Marathon Weekend 2027

Thank you for that! I actually got in for MW 2026 through an alert in July. Figured if I got locked out at registration I could always try my luck there again! Not ideal but there’s a chance, right? I would do a charity bib but I’m the absolute WORST at asking people for $$. Even with it being a good cause. For my kids fundraisers, I would give a large donation to the school, just to avoid asking people to donate.
Absolutely the same! In 2022 I got a spot on a fund raising team for the NYCM. It was for a cause effecting my own family and I had almost a full year to raise the needed funds. I did it and got to run the marathon, but I was on the struggle bus from the beginning to end.

This weeks W&D registration has definitely made me nervous. I’m only looking for the 10k & M so I went ahead and secured my 10k bib through SCF since the 10k will probably sell out before the Marathon. That should get me a little bit of breathing room for registration day. Although if I miss out on the Marathon I will be really sad.

SCF has very reasonable fundraising amounts so I chose the upfront payment option since I’m not big on asking people for donations. Big introvert here. And I think I would rather have that money going to a charity rather than joining CrD and them getting it. I know there are other benefits to CrD but it’s not the route for me right now.

Now I just have to get through the next month of stressing out about registration. It’s always been stressful but knowing we have a community here that rallied around everyone did help. I’ve gotten in before on an emailed link and I’ve been able to help others out as well. Knowing that isn’t an option anymore really takes the stress level up a few notches.

It’s Dopey or nothing for me. I’m taking the day off and I’ll be ready at my computer. I got Eras Tour tickets for my daughters and I once upon a time, so I know I can get it done, but the chatter here this week is making me a little nervous.
I won’t be signing up for Dopey, and still not sure what I will be signing up for, but I’m of a very similar mind. I’ll be there on registration day going for whatever races I’ve decided on; and, if I don’t get them (or don’t get all of them), so be it. I’m confident I’ll get what I intend though.

My sister’s Dopey registration is the only registration that’s essential and, unless they stop sending an early link to Perfect Dopey runners, that should already be done.

Good morning RunDisney All-Stars! Happy Belated Valentine's Day! As we wait for Marathon Weekend registration, the spring racing season is kicking off. For this week's Sundays Are For Disney (SAFD) question, what are your race plans for this spring? Are you indulging in RunDisney's spring season, hitting the local races, or passing on the season (from a race standpoint)?

SAFD: I completed my 18th marathon at Marathon Weekend this year, so my overarching goal this year is to get to 20. I haven't registered for anything yet, but my target right now is the Coast Guard Marathon in mid-April, with a fallback option of the New River Marathon in mid-May, if I don't feel quite ready. At some point, I'll pick a fall marathon to shoot for. I'm tentatively looking at the Emerald Isle Marathon or the Outer Banks Marathon, but it's too early to nail anything down.

SAFD: No plans for me except logging some miles and getting healthy. My legs, especially my knees, have been aching and it’s probably long past time to see a PT.

My focus for the remainder of 2026 is the Free Press Marathon and training for Dopey (hopefully).

SAFD: I'm doing all three races at Princess (celebrating 10 years of running and rD and my 50th rD race), and the SS 5K happens to overlap our spring DVC trip. I have no other races on the calendar until Chicago in October. My plan is to take a short break after PW, then do an 8-week speed building plan that my coach and I are working on. (SS will fall during that.) I'll take another couple weeks off and then start a long lead-up to Chicago. I'm guessing there may be some local races that line up as catered training runs.

SAFD: Doing the Princess half and Springtime 10 miler. I’m eying a 10k for time on April 11, but I’m not sure I have enough time to train for that in between the Disney races. And race season is pretty much over in Florida by April.

SAFD: Waiting to find out this week, if I was selected in the lottery for the Broad Street 10 miler! I also did register for the Hot Chocolate 10k in April, but I hadn't realized that it's the day before Easter. I'll have to see if I'm free to do it in that case. My good PoT times have expired so I need to really try in some race this spring.

SAFD: I’ve signed up for the Indianapolis Monumental Half next November. Nothing planned for spring or summer other than training and preparation for that race.

I generally don’t sign up for much outside of Disney as I like to save my entry fees to fund trips. I must reluctantly admit the plan hasn’t been working so well in the last few years. I was having a lot more success when I signed up for a couple races outside of Marathon Weekend. Doing the Indy Monumental Half is a step back in that direction.

SAFD: All races at Princess and Springtime, and that's it for spring. I'm thinking about a 5K in July at the St Paul Saints stadium because it comes with a baseball jersey and tickets to that night's game (which is exclusive to runners, and people doing a 0K (all the swag, none of the running))

SAFD: Spring plans are mainly trying to get a new POT for next year. Hurt my knee at DL two weeks ago so I’ve been resting since but will be doing both major Brooklyn races (NYCRuns, NYRR). Just aiming for another B spot for Dopey.

Springtime Surprise Challenge also happening.
