I am definitely not a sunbather (sunburn too easily -- managed to get sunburned on a beach 2 weeks ago in less than 4 hours, while sitting under an umbrella AND wearing SPF 60.)... but I love the sound of the waves, the feel of an ocean breeze, etc. Lake beaches are OK, but not the same as ocean ones. I also love a good rocky beach or mountain stream to explore.

I loved going to the beach as a kid, but have no real interest in it as an adult.
As a kid, we'd to go to Cape Cod every summer. Occasionally I'd go with friends to a pond in town.
Now if I go somewhere with a beach I'll take a walk on or near it for a bit, but I don't just hang out at the beach all day and I don't do more than dip my feet in. I don't go anywhere FOR a beach. An hour max and I'm done.

I love the beach! I prefer a beach on the ocean with nice waves to a beach on a lake or sound. Give me the sand, ocean breeze, waves, drink and a great trashy novel to read and I’m all set!

I live 10 minutes from an ocean beach and go frequently, year round. Mostly I just go for walks. It’s a peaceful spot; I enjoy the sound of the surf and the sea air. Rarely go in the water anymore, although sometimes I’ll dip my feet in. I’ve visited lots of other beaches along the east coast, plus a few in the Caribbean, CA, and HI. I love living close to the water and would miss it if I ever moved someplace inland.

I grew up a half mile away from the beach in my hometown so me and my friends lived on that beach all summer. I've been to many beaches on the east coast but the one in my hometown was and is my favorite. Don't get to the beach as often as I'd like anymore. I think having a pool has made me lazy about going.

Been to other beaches during vacations in both Hawaii and California.

I lived a block away from Lake Erie when I was a kid - we walked to the beach often. Also been in the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. Have not spent much time on ocean beaches, have been there (Atlantic) a few times. Have visited family in Florida a few times and spent a day at gulf beaches. Have been to St Lucia, Turks & Caicos, and Aruba

We live 10 min from the ocean, less than 20 min from the Long Island Sound. I love the beach, any beach-ocean, bay, lake, etc. I grew up in a landlocked area. We had to travel HOURS to get to the ocean. When I moved to Long Island, I said I’d never take it for granted. We used to go all throughout the summer when the kids were little for hours on end including camping at the beach. Dinners on the beach in the fall too. Now that the kids can go on their own, I have to admit, I don’t go as often as I should.
We have a beach vacation planned for NC in a couple of weeks. It does seem crazy to travel 12 hours to the same ocean that’s 10 min away, but the water temp is still chilly up here.
