Mostly spreadable butter, whole butter for cooking and baking.
 
Butter only. I remember having margarine occasionally as a child at my grandparents but mom always used butter.
 
If I’m baking it is butter only but for everyday simple things I use margarine. I would say probably about 60% margarine 40% butter.
 
I remember my grandmother buying some type of gross margarine that was white. It came with a yellow color capsule that you were supposed to break open and add to the white junk and mix with your fingers to make it appear palatable.

I think that was Oleo. When we first got married, my husband got his grandma's recipe for his favorite cake (he always wants it for his birthday). It called for Oleo. I had to call my mother to ask what that even was! I just use butter.
 

Butter only. We buy salted and unsalted, and I make ghee for cooking, too.
 
Yes, transfats were banned about 3 years. I think most margarine makers took them out voluntarily before that. So yes, margarine is now healthier than butter.

We use margarine for toast, and on vegetables, unsalted butter for baking.
This is absolutely not true. If you have a source supporting this I would like to see it. Throw a tub of margarine in your truck and take it out ten years later and it’s the same product

Usually just use Olive Oil. However we will use butter now and then. Costco has the Kerrygold which is very good.
 
As a child I used to have to have the “bellybutton” in the center of a margarine tub, but now as an adult is only butter.
 
Grew up with margarine and used it for many years because it was cheaper (I think my taste buds were dulled as a child !) and then turns out it was unhealthy to boot !! Now, butter always....
 
We only use real butter. Most of the time I buy salted butter because that can be put in the butter dish and left out of the fridge so it's spreadable. Growing up my mom bought Parkay and I don't remember having butter. Not sure why or when we switched to only butter but I can't remember the last time I ate margarine.
 
Other: I once got a talking tub of Margarine. It didn't quite go like the commercial
