no costumes) with their 4 or 5 year old.
I'm somewhat ambivalent about it. Generally, I think as long as they behave themselves, and wear costumes I'm OK with it. But just a group of high schoolers, in everyday dress, obviously just out for the candy, I don't like.
Welp, trick or treat hours here are over in ten minutes. We had exactly *checks notes*...zero kids. Nobody. Good thing I like Hershey bars and Milk Duds.
My son (17) and the girl he is "talking to" (whatever kids call it these days lol) are going trick or treating tonight for a date. They're good kids and they will be in costume. There isn't a lot for teens to do around here and it's much better than some other things they could be getting into.
I don't get trick or treaters where I live but my parents do. The only thing that bugs them is when teens trick or treat and don't bother with any kind of costume.
Same here and even in more recent times, DS and his crowd wouldn't have dreamed of doing it past age 13 or so. Maybe it's a regional thing? Personally, I'm totally indifferent to whether or not anybody of any age tricks-or-treats but I do kind of wonder why teens would want to. What kid today is really that hard up for candy? Whatever - if the doorbell rings I'll toss a treat in the bag.

Three hours behind you in time but we are very unlikely to get any either; we never do. I keep something on hand for "just in case" but it's always a treat DS & DH will be happy to mow down if nobody claims it.
